Depends how strongly you rank India....

Not sure where all the fuss is with India because they have always been a lower tier team in my eyes... Vs Guam is 2 minnows going at each other and Guam came up better at home..

A lot of structural & organizational changes will be required to the I-League before it can match the marketing strength, commercial potential and fan popularity of the ISL.

There is no point in merging the two leagues if the resulting league will just maintain the status quo.

Omid Sing is an Indian player is second top Iranian team Esteghlal Khuzestan in IPL (Iranian Premier League). You should call him to your national team. He is a good midfielder and can help your team along Sunil Chetri.

He's not very good at all but would probably be a great player for India, wouldn't be surprised if he was one of their best, if not their best player if he was playing for them.

Weird that he didn't declare himself for the India national team until now maybe he feels no connection to their country

He is good enough to be in Esteghlal Khuzestan and will be a great player for India. Indians have a good player in Sunil Chetri. I doubt Omid Singh be greater than Sunil.

He gets limited play time and barely gets subbed in for Esteghlal Khuzestan, even the Timor-Leste international gets more play time than him off the bench.

Anyways, playing for Esteghlal Khuzestan isn't a barometer for anything, for example none of their players are good enough for Iran despite them being first for a long period in the league, and Omid Sing has been playing for rock bottom IPL teams and lower league teams all of his career. He's the typical fine Azadegan league (2nd division) player, you can even be sure that there are even high chances he finds himself back in a 2nd division team next 1-2 years, so relatively speaking no he isn't good by any means, still probably would be a star for India.

Highly doubt that "Sunil Chetri" would be good enough for any Iranian team so we can't really tell, he may turn to be their best player if he joined them who knows

Indian football's fettle starts at the doorstep of the All India Football Federation's (AIFF) headquarters in New Delhi. Representatives of the governing body and their chief marketing partners IMG-Reliance led consortium proposed a plan to the members of all league clubs in India, alongside select members of the football fraternity for the restructuring of the nation's football edifice so as to raise the profile of the game in the subcontinent.

The high-profile meeting, involving only selected member of the Indian football fraternity, that took place on Tuesday, 17th May, the AIFF's roadmap for the future consists of three leagues in a hierarchical system. No complete merger between the Indian Super League (ISL) and I-League is mooted for now. The expansive shake-up has its tentacles reach the Federation Cup as well as football on the international front, including women's football.

They haven't made a decision yet about the number of teams
But most probably ISL will add 3 more teams from I-league
Bengaluru FC, East Bengal and Mohun bagan
This plan was not well received by many though

3 Kolkata teams (Atletico, East Bengal and Mohun Bagan) in ISL ?
However I hope that the 12° team (if they will be 12) will be an Hyderabad's club.

Well IMG-R don't want more than 10 teams in the top tier.
So they are trying to convince ATK to merge with one of the two Kolkata giants.
Few I-league clubs, are not really happy with the proposal as they have to play in the tier 2 that is League One .
Salgaocar FC and Sporting Clube de Goa have strongly opposed this tier system and demanded that they should be allowed in but these clubs even though have long history neither have the fan appeal or the money to play in ISL.
Other I-league are pretty much content with the proposal as they've been assured more shares from the central revenue and IMG-R have assured them that League One will be a much better product than I-League.
State league and 2nd divison clubs are also happy with the proposal as it provides them a much better platform and financially sustainable league for them to be part of.
Currently ISL have demanded that these 3 clubs pay a franchisee fee to be absorbed into the league
EB and MB have strongly opposed this while BFC are happy to do whatever to be a part of this league.
It's an ambitious plan and if executed correctly will start a postive revolution in Indian Football

So the senior India football team could tour the USA on work for the first time this August. Sunil Chhetri and his mates could play between three and five games in a country that is a favoured pre-season destination of top European clubs. The team will face few USL sides and Ventura County Fusion which is owned by an Indian Businessman
