Conmebol muda versão e anuncia punição de um jogo para Neymar http://t.co/BuGsqSV1Su pic.twitter.com/bscuu1I5rW— ge (@geglobo) June 18, 2015
A decision will still be made. I am not even sure what the correct decision here is. Not often that this happens.
Well lucky for Neymar he will ONLY miss 1 match!! So he'll be back for the quarterfinals should we advance!! Crazy I'm saying that!!
Any word on the final decision? They had mentioned 12 noon on Friday but I haven't heard anything. Another source said they might postpone the decision until Sunday. (With all the corruption cases, one wonders if the postponement has to do with negotiations on how big is the bribe the officials want from CBF to keep it at one game - although most probably with all the attention the corruption has been getting, maybe this time they won't dare to do something like this).
Honestly, it should be more than 1 game. Maybe, 2 or 3 at most IMO. Anything over that is extreme but if they did do something extreme like the rest of the tournament or more, I probably wouldn't even be mad at that. I found his behavior and his leadership in that game that disgusting.
All true, but most likely there will be some leniency given that the public in the entire world would want to see him play. Given that the yellow he collected was a blatant refereeing mistake (his handball was entirely involuntary) and given the history (Colombia is the team responsible for breaking his spine in the World Cup so it is somewhat understandable that he was rather irritated with them) I believe that the Disciplinary Committee will cut him some slack. Two games total would make him miss the Venezuela game and the quarterfinal, but would allow him to be back for the semi and the final if Brazil makes it that far (which, to tell you the truth, I find unlikely).
It was supposed to be announced by now. Here's a rumor: ATENCIÓN. Me aseguran fuentes a paraguayas que NEYMAR es suspendido por 4 partidos. Se le terminó la Copa América.— Martin Charquero (@MartinCharquero) June 19, 2015

Well ********. We either cure the Neymardependencia now, or we never will. Pretty harsh, but he needs to learn to controll himself, even when facing bullshit of all kinds. I would revert to a 4-4-2: --------------------Jefferson Marquinhos---Miranda-----TS---Luis Filipe -----------------Elias--------DL -----Willian-----------------------Coutinho -------------Tardelli-------Firmino It will never happen, but I think it's the best we can do right now.
I saw someone mention that Neymar headbutted someone. Did I miss something or is someone overexaggerating? There is no logic to explain going from 1 game to 4.
Well he tried to. I don't think it connected, but he did it. Also shot the ball at Armero, punched the ball after the yellow, verbally abused the referee in the tunnel etc etc. Total meltdown, so I believe the time off will be good for him to think things over. Also "good" for us, we can try to make a more collective system. Every adversity is an opportunity, I guess.
He did a little headbutt towards some Colombian player but 4 games is a bit excessive imo. 2-3 would do. Carlo Bacca should also be banned the same amount. He came out of nowhere and pushed Neymar although he was given 2 games. Either way, I think this is good for us to build a team without Neymar and let others be given the chance to show what they have. I don't care if we don't win Copa America. We need to lessen Neydependencia at all costs besides the World Cup of course. And this lets Neymar think of what he has done.
I saw the headbutt. It was barely anything compared to Zidane. Neymar was walking away from Murillo and he approached Neymar and put his head close to him. Neymar got high booted to the face and got awarded a BS yellow. How many games did Fabregas get for kicking a ball at a player? 1 game? I agree Neymar's was worse given the proximity. Neymar also got called names by the linesman. Will the linesman get punished?
Conmebol are making an example out of Neymar I think. 4 game is excessive but like I said I ain't even mad, they went that far.
Wow, so much for the leniency I was expecting. I guess indeed CONMEBOL has no sympathy for Brazil, the only Portuguese-speaking country in the region. Everywhere in South America it's always Us vs. Brazil. Regardless of the seriousness of his meltdown, 4 games *is* excessive. The assistant referee was caught calling Neymar a diver. There was severe animosity against him, and he fell for it. They got what they wanted: they kicked him out of the tournament. Now the title has been given to Argentina on a platter. Sure, it's good for Neymar in terms of growing up. But it is *clearly* excessive, and it is done out of hatred against Brazil, and envy regarding his talent. The thing is, he was chased around the field, pushed and kicked, with the ref not calling fouls and generally aggravating him. Sure, the guy is young and immature and fell for it. The bottom line - well, there are two bottom lines - the first bottom line is that with competent and unbiased refereeing this wouldn't have happened. The second bottom line is that Neymar needs to grow up. Now, can we overcome the Neymardependencia like other posters here are saying? I don't think so. Our team is mediocre and has only one genius, one Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior. Currently, we are bad with Neymar, and much much worse without him. We are doomed.
I agree with the "positives" of this that @Bakaman brought up, but this seems excessive. Where there any precedents in CONMEBOL for a "headbutt?"
There wasn't a headbutt. It was an attempted headbutt. An unbiased judgment would have cancelled the yellow for the handball which was clearly involuntary, and would have given him a 2-game suspension total. 4 games, it is especially designed to take him out of the tournament entirely and screw Brazil. It's clearly excessive and done out of hatred for Brazil.
I expect Neymar to get a lot of heat for the Brazilian media. Dunga probably work better in these conditions. Everyone expect us to crash out now like in 07.
I wonder if some money changed hands amongst federations. Like I said 4 games is too much. And then people had the nerve to complain that the refs were helping Brazil last summer when this is much more suspicious.
