We didn't play anything special is all I'm saying.. Just because the other team shits their pants and loses the plot 15 mins into a game doesn't mean the winning team was invincible world beaters...
Great teams capitalize on the faults of their opponents. Great teams punish them for their mistakes. To do that vs a team like Peru when they screw up is easy, but to do that vs a team like Brazil is indeed special because it takes a certain mindset to do this.
What I find more embarrassing by the 7-1 score is that people are still gloating about this game. Move on, it means nothing now. We crushed them 7-1 at home in the semi-finals, big deal. If it was the final I could understand the discussion still going on, but it's the semi-final of all things. Why people still care, who knows. They're probably the ones who only show up for Euro and World Cups and don't bother with qualifying and friendlies. The colours only appear for 30 days every two years. You would think as Germans, we would be the last to rub salt in the wounds, as we've had our share of major let downs in big games the last 10 years.
It is not about caring or not caring or about not being able to move on. If you don't want to be a part of the discussion, then how about you unsub and move on and let the rest of us continue to enjoy the moment? It was terrific, Brazil at home and a semi-final..I don't give a shit that is wasn't the final, the fact that it was a semi was just as good for me. It is also not about rubbing salt...but enjoying a wonderful memory. Also, many people here are not Germans, but fans of the German NT, so it isn't fair to lecture them on how they should behave or react.
I also dont remember Branthrax being around here last year when it actually happened. 7-1 is what I will be telling my grandchildren stories about.
This is our ********ing thread, we can celebrate as long as we want. We didn't bump the Brazil forums thread.
Sports are all about the memories. Good or bad. I will always gloat over that 7-1 win. Not Germany's fault Brazil sucked
No need to gloat but certainly remember. It was an incredible result, it will undoubtedly go (or already has) into history of the German NT and the World Cup. It was totally unexpected as well, a lot of the pundits were predicting that Germany would lose or it would be a very tight game.

I still cannot believe how well I played during that game. My backheel pass to georg was très incroyable, messieurs dames, aus allen Poren tropfte die Essenz des Genialen - stoßweise, im Sekundentakt.
I think on that day, we all were geniuses. I was the genius in a bar drinking beer and a Jägerbomb: for the start of the game, at half time, after the game and after every goal.
This match was a spectacle. Something that we will never see again in our lifetimes. Its one thing to thrash the likes of Saudi Arabia in the group stage, it is a completely different feat to so thoroughly defeat the host, and most successful team in WC history in the Semi-finals.
Have to really dress up the story with remarks like "brazil is brazil", "eurpoeans never won on south american soil", "the chants of the south american fans will make the europeans crumble"......
The next day I didnt remember much of the 2nd half but all in all I was fine. But I have watched the game like 40 times in the meanhwile...the biggest drunkenness after Ghana 2010. A frustrating and tight game so we drank like hell. Then, the next morning I ended up 50 km away from home in a train station with no money and to this day I cannot tell how I got there.
Nah. Germany and Brazil have not met in the WC often enough since that 2002 defeat for me to have yet forgotten how much it hurt to see Oliver Kahn's god-mode crack and for his only mistake of the tournament to hand fat-Ronaldo the opener for the easiest WC-goal he scored on his path to passing Gerd. That game was painful, especially with us coming into the game missing our Talisman. So I will continue getting a kick out of taking them apart the way we did, in Brazil, in our very next WC match up; even if it was "just" the semi. This was a historic ass kicking. We shouldn't be gloating about it or rubbing salt in the wounds, but getting enjoyment out of the fact that it actually happened is only natural.
Amazingly Brazil and Germany, by far the two most succesfull and consistent national teams in WC history, have played only twice ever in the WC.
