Guess with the problems up top, trying to shore things up. Hope this doesnt mean Espindola's injury isnt serious..... http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/artic...ps-addition-argentine-journeyman-facundo-cori
Wow....talk about buzz kill, very underwhelming signing who has played rarely the past couple season and scored even less. I really hope this isn't all we plan do with the extra EJ's salary. Not surprised i guess, just disappointed.
Wikipedia suggests he hasn't scored in actual play for any team since the 2010-2011 season. Wow. That's a hell of a pickup there.
When the first minute of a highlight reel (posted in another thread) shows him just walking around, on and off the field, hopes are not high. I can only presume he's cheap. Erm. Inexpensive.
With DCU's record with international signings for most of the last decade you had no business having a buzz anyway. After yesterday the only chemically induced ailments you should be having are a hangover or depression.
But he's a hell of a defensive forward! And if he scores one goal Morsink (if he found him) can claim he found a guy who exceeded expectations infinitely. Or undefinedly or something
Have we not seen this before. Underwhelming Argentine Forward/Midfielder??? it all look very familar.........
Maybe he is the replacement for Collin Martin. Once Martin fully recovers from surgery, he goes to Richmond all year and Coria is the backup wing/central midfielder who gets activated in cases of injury or for Cup matches.
I watched this clip on youtube...the actual highlights start after about 2 minutes. Anyways he looked like very good at holding the ball up and being an outlet up top for the midfield. Was able to hold the ball and distribute well from the forward position. Something this team lacks when Espindola is not in the game. I'll reserve judgement on whether this is a good signing when I see him play on the field in a DC United jersey.
Better than Connor Doyle on the face of it... he had scored exactly 0 professional goals ever when we picked him up.
This is the epitome of a DK f-up. What - there's not one single player in all the damn world that has played regular first team soccer in the last two years? What the damn hell! This is the other shoe dipped in concrete and attached to talon being tossed off the side of a boat. Why have scouting at all if this is the kind of crap we end up with. James
Goff's piece puts the Segundo Facundo acquisition in perspective. This is a depth move and with the current bout of injuries, a great opportunity for him to demonstrate some value. His recent run of form has been terrible, but Villareal paid a hefty transfer fee to get him from Juniors a few years back. Sometimes decent talents just get lost in loans, "coaches decisions" and shit luck. Look at Chris Rolfe -- Chicago decided he was dead as Kelsey's nuts and look what happened. DCU picked up Opare for literally nothing because he was less than a spare part to Bruce. Let's give our new addition some time -- maybe he will suck ass or maybe he will be the steal of the season. I'm willing to hope for the best at this time.
Our anemic attack against a terrible Philadelphia team made it clear we need a striker up top instead of a bunch of forward/midfielders. So let's sign someone who hasn't played in six months. And wasn't good enough for Philadelphia. And is a forward/midfielder.
Yeah, Goff's piece makes me feel better about this guy's talent but worse about his fit here. We're already running out a bunch of midfield/forward hybrids in the attack, especially with Fabi on the shelf. Did we need another one, or do we need a different type of attacking piece?
