DCU definitely looked the side who already played this week. Kudos to Curtin for 100% selling on pushing everyone up for 90 minutes against a side that was wilting away in the heat of the night.. I havent' had much positive to say about this team this year, but, while the game wasn't fantastic, they actually did deserve the 3 points tonight. Still unsure if this will hold going forward, but if this team suffers from confidence issues, then we can only move forward from this win.

They finally caught a break. Olsen gets submarined.
Would that there was a protest before every home game. Some of them looked as though they were shamed into caring for 90+.

Old-school Union grunt job gets 3 pts. Nobody but Wenger was particularly putrid tonight........Casey, Nog and Ray led by example, and most followed. The good Dr. finally scored a goal to be proud of :p...take it and build on it.

Shit. Now Sak gloats over the fans while the SoB's go back to saying they always supported the team and were just kidding with the "protest."

Whoa, whoa, whoa. We've still only taken 23% of our maximum points. Let's not be too hasty.

The apologists are back. One Ryan Shultz seems to think you aren't a real fan if you aren't suddenly back on board with this team.

It was like a 2010 win. Lots of graft, lot of wasted opportunities... doesn't hurt that the opponent was barely trying. Still, good performances from Casey, Carroll, Edu, Le Toux. This Sylvestre kid looks good. Chaco wasn't at his best, Ethan White gives me nightmares, and the less said about Wenger the better. Even Fabinho was decent, though hardly had to defend.

Congrats on your win, fellas. Always like seeing DCU lose.

I'm not up-to-date on Philly FO dynamics, but seeing as you're one of the 2 other teams in MLS I don't actively root against, I've been following along somewhat. I couldn't help but commiserate with the weird feeling that comes w/ squeaking out a win when you're pissed at management. Two years ago in Columbus it felt like every time a critical mass had formed and Warzycha was on the hot seat, we'd somehow win a game and he'd get a reprieve for 3 weeks. Whatever, though - keep on fightin and things will turn around. See you in a few weeks!

Great to get a win, but that game showed once again what a slow team we are. OK Casey is older and sprinting is not his game, but we had plenty of counter-attacking chances and through balls that our guys could not outrun the defence. Le Toux - that's you.

Hey, look at that, the blind squirrel found a nut!

Seriously though, the Union actually played half way decent tonight. The effort was much better. They actually were able to take advantage being up a man as well!

Carroll played well, started shaky but grew into the game.

    Fabinho, played decent as well.

Maidana and Nogs are essential for the Union. Period. Without them on the field at the same time, the Union are unwatchable and struggle mightily.

White.....adventures in defense. His distribution is very lacking, to be kind.

Sylvestre, dealt with the little he had to deal with well.

Edu, played great. Except that needless yellow toward the end. He'll be missed against RBNY next Sunday.

    Wenger......ugh. Needs to sit. Period.

Feels good to get a W for once and leave PPL with some joy.

Next week at RBA, is likely going to be a rough one.

Thank you for saying what I have been thinking privately for years.Thought I was the only one. Drums got to go. I think TRE uses the drums as a crutch and your HS football reference is spot on. At least we don't have trumpets

I think the game started off real bad but by the end of the first half things settled. Second half started a little shaky but again settled.
I'll tell ya, I have been really down on the team, but I was glad to see some fight left in them. Even Tubby Williams was hustling tonight. If they can't be good I at least want to see effort.
Someone said it earlier, was a very 2010 style win. It was nice to leave PPL hooting and hollering instead of loudly booing.

Casey really impressed me tonight given the low expectations I had for him. Yeah he couldn't finish, but had a lot of good chances and hustled his exhausted ass off. Kudos to him for at least playing a full 90 minutes without going into cardiac arrest.

I was worried when they put Fabinho on for Ray, but I gotta say he played very well tonight. His help on offense was definitely visible.

    Wenger...ugh

Chaco and Nogs...we needed them together. Not a perfect performance, but damn its good to have them play together.

Mo showed again why he needs to stay at CB. Very solid defensively and consistent with successful challenges. Plus I don't cringe in anticipation every time the ball comes to him for distribution like I do with...

Ethan White...showed again why Marquez needs to start over him.

Why the hell is the Candyman long throw still a thing...although I still have to admit there was a quality chance off one tonight, but I feel like taking a short throw and setting up for a cross would be better overall. Also found it hilarious how he shit whipped Pfeffer to the ground after the goal lol

Seba was pretty good with his movement tonight. Overall performance was nothing special, but I guess nothing special is a step up from what we mostly seen from him this year.

Ayuk...didn't have much of an impact on this game. And for that I blame Curtin. He should have been in a lot earlier than the 87th minute. Hell, he really should have been in the starting XI over Wenger.

Pfeffer: one of our own is the savior of the game.

Also thoroughly enjoyed watching 4 or 5 DC United supporters get kicked out throughout the game for fighting...each other.

We are going to MLS Cup!

This team lacks much, particularly, quality in the final third; but I don't want to complain much after that win.
Despite the match being rather dull (a common occurrence for each Union game this season), it was fun to see them grab a win at the death. The Union won because they appeared to want it more, United looked almost unmotivated.

Overall, they looked better defensively and didn't let DC get anything going through the midfield. As much as I cringe to see Carroll in the lineup given how poor of a passer he is, he genuinely does help provide defensive cover for the guys on the backline when the matchup is right.

The funny thing watching this game and looking at DC's team, they don't really have a better sets of players than the Union. Hamid is almost world class, but DCs players work so much better for each other off the ball.
