http://www.si.com/planet-futbol/2015/05/13/chicharito-alejandro-bedoya-perry-kitchen-bob-bradley According to Grant Wahl, Perry is getting interest from Europe. I do not want to see him go. Belgium and Denmark CL teams would be: Anderlecht Standard Liege FC Kobenhavn Aalborg BK German teams: No idea who would be interested in him and where he would get playing time.
This story ran in several places this week, and they all traced back to comments from Lyle Yorks, Kitchen's agent. Like I said elsewhere, maybe it's true; or maybe it's an agent trying to talk his client up and set the stage for upcoming contract negotiations with DCU. I don't know.
I hope its just posturing... but I did not realize his contract was up after this season. I really thought we had him locked up for a few years.
Olsen on this in today's post by Goff So, I bolded the the agent part. Garber and MLS has made no secret bout keeping American's. Olsen and DCU have no secret about being on a budget and not going international. This is good posturing by the agent. Here's what happens (I think). Whatever money is left from the EJ thing (and Hamid's new contract) and whatever money that was going to Pontius, plus whatever secret MLS retention/youth/calvinball Garber bucks there are also go to Kitchen and he re-signs.
He should take a big raise and insist on a buyout clause so we can't keep him here if he really wants to leave. Same thing I said about Hamid. If he keeps improving, somebody will come calling with more money than DCU will pay him.
And while we would miss him and Hamid bunches, I'm still OK with that - Seeing Andy Najar scoring in UEFA Europa League games reminds us of how much we miss him, but also bolsters DC United's reputation - It attracts younger talent into our Academy and free agents looking for redemption
I wouldn't want to lose him, but Kitchen ultimately has to do what he feels is best for his career, his aspirations and his dreams. From what I've seen of Kitchen, I doubt if it's all about money.
Similar to Hamid I hope they bump his pay to at least be in better position in the transfer market. I'd love to have him his whole career, but I understand if he really wants to go not much can be done.
I would be sad, but I can see Perry going abroad and then returning here for his last few years. He certainly wouldn't be the first to do so. Chris Rolfe, for example, went to Denmark for a couple of years but then returned to his old team, the Fire.
OK, let's be serious. First, let's remember things like "Agoos to Grasshoppers. . . ." This a someone talking to an agent whose job is to play up his primary. Perry Kitchen is a good MLS player. In fact, he's better than I thought when he was drafted! That being said, he's not doing anything special in MLS other than being a good, solid defensive mid. But, most of the guys going to the main league in Europe are actually part of the US National Team on a regular basis. If you're a GM I a team overseas, are you going to take PK over someone like Jermain Jones of NE? This is silly posturing by an agent of a player and a newspaper guy looking for inches in a column.
Having two DMids is gonna get you what you got tonight. DCU is built to win 1-0. I think Kitchen could thrive in a more possession oriented system where he was behind a mid with any ability to hold the ball. Arnaud is a turnover waiting to happen.
yes. can Halsti play effectively in front of Perry? If not him, maybe NDL? Arnold's already done more for this team this year than I thought was reasonable to ask. Let's at least TRY to play an offensive game. Once..
We did. In Vacouver. It didn't start great, but it ended up working well enough, especially against 10 men.
Report: Perry Kitchen to sign with Scotland club Hearts By Ryan Keefer Mar 1, 2016, 8:59pm The former D.C. midfielder apparently has a new home. http://www.blackandredunited.com/dc...-kitchen-dc-united-usmnt-scotland-club-hearts
If Kitchen is indeed signing with Hearts -- say goodbye to the "I'm off to Europe to increase my skill set." I can't think of a worse league for someone looking to advance his career, other than, maybe, a good payday. However, considering only Celtic have avoided administration recently, I'm not sure how economically robust any of the Scottish teams really are. Just seems as though Perry screwed the pooch when he and his agent decided he was more "valuable" on the open market than the rest of the world thought.
Yeah, his only hope there is to toil away at it and hopefully catch the eye of someone else. Otherwise, he's back to MLS within 2 years I'd say.
