Pretty good draw for them. Zorya only qualified for EL qualifying because Metalurh was excluded. They finished 7th last year in the UPL which was easily their highest finish ever. They're usually hovering somewhere near the relegation zone.
By the way, Zorya will play their home game in Kyiv, as they did in the last round, probably because Luhansk is kind of right in the middle of the situation in Ukraine right now.
Horvath was on the bench again as Molde got a 1-1 away draw thanks to an 88th minute equalizer. http://www.uefa.com/uefaeuropaleague/season=2015/matches/round=2000585/match=2014958/index.html
Almost all teams give their starter a rest for at least a cup game or two during the course of a season. I'm wondering when Molde is going to give their starter a rest, which would probably lead to a debut for Horvath.
In goal for Molde 2's 3-1 loss to Levanger. Goals: http://www.levangeravisa.no/sport/article9986749.ece
On the bench again in the return leg of the Europa League matchup http://www.uefa.com/uefaeuropaleagu...ive/index.html?day=-3&session=1&match=2014987
Molde lost 1-2 at home and 2-3 on aggregate. No more Europa League for them. Look for Horvath in the Cup?
Fast forward six months, and Nyland is starting for Norway against England, so at least Horvath is learning from a good one.
If Nyland's that good, he'll be sold sooner or later. Then we'll find out what Molde really thinks about Horvath.
Everton near move for Norway keeper Orjan Nyland, sources say Good news for Horvath. If Nyland is sold, Horvath probably won't get a shot immediately, but whoever Nyland's replacement is probably won't be as difficult to beat out.
Joe Gould@twelfthyank Ethan Horvath played the second half of Molde FK's friendly today vs Hammarby. 2-2 draw. #USMNT #preseason
As far as I can tell, Nyland wasn't sold this window despite Everton speculation. Molde also brought in a 21 year old Swedish goalkeeper named Andreas Linde from Helsingborg. Backup Espen Pettersen has moved to Strømsgodset. So for the time being, Horvath will compete with Linde to backup Nyland.
Horvath played the first half of a friendly today (3-0 win), and Linde played the second half. Hope that bodes well for Horvath claiming the back-up spot. I saw no mention of Gatt, will check his thread to see if there's any update.
He started the Cup game today according to a poster (@ussoccer97531 ?) in the Youth Yanks Abroad thread. Looks like he got a shutout as Molde won 2-0 away.
Horvath seemed to have problems controlling his box - as evidenced by the fact that his goal flipped over because of the wind, according to the highlights! But seriously, his goal blowing over represented his only appearance in the highlights.
Horvath started in the cup again, this time on the road at Træff (I think there's a kosher joke in there somewhere). Molde won 2-0 and according to the highlights, he once again didn't have much to do. Træff threatened once, but pushed the shot wide.
For posterity, I'll link to his inclusion in the final roster for the U20 World Cup: http://www.ussoccer.com/stories/2015/05/07/08/30/150507-u20mnt-2015-world-cup-roster-rel
Horvath has been replaced by Thomas Olsen on the roster. Lost in Zelalem U-20s news is the fact Ethan Horvath was not released by Molde, as my sources noted last week. Thomas Olsen called as 3rd GK— Ives Galarcep (@SoccerByIves) May 13, 2015 Disappointing for Horvath to miss out on the WC, but it speaks well of Molde's opinion of him.
He makes up for the disappointment by making his league debut: Goalkeeper Ethan Horvath (who was not released by Molde for the US U-20 World Cup team) makes his Tippeligaen debut today as a 55th min sub— Brian Sciaretta (@BrianSciaretta) May 16, 2015 @bungadiri -- let's promote this fine fellow to the YA forum
Another start... Ethan Horvath starts for Molde right now, while Josh Gatt makes his first appearance in the 18 for a while. #USMNT— Joe Gould (@twelfthyank) May 22, 2015
