this reminds meof my favorite Christie Rampone Story. She was asked to be player/coach for the sky blue to finish the season in 2010. SB made the playoffs as #4 seed but had to play all 4 games on the road. trhe first game was in DC; then St..Louis; then LA. She was asked her strategy to surviving the games - She replied- When we were going to St.Louis, I told them to pack for California.

I can't believe no one has told the other that they are adopted yet. I guess saying you are the parents favorite is close enough

I guress I'm not alone in wanting more faster attacking:

""We need to move the ball quick, play some vertical passes instead of always going side to side and we should attack the goal," Sam Mewis said when asked what WNY must do better" from: http://www.democratandchronicle.com...t-bounce-back-home-opener-vs-boston/26735869/

You know what was most impressive about the win? The fact that the players did not give up after going down a goal. We saw way too much of that last season- we'd give up the lead or fall behind and there would be no fight from most of the players to get back into games. Not this time. If anything, conceding the first goal only made them fight harder to win. I guess that's one of the upsides to having such a young team- they don't know when to quit.

Amanda Cromwell was adding to her recruiting portfolio on Saturday- Should we expect to see Mark Krikorian in the near future?

    Was
they played with confidence that they WOULD score, not with worry that they might not score. i expect these girls are going to surprise some teams and experts this year....

So anybody know what's going on with Frisbie? She hasn't been listed as injured, but still has not played any minutes. I was thinking with Engen gone, if WNY is happy with Dahlkemper as DM, they could use Frisbie as a CB instead of Pressley. I mean, she can't be any worse, right...

It's hard to get worse than Pressley.

I may not get to go to tonight’s game , but attendance may be impacted otherwise because the Rochester Knighthawks (defending National Lacrosse league champions ) have a home playoff game at 7:00 pm The Knighthawks average about 7,500 per game; in addition, the Lilac Festival started today along with its free concert series. The Outlaws play tonight at 7- -ironically on the Sahlen’s Music Stage. WNY Flash's ’s 3-2-1 promotion for tonight is good to try and get the “pub crowd” to the game; it addresses my biggest concern that ticket prices are too high. - but they only advertised this deal on their web site and twitter.

Flash Host Champion FCKC on Friday

Fans can take advantage of $3 general admission tickets, $2 pregame drafts and $1 Sahlen's hot dogs as part of the "3, 2, 1 Night" promotion.

Jeff Diveronica is mad about the Flash not advertising because he really promoted the team in 2011 and since then, then, and it has resulted in no advertising revenue from WNY to the Democrat & Chronicle. Check out the Knighthawks ad on today’s online sports page.

On another negative note – the D&C had an article today about maintenance and repair issues at the stadium http://www.democratandchronicle.com...-rochester-video-scoreboard-repairs/70974600/

I have had email correspondence with City Council staff about the scoreboard video screen and got no satisfactory reply. Particularly after I intentionally hit a sore spot in response to their statement that it was too expensive to fix when I told them that using cost as an excuse was not valid by pointing out a recent proposed city expenditure that would have awarded a service contract of more than $0.5million to a “friend” of the mayor’s office- I said that there clearly was money available, there was just no desire by the City to do anything about the scoreboard video. Why is it the City’s problem, do you Ask? It owns the stadium – the Rhinos and Flash are only tenants.

Im pretty sure she is still rehabbing. She had Surgery Xmas eve after the medical staff at Seattle tried their voodoo chants or whatever they were doing. When they played at UP and she played in the second half she said she is healed but needs to get strength back and get in shape. Haven't talked to her since.

But she might be more help to them up top. They don't seem to have anyone else willing to put the ball in the net.

Technically that wasn't Edwards' first NWSL goal for the Flash. But then again, OG's are usually best forgotten.

Well, at least the good news is that it's not a season ending injury.

What’s next for the Flash? It is getting too late to keep repeating “they are young and will get (much) better with time” I think Lines needs to change from his 4-3-3, which emphasizes fast outside strikers (a la Sam Kerr) with two of the midfielders playing holding or defensive mid. Currently they have been attacking down the flanks, looking for either Leroux/Williams or Fields to use speed to get to the end line and beat the defender 1 v 1 or make a cross – which has been ineffective e.(only 4goals in 5 games) . I think he needs to use the speed he has up the middle, where it is most threatening. I remain convinced that he used a 2 striker front line pre-season vs. West Virginia (Williams and Spencer) and Syracuse(Kur and Spencer). -It was either a diamond midfield with Brooks at D-mid or a 4-1-3-2. with Brooks at the 1 and Edwards and/or Mewis in the center midfield–. He needs to go back to that. The players seemed comfortable with it and were having fun. Pre-season, Edmonds was most dangerous playing in the outside midfield position. – maybe let her play there and put Stewart (or Frisbie) in at RB. Lines needs to put Angeli on the field – she played well transferring the ball from the back line to the attacking players in the preseason.

Williams and Spencer clicked as the 2 up top– they played off-of and for each other great

Flash vs. Spirit on Saturday – I’m planning on going and look forward to seeing Angie and Kelsey Wys – it seemed like Wys had a helluva game against Sky Blue.

By one measure that I keep track of (a modified shots on goal vs opponent's shots measure), the Flash are doing quite well - tied for 3rd in the league with Portland.

Chicago leads with an expected differential of 2.6 more shots on goal per game. Washington is the worst with a minus differential of 3.0 shots on goal per games. The statistic comes pretty close to mirroring the standings with the two big exceptions being... WNY and Washington.

Chicago: +2.6 shots on goal per game (expected)
    Seattle : 1.7
    Portland: 0.7
    WNY: 0.7
    KC: 0.4
    Houston -1.0
    Boston -1.8
    Sky Blue -2.6
    Washington -3.0

Seattle and KC (no surprise) were far and away the best last year. Washington then, as now, was an anomaly if I recall, doing better in both the standings and in actual goal differential than predicted by this measure.

    **
just noticed something about the schedule - WNY had a tough schedule to start the season, four of the first five games against Seattle, Portland and KC, with three of those away. I wouldn't hit any panic buttons.

It could potentially get worse if Jones gets disciplined by the league for the hit on Groom.

Quite an interesting way to look at things.........is there a strong correlation between SOG differential and Goal differential? - I suspect there is...BTW - No Panic on my part. I Just want them to be playing better
    One game suspension: http://nwslsoccer.com/home/878049.html

Who is/was the LA/Pali Blues Keeper? - Rowland, maybe. Haracic is in Sweden, Franch is in Norway and probably pissed off, Can we coax Loyden out of retirement? Or
Jenni Branam, I always liked her game.

we need a second keeper while Sabs is on the shelf.

Only for this game. She could potentially be back for the Chicago game.
