I sit in 103. When YSA was yelled out in the 10th minute vs Orlando, is sure sounded like damn near the entire Nordecke. Just saying. On a semi related note, was it just me or was there more profane chanting vs Orlando than usual? I don't have a problem with it from a cuss word point of view, because I cuss quite a lot myself. It just seemed like more than usual, and it was the same ones repeated over and over. Again, no problem with cuss words, but try to be clever and mix it up. YSA is pretty much the same as Mexicans yelling ********, not very creative. I liked some of the profane chants, but repeating them 3 or 4 times... Just seemed like cussing for the sake of cussing. I want to be clear, again, no problem with cussing. And I think the Nordecke was great vs Orlando, easily the loudest night from the Nordecke this season so far. Just want more creativity. I loved "It's a long way just to lose" and "You're not singing anymore", chanting "Shit on those bastards" over and over, not so much.
Hi all, May I shamelessly shill for a moment? I hesitate to share because I don't want it to get too crowded, but I will because I don't want it to go away. Crew SC worked out a deal with Car2Go so that you can park for free if you take one. Not just anywhere though - you may have seen the parking spaces on the curb right at the front gate. My wife and I used to drive from Italian Village, park at 17th, and then walk the 3/4mi to the stadium. Instead, the past few weeks we drove a C2G, parked at the front, and walked right in. Somehow this last week we were the ONLY people to do it. It was ridiculous! Their customer service is friggin awesome (they always seem to comp our rides when we have even the most minor of inconveniences), and they gave us FREE TICKETS to this week's game just as a thank-you. TRY 'EM OUT, YO.
This past game, I couldn't help but notice all of the flags flying in the nordecka. Team spirit. Good job. Upfront was the famous rainbow flag. I know our colors are black and gold but that flag had all the colors. It didn't seem like a team flag. Maybe political flags are ok at MLS games. Or at least certain political flags. Come to think of it, YSA seems pretty offensive to the rainbow nation. What's wrong with SA? Who are you to tell me what I can do with the person I love? Jesus, can't we all just have it two ways? Oh sh!t...
My Car2Go story... I'd do that, except I already bought B-lot passes and of course, they announced the deal a week or two into the season. The difference for me to drive Car2Go vs $10 passes is about $2 or so each game. For that price, I'd rather just have my own car there. Now, it wouldn't surprise me if some people park their own car on 4th or whatnot and drive a Car2Go the rest of the way. No rule says you can't do that. I have seen a little stretch of that north-south road between the church and the stadium where stopping is not allowed during the State Fair....but I'd imagine it's impossible to get to that stretch during Crew games.
But the closer you park to the stadium, the longer it takes to get out. Unless you're one of those people who leave 10min before the game ends.
We just walk out to 17th after game to beat the traffic - there are usually 5 or so around there, so it works out pretty well.
So.... last time, they told us "open an hour after the game" which is what one would expect, with consistency being what it is and all. Only last night, the bar (with one tap, from what I heard) was all wrapped up at 9:50. And CSC was back to their old way of saying "No wristbands? Gotta go!" around the 80th minute in the Heinken lounge. Just a few short years ago, it would have taken a couple minutes to walk through the tent with all the people in there.
I stand on the stage occasionally and if you go down the non-nordecke side it's never been a problem. Couple weeks ago they made us go down the back staircase (I joke it's where you could do drugs at the stadium since it's unsupervised). Yesterday I went to go down the same staircase and the worker said they were not doing that anymore "they changed it again" she said as she rolled her eyes. I went to leave the stage and they wouldn't let me back up the same staircase I had just walked down. I had to go up the back staircase again. Confusing.
I want to say it was either @Hamburgler03 or @KCbus who stood on the stage for a game a year or two ago and CSC wouldn't let them leave into the stands without a ticket...several minutes after the game had ended. I wonder why they won't let anyone use the elevator. I guess that means wheelchairs will never be allowed on the stage? I agree...consistency has been lacking this season.
Sadly this was me. and completely a true story. They literally wouldn't let us leave the stage (from the non-Nordecke side) at the end of the game unless we showed them our game tickets.
General admission up to the 80th minute or 30 minutes after the game, or apparently whenever they kick people out. The wristbands are to ID team staff and other VIPs so they can eat/mingle after the game with a huge supply of Papa John's and other who-knows-what. Apparently, the plan is for the players to cross from the locker room to the Heineken Lounge via the field because they're too precious to mingle with the fans. It's all new CBA stuff.
Ok, this inspired me to make some other updates to my replica stadium. I suppose I'll douse the fire tomorrow after the anniversary. It's time.
You need to change out all the awnings in the stadium and make them red/black. Far too much yellow...
Dammit! Dammit! Productivity today just took a nose dive. I was already fretting over the tiny old badge I need to update on the scoreboard, as that will require some misappropriation of company resources to accomplish. I also need the big MAPFRE behind the stage.
Land Grant is now an official partner of Crew SC. They are making an beer for the supporters (not sure if this is the one we have been voting the name for) and it will be available at the stadium and at bars throughout the city.
