I've got a couple of figures from OYO Sports for the U. of Washington Huskies and Seattle Seahawks. They aren't as solid as a LEGO minifig and more expensive, but as a unique bit of merchandise I didn't mind paying for them as a one-off.

Odds are this is the first step to a whole line of player minifigs like they have for other sports. Fans don't require licensing agreements with individuals though so that's an easy way to start the line. ;)

I noticed that and its odd that they made the picture that way. If you go to the website you see that each team has 3 different fans and they have more than just Caucasian skin tones.

Why would you say that. FC Caucasian sounds like a team from Baku, Dagestan or Tbilisi. Not all the figures are peachy white, they could be hispanic, asian or lighter shade of african american. Stop making assumptions.

I noticed one of them is the Red Bull figure; even inanimate objects are still pissed about the Petke firing.

Yet the Chicago Fire fan looks happy - almost smug... they really screwed this up!

that sounders fig is the only one not in an accurate primary for some reason... which freaking sticks out like a sore thumb when all of the others are PAINSTAKINGLY rendered to match their respective teams primaries to a T.

with that its official: Seattle invented mini fig fashion faux pas.

wow, these things take a crap load of attention to detail.

they even have figures with a team slogan/current marketing tagline on its shirt.

Houston's got "forever orange". New York has its somewhat repeated "run with us" tagline, the crew has "#crew96", etc. a lot of giveadamn was put into these, kudos to OYO or whatever its called.

yeah i don't know about the lack of diversity. every team has three figures, one "white" one "black" one "brown". seems to cover all the bases.

now it is a bit sexist as all of them are guys....

and it is strange that only seattle didn't get the jerseys right?

Though for the Rapids figures they went with "Colorado for life" over 5280. And no Transamerica logo. Not a surprise given the announcement less than a week ago.

When I bought my earlier figures I read up about the company. These are essentially Print on Demand and they vary their production runs on a weekly basis depending on how the athletes do. So if a big name pitcher throws a no-hitter they'll print more of him the next week knowing sales of his figure will go up in that week or two. So I wouldn't be shocked if the Rapids figure is changed by the time they're produced to reflect the new sponsor.

The fact that they've only done male athletes so far might be the reason that all the fans are male at this point.

They punted on some teams. FCD only has "Go Dallas," instead of #DTID, which some lawyer might've nixed, or something less generic.

That's a good point. I know the Rapids SGs have run into a problem using 5280 on merchandise at times because of 5280 magazine here in Denver.
