We haven't played decent competition since New England, we didn't even consider acquiring another striker all off-season, we didn't develop a consistent back-line in the off-season, we don't have a history of winning in Houston, and everyone is geared up to strike.

My bet is, if there actually is a game, Kamara tears his ACL immediately, the perpetrator will loom over him and accuse him of diving, Bedell will get subbed on, and then you all finally admit that our squad is too small, imbalanced, and myopically committed to a 4-5-1 where we just assume we will never get shut down in the midfield because, gosh darn it, we paid top dollar for guys like Saeid the Swede, Steindorseennhorsen, and kids like Gall, Speas, and Swanson.

OK, so all of that is an exaggeration because I'm grumpy about there maybe not being a season. I don't want Kamara to get hurt, but I think our back line + our finishing will need time to click together. Lose by 1.

It could be a season like last year except this time we won't have drunkin' ourselves silly with the kool-aid after JM ruined Seattle's evening.

I think we see Jimenez at RB. Grana has been gone for 2 weeks. I don't see him being fit to start. Too bad Klute hasn't shown more. It's his opportunity.

I remember their rookie Sherrod last year was just starting to tear things up offensively when he got injured, and now they've Torres too.

Lose by 2. Torres, Bruin with goals. Crew with good 'chances' but nothing more.

I thought Torres was on loan to Chivas till this summer. Is he back with the Dynamo for the start of the season?

Gotta wear black while we can, unless we're doing some sort of "tough man" thing. MLS equivalent of Green Bay, Cleveland, etc players not wearing long sleeves towards the end of the season?

Due to my exalted position in the pantheon of American soccer scribes - well, OK, so I have no idea why this happened - I ended up on the email list of a professional prognosticator named Jimmy Shapirowho works for some betting website called Bovada.

Anyway, a day or two ago he sent me this odds lineup, which I'll pass along without comment since God only knows if he has the first clue.

There are myriad reports, including one from Grant Freaking Wahl (We're not worthy) that have the Shitcago F*re boarding a plane today.

I'm wondering if anyone has word on whether the Crew has done likewise.

Normally in situations like this they do send the players out since the aternative is to leave them at home and if there's a last minute deal struck then everybody has to scramble to get the players to the game just prior to kick, changing into unis in the taxi in from the airport.

And since it's really the league's call and not the team's, I'm guessing the Crew will be headed to Houston momentarily.

Yeah, there's been no indication given that ownership will lock out. So there would be no reason for the teams not to fly down, and if players don't show up, then the strike has already begun.

My question is what happens if they fly down and then the players go on strike? Does the team/league still pay for the hotels, food per diem, etc.

There is no way the owners lockout the players; hey Orlando great job selling 60,000 tickets for your first game ever now we're going to poison your market by canceling the game. You can sell out the next one too right? Good business decision there.

Sorry, wasn't implying a lock out was even a remote possibility. Just saying that cancelling the flights, is essentially the owners locking out (again not going to happen) or the players have already started their strike. Since they haven't started their strike, I wouldn't expect anything to change.

Yeah I was just agreeing with you; your second question is interesting I somehow doubt the league would want the first optics to be a Chicago rookie stranded in LA without a hotel or a flight home.

I am 90% sure Cubo Torres is on loan until the summer at the Mexican Goats. If he scores this weekend then something is really up.

What role does Klute have for you guys this year? And do you think Gall makes the gameday roster?

I'm thinking Klute will be a late game sub and depth with both Francis and Grana getting the starting nod over him.

As for Gall, he's not been very impressive in the pre-season. I see him getting late game sub minutes at best.

This game better be f***ing on. Brum have been crap this offseason and I want to watch the Crew play well. I'm going to hold KCBus accountable if they don't play. No reason why I picked him, but I'm pot-committed now.
