We are back indeed. What a game!!! 31 shots on goal, 13 on target, 60% possession. They dominated the game, their build up play was superb, they combined so patiently and simply, it was a joy to watch. They missed quite a few chances, but overall it was a superb performance. I'm so glad Miki scored. He played a great game, assisted one and scored one if I'm not mistaking. Gundo, Sahin, Kagawa and Reus great again. They take Dortmund's game to another level. I just want to see more of Ciro in front of them... 9. place, 4 wins in a row. Next please @bvbSlash You were right
It seemed on one replay that Miki was crying during the celebration. I don't know, but I think I saw tears in his eyes. Anyway, this must be a massive relief for him. We can only guess what he was going through this season, but it surely wasn't pleasant.
31 shots vs Schalke, damn that ain't no joke. Well deserved convincing win today but we're not there yet.
Ciro has not started any of the 4 BL games you won The only game Ciro started in the last 5 was the loss to Juve and the one where the attack broke down
What I find interesting is that Kagawa left the pitch and Auba scored with Miki giving the assist and scoring later. Would you stick with Kagawa for the 10? I would, but based on his performance I would also keep Miki on the line up, he just has to play like this every game. Unfortunately there is no place for Ciro unless Auba gets tired or injured.
An important factor was the ball possession. They used it to recover and that allowed them to press effectively all game. We talked a lot about this before. How much influence did they really have on that possession is another question, but they seemed a lot more confident with the ball and that is important.
That, my friends, is how you kick someone's ass. Schalke have been lucky ever since Di Matteo took charge - winning some shitty 1-0 's and climbing to top 4. It was high time somebody showed them where they belong.
Yes Ciro is in an unfortunate position. We've finally found something that works and he wasn't in that configuration so he's not getting time. Hopefully he plays in the pokal, auba needs rest and it'll give him a shot to get back into things
That was by far our most complete game of the year. The midfield was absolutely dominant - and did a great job of taking away any time and space. Kagawa looks to have some confidence back, which bodes well for us moving forward. What a great game!! HEJA BVB!!
Kagawa should have had at least three assists today, but it wasn't his fault we didn't score from clear cut chances.
Based on what we saw today, BVB is able to not only break down stubborn, organized, tight defenses, but completely demolish them. The amount of chances we saw from non-counter situations, and with nine defenders behind the ball, speaks to that in volumes. Very happy to see this but the team needs to be in the mood like they were today. Juve second leg is mouthwatering. Everyone was on top of their game aside from Weidenfeller whom we (gasp) didn't get to see much in action. He made a couple decent plays but insufficient to judge as Schalke were completely neutered. Very happy that Miki scored. He had an excellent match and was barely spotted doing all that stuff we hate to see from him.
