Corsie is still training at home on her own so she is definitely moving out of the FA WSL as all the teams are in pre-season.
Did I or did I not call this??? Reign FC has signed Scottish defender Rachel Corsie (@RachelCorsie14) for the 2015 season. #LetItReign pic.twitter.com/AnTJl4c4Ij— Seattle Reign FC (@reignfc) January 29, 2015 I'm happy for Fishlock, save money on flights
Update We are now at 20 "signed" players again. I used signed because I haven't seen any press release about the club picking up the 2015 options on Kopmeyer, Barnes, Fletcher, Reed, Fishlock, Foxhoven, Little and Dallstream. So technically any of these players could still be waived though some less likely than others. If I was to put anyone on the bubble it will be Dallstream and Foxhoven but we will see. This list does not include Hein and Brigman who were both dropped this week. Updated Dallstream's position to be Forward in conjunction with the Reign website.
From what I understand, if players are not waived by the deadline date (which I believe was Sept 12th) their option was picked up. So any player with an option for 2015 should be considered signed. The only question is Mathias, who I can't find any announcement of ever having signed with FC Kansas City, so I don't know if she had an option or not. Technically any player can be waived, other than the allocations.
I still am curious as to the Veje signing. And how it counts against the roster now. Not to rehash the previous conversation. But I don't see how she can have a contract right "now" with the Reign if she is "under contract" with another team until July?!?
Technically these players may not count towards our total but I doubt Harvey will be making any serious signings to replace them. My guess is she might sign 1 or 2 of the rookies or trialist and probably waive them or demote them to the reserve team after the world cup.
OOhhh! I think Boston is gonna need some aloe vera after that burn.... Well one problem with that is you can't just demote them. So if they want to keep them as amateur reserves, they have to waive them, hope no other team claims them, wait 30 days for their FIFA amateur eligibility to return, and then finally they can be called up as an amateur replacement. Much simpler (and safer as there's no risk of losing them to another NWSL for at least a year) to just keep them as amateurs from the get go. So if they are going to sign them, you have to figure Harvey has some other amateur replacements lined up at least for that 30 day window.
Umm what is going on? I know she wasn't called for this tourny but as the article states, stripping her permanently of the captaincy speaks to a more deeper issue. I will ask Jayne during the Istria cup tournament. She is a strong willed woman, so anything can have happened or not happened behind the scenes.
Interesting. Based on the comment Fishlock made when Ludlow was hired, she spoke favorably of her. But you never know maybe something different was happening below the scenes.
I know nothing about the situation or the principals but I could see a situation where Fishlock was the old coaches girl and with the new coach coming in maybe she wants her own girl as the captain. Fishlock has never struck me as shy and maybe they just have differing opinions on things and Ludlow wants a captain who she knows is in her corner. That said, Id have kept Fishlock as captain because the position is a lot more than being on the coaches page.
I think it's simply a matter of planning/rebuilding for the future. Fishlock is 28 now... she'll be 32 for the next WWC. Ingle is 23 now... she'll be 27 for the next WWC. How many years left does Fishlock have? I dunno. But if she keeps playing year-round like she does now, she very well could be burnt out in a few years time.
According to a good number of posts about the USWNT, Fishock right now is near the end of her NT career.
If she was playingfor the US, which have a generous supply of good player she probably would be. But seeing the numbers of good Welsh players she would pobably make that team for several years after she no longer can make it in any NWSL team.
