It seems to me that a while back there had been some chatter about Sacramento TV stations wanting to broadcast SRFC's games on TV. But I don't think I've heard anything about this since then. Did I miss something? It's not a big deal for me personally because I'm going to pick up a Chromecast specifically to stream USL games this year. (YouTube on Roku can't handle live streams.) But it'd be a nice feather in SRFC's cap to be on local TV.
you make a good point. If they are going to get an MLS expansion slot they will need to have a local network deal. So getting ahead of the game and have all of their matches on a local network now. Right now the Kings are on Comcast Bay Area/California. San Jose Earthquake as well are part the main Comcast SN and all of the sub networks. As well all of the MLB, NHL, NBA, and NFL teams programing.
Is it? It'd be great if they were on KOVR. I just hadn't heard a peep about this one way or another. But I thought it was being discussed and that there was interest from local stations. Still, like I said, YouTube works just as well for me. I can certainly keep up with all the games even without a TV option.
Well, since 13/31 carried the championship game, they probably get first crack. I would figure that it could be made available on one of the digital subnets that all the stations now have available. Unfortunately, not all of the cable systems carry all of the subnets. For our case, Surewest only carries one subnet each for KCRA and KXTV. The production values for the YouTube feeds are actually pretty good, good enough to run them right up on-air for those folks who may not have dependable wifi.
Whether this new TV deal transpires or not, my new Chromecast arrived today and that (unlike my Roku) should enable me to watch live YouTube streams on my TV. Apparently, only a few devices will do that, Chromecast among them. Yes, I bought an entirely new device just to watch third division soccer on my TV instead of my computer. What times we live in! Anyway, I'm officially ready for the season.
I have a Roku and it's one of the only things I hate about it. Why no live YouTube? I don't get it. How hard is it to fix? Why so long?
Don't know and don't know. But Chromecasts are pretty cheap ... and maybe I'll find some other use for it too. Must be something I can do with it other than watch USL soccer.
I used Chromecast last year for a couple of games, and it provided much better results than the native web viewer on my TV. I consider it a bargain and think you'll like it!
