Wednesday, 2/11. 6 PM at the Upper 90 Club. All Crew fans welcome to attend. Refresher: This is where we sit around, listening to various Crew FO bigwigs and a few players talk, then we ask them questions before mingling. There's usually a cash bar and some complimentary appetizers or light snacks.
You skipped over all the angst. I mean, I know there's no angst in the Precourt era, but there used to be angst.
Email from the CFO: (Click image to RSVP.) For those that don't know, Gate 4 is the one immediately south of the Upper 90 Club.
I did not get that--but I'm not part of an official supporters group either. While I value it, I'm a little old for the Nordecke....
So, do those of you who have attended these before and have experience, is it going to be some glad-handing and back-patting or do you think they're there to listen to supporter concerns for the upcoming season, maybe an announcement or two?
Everyone is welcome, regardless of age, seat location or anything else. Ironically, I asked a question last year that went along the lines of "Now that we have our own semi-official TV channel, what about the possibility of putting this stuff on there AND streaming online? Having such stuff on TV would obviously lessen the server demand, making a smoother experience for all."
Last year started with McCullers talking for quite a while about the TV deal, as it had just been signed. It seemed like he was really trying to stomp out the flames as people seemed to legitimately listen and the rest of the Q&A session with him had almost nothing to do about TV channels. They legitimately listen to supporter concerns. This would also be a prime opportunity to ask about the reasoning behind the $5 increase in parking charges and it was also where they talked about the Car2Go Drop Zones and showed interest in having more "bike drop-off" games. Player-related questions are also fair game...ask them about that Capp Space guy that keeps being mentioned around here. While no players are mentioned on the email, there may be a chance one or two or even Frankie will also show up... I'd be surprised if Frankie does NOT show up. Any announcements probably won't be earth-shattering, but could be eye-opening (at least to people who congregate in the Nordecke.)
Bump! Tonight! If you haven't RSVP'ed, do so...but if you don't, I have a feeling you won't be bounced...but still nice to RSVP.
New league policy: No racism, sexism, pyro, trespassing (pitch invasions), assault and/or battery or any criminal activity. If an individual commits any of these acts in any MLS stadia, it's banishment from ALL MLS stadia until the individual takes a $250 class. Obviously, this comes from the league. Take your grievances up with them.
Is it safe to assume, though, if you have $100 million to spend on an expansion team the league's willing to look the other way on things which might "cross the line"?
I didnt see Peter last night so i asked specifically about the TV deal. "Has the Crew seen any return on their investment since changing from Fox to TW?" Andy wasnt shy about showing his displeasure though he was tight lipped about details. The Crew are locked into this deal till 2016. And that was it. Nothing more. Next Question.
