Poll will close at on February 28th, if I can do math correctly. Remember our conference is different this year. Here are the Eastern teams now. Shitcago, Crew SC, DCU, Montreal, NeR, NYCFC, NjRB, OCFC, Phily and TfC.
I think NE might be better. Other than that, I like our chances. Or we could pull a Dortmund. Who knows....
I'm going to hold off on my vote until after I see some pre-season games. I'm pretty optimistic right now - I don't see why #2 isn't within reach, possibly first.
Yeah, I want to see how we're scoring and who is doing the scoring before I think any accurate judgment can be passed on this roster. With all that being said, I think we can make the playoffs.
Houston and SKC moved back to the West. Then you look at the East and say "wow, maybe we can finish 2nd." Pretty much my thoughts.
The only team I have ahead of us in NE, and I think they're still head and shoulders above us. I like what Gregg is doing, and I (now) think he was a good hire, but I also don't expect the same kind of production from Finley and Meram, and I certainly don't expect us to have next to zero injury problems again. Hopefully having a decent forward in Kamara helps that. I'm going with 3rd right now.
DC was good last year, and I think they'll be good this year. New England was good last year, and will probably be better this year. Nobody else scares me. But it's possible that Columbus Crew SC will be better this year than they were last year, and still not move up in the standings.
I have a hard time believing this team would go on a 10+ game winless skid like they did last year. I feel we will see more points than last year because off this. Enough for 2nd? Maybe, but third feels about right.
This is why I don't recommend posting on BigSoccer by way of a microphone. Original post corrected for stupidity.
It's a shame because you were making such great progress this offseason. There was a lot of buzz, but then you went all Toronto. Maybe next year. As for the season, I'm not high on DC maintaining their form from last year. They've got some injury issues to start the season, Espindola had a career year last year so a dip could be expected, and I hate those bastards (that's worth a couple losses, right?). At the very least, we should be one of the top three teams. NE looks good, so I'd expect them to be there. NYCFC is scary in the attack and Kreis has the chops to navigate an expansion year. Still, hope springs Crewternal, so I think we do just enough to take first in the east. And Toronto - hahahaha! - will still suck, despite all the talent.
I'm not really sure where to put this so I'll throw it out here. My MLSLive auto renewed and I thought I'd take advantage of it and watched the Crew / Galaxy match from last year. This was my favorite match of 2014. Even though I didn't have the fanfare of being in the stadium and having 10 beers in me this time, I still really enjoyed the match. I want more of this in 2015 and I really think we are going to get it! I'm getting super pumped for the 2015 season. It can't get here soon enough! Let's hope there is no work stoppage!
It would be great to see them win the conference, but experience tells me to throw-em in a hat and pick'em. Too many variables (injuries, personalities, fatigue) for such a long season. Hat's off for the optimism, but try not to be shocked when they end up in Warzycha's spot.
I will be shocked. If we aren't in the top four. Last year was just so up and down. I think this year will be smoother. I'm naturally an optimist and I get what you are saying but if we don't improve on our point total from last year it will be disappointing.
The conference should be weaker this year with Houston and SKC moving west. I'll guess we finish 4th behind NE, DCU, and NYCFC.
I'll be pulling for them and I hope that with all the new players they gel quickly and are effective. Anything can happen. Look at what happened to Houston last year. At least we're not looking over the field at Warzycha anymore.
We still can't score goals. Kamara is a joke. Precourt won't spend money. Maybe I'm channeling Zak Bernardo but I've never been more pessimistic at the start of a season.
