Interesting ... so Republic FC's "extra 6" games - aside from the conference home-and-aways - are against Galaxy Jr. (2), Real Monarchs (2), and one each with Timbers 2 and Sounders 2. Which means if I'm still stuck in Portland this year, I'll get to see them twice. Or thrice if I feel like driving to Seattle. This almost makes up for last year's stupid July 4 grass-fire game cancellation ... on the one week I was back in Sacramento last year.
Few notes- 1. 12 of 14 Regular season matches are on Saturday nights. One Wednesday match, one on Friday. 2. State Fair is scheduled for July 10th-26th. Match against Galaxy II scheduled for July 11th. Friendlies will most likely be scheduled in July due to light schedule in July.
Probably both. They have five games left to hit the STH 20 games. Playoffs could account for 1 or 2 games. Any championship game is NOT included. They made sure to say that
Last year the USL clubs entered the US Open Cup in the second round that started in May. The schedule will most likely be similar this year so expect a Wed or Thurs fixture in May.
Friendly with the New York Cosmos scheduled for February 28 at Hughes Stadium: http://www.sacrepublicfc.com/republic-fc-host-new-york-cosmos/
I doubt Raul is going to want to play on that turf! Yuck! It's cool to bring the Cosmos to town but Hughes? Bonney field would be so much better. I doubt we are going to get high attendance for that.
I don't get the sense that SRFC fans are all that interested in friendlies. They're a little too sophisticated for that. That said, I hope they sell it out.
I do too - I just don't think they will. I mean, I'm a STH and I'm not really excited about this one, I may just skip it. But my tickets will be counted Im sure. I just have no desire to see soccer played on that "field" surrounded by a track. I don't think the Cosmos has a draw here as they would in a former NASL city. Will be interesting to see how many attend. I feel bad if any Cosmos fans travel to see what Sac is all about and have to see them play at Hughes.
Encouraging them to fall to an actual championship team, maybe ... Well if even 60% of those seats at Hughes are filled, it will beat the highest turnout Cosmos have ever seen.
If we're still standing, but a home game is far from guaranteed. SRFC enters USOC play in the 2nd rd., to be played May 20. Third rd play is May 27, possibly against a NASL opponent. Match-ups are based geographically, so if a lower division club from the west coast or another USL club are still standing, that will likely be our opponent because the nearest NASL franchise is Edmonton. Fourth rd play is June 16 & 17th, when MLS enters the fray. SJ is almost certainly the opponent here. Fifth rd, the round of 16, is June 30 to July 1. Fourth rd winners will be divided geographically into groups of four. A random draw determines the pairings within each group, resulting in a fixed bracket for the remainder of the tournament. Quarterfinals is July 21-22 Semifinals Aug. 11-12 Final Sept 29 or 30 http://www.ussoccer.com/stories/2015/02/04/12/45/150204-usoc-unveils-format-for-2015
if we are still in the fourth round and against the Quakes, maybe it can be played at the Quakes new stadium instead of Kezar. that would be fun.
I don't see why Quakes would want to do that. Attempt at marketing?? But it's basically throwing away home field advantage.
