Now that we have Brazilian ownership, with a really big name Brazilian owner, any possibility we will be able sign any big name players, Like the Cosmos seem to like doing. How about Ronaldinho......word is he is about to get booted out at his current club in Mexico. South Florida is Brazilian friendly!

Thus far the new owners have pissed off the Striker faithful by allowing a highly respected head coach, and a very good possible replacement, plus at least 2 key players leave. Usually by seemingly being inept at contract negotiations. They seem to have forgotten all the nice things they said about the team's future before the 2014 season ended and they took over the club. They've done this without ever saying anything official to kill any of the many angry rumors concerning their intentions.

They have said that the Strikers are not going to be a Brazilian farm team, but an 'American' team. Sounds good.

    We'll see.

To my knowledge, the only announcement regarding a player returning for 2015 has been Shawn Chin. As Antique said above, Strikers faithful are none to pleased by what we've seen, along with the silence from the new FO. It seems they were much more engaged in securing a Brazilian team to come train here for a few days and sign Ronaldo up to be a part owner than they were in actually getting to the business of trying to operate and move forward with a club that was one goal away from a championship last year. That's not the kind of professional club you normally seen stripped clean down to the bone, unless it is very overpaid. One thing Strikers fans down here can absolutely assure you of is that NO ONE associated with the organization last year, or any other year since the rebrand, has been even fairly paid, let alone overpaid. Traffic was a penny pincher of the worst kind, operating on a philosophy of the less we spend, the less we'll lose. These new guys claim to be something altogether different. Early results don't show it to be true, but we'll have to wait and see. So far they might just be bad at trying to negotiate and/or operate the player/coach side of a club. Maybe we'll get some answers when Mr. Bertani joins the Tailgate Show boys Thursday night at 7 PM. I know I'll be interested to hear what he has to say publicly for the first time about all that's gone on this offseason.

“It's a great honor to put pen to paper on a deal for the RailHawks. They have shown a lot of interest in me and is always nice to know you’re wanted,” said Mark Anderson.

It was this line from Sparky that killed me... inferred that the Strikers didn't "want" him. These owners are doing a bang up job so far...

I notice the same thing in his comment. Anderson is one of the best in the league, consistently. I don't know why the Strikers would not re-sign him, no matter who they are bringing in to the club.

Checked the team site today. We have seven players currently and have jettisoned the core of a championship-contending team, along with our beloved Gunter. Boy, I'm real excited for 2015.

    KARSTEN SMITH JOINS FORT LAUDERDALE
Defender brings domestic and European experience to Strikers

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (Monday, January 26, 2015) – The Fort Lauderdale Strikers today announced defender Karsten Smith has signed for the club for the 2015 season. Per team and league policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Smith, 26, joins the Strikers after two years in Europe. In 2013, the center back made 16 appearances for Finnish first-division side Vaasan Palloseura (VPS), helping the club to a third-place finish and UEFA Europa League qualification. He most recently played with Knattspyrnufélag Akureyrar (KA) in Iceland.

“Karsten Smith is a solid left-footed center back who has good professional experience here in the U.S. and has performed well the past two seasons in Europe,” General Manager Amaury Nunes said. “He has developed and matured as a player, and we look forward to seeing what he will add to our roster.”

Before going to Europe, Smith played professionally in the U.S. with former USL Pro side F.C. New York in 2011 and San Antonio Scorpions in 2012.

Smith played four years of college soccer at American University in Washington D.C. from 2006-2009, captaining the Eagles his junior and senior years.

I have to agree with you completely. I would add that this is how I feel about the other players they have just let go to any other team. They had some good players and now it's like Ft. Lauderdale is an expansion team - starting all over from scratch. How many people in FTL wish this group had purchased Phoenix from the USL a few years ago instead?

Strikers Add Another Defensive Reinforcement With Adeleye

The Fort Lauderdale Strikers announced Tuesday the signing of American-Israeli defender Ryan Adeleye.
Adeleye, 27, is an imposing presence comfortable playing across the defense or in front of the back four. He completed his NCAA career with the North Carolina Tar Heels before turning professional in Israel in 2009.
“Ryan Adeleye came from one of the country’s top soccer programs in UNC Chapel Hill and has five years of professional experience from the Israeli top division under his belt,” general manager Amaury Nunes said. “His versatility, strength, and speed will make him a key defensive player for the team this season.”

    Strikers Sign Sanfilippo, Frimpong

The Fort Lauderdale Strikers announced Tuesday the signings of former Tampa Bay Rowdies players Frankie Sanfilippo and Evans Frimpong. Per team and league policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed.
Sanfilippo, 33, was captain of the Rowdies for the entirety of his four-year spell in the Bay area. The defender made 100 league appearances for the club between 2011 and 2014 and led the team to the NASL Championship Trophy in 2012.

    Another one to Tampa Bay

    ROWDIES INK MIDFIELDER JUSTIN CHAVEZ
    THU 05 FEB

The Tampa Bay Rowdies added another talented midfielder to the roster on Thursday, with the signing of Justin Chavez ahead of the 2015 season.

Chavez, 24, made his professional debut in 2013 with the Fort Lauderdale Strikers, the club for which he played the last two seasons. He made 27 appearances (15 starts) in his time with the Strikers.

“With the signing of Chavez, we have more bite to our midfield,” said Rowdies head coach Thomas Rongen. “He is also a versatile young player who gives us depth on our roster.”

In his time with Fort Lauderdale, Chavez also played center back, giving the Rowdies additional roster flexibility. Chavez played 1,477 minutes for the Strikers.

Chavez played four seasons at the University of Tulsa in his home state of Oklahoma from 2008-2011. During his time there, he earned Conference USA First Team honors, as well as a spot on the Hermann Trophy watch list. He was selected by the Chicago Fire in the 2012 Major League Soccer Supplemental Draft but did not sign a contract with the club.

13 days until our first game (pre season) with Jacksonville and the Strikers, literally, barely have a team. 15 names on the roster as of today. The nice thing about low expectations is that there is a lot of room to be pleasantly surprised.

They likely have more signed but are spacing out the announcements from what I heard.
