Don't let the pic fool you. Dulce is young while his play is mature. Vello Facial aren't a happy losing him but they certainly understand his desire to expand his brand in the US. Rumor has it that that he's been approached about doing some "movies" on the side. His agent maintains that this will not distract him from futbol. Dulce is planning, according to his handlers, on setting up shop right in the heart of East Colfax. He wants to experience all that area has to offer. Dulce views himself as a "a man of the people." He's bold, ambitious, but wants his futbol -- not his good looks, wealth, and power -- to lift the Rapids to new heights.
Becuase our front office is terrible. The same front office traded a 1st round pick for Danny Mwanga.
Frankly I am shocked. I looked at the your roster yesterday to see what player it might be. Never thought Klute would be one of them.
W.T.F. You give up Chris Klute AND a draft pick this year and next year to move up 5 spots? Our Front Office is filled with morons.
Are we talking about 2013 Klute or 2014 Klute? Also, we have four other people on this roster that can play at LB; Harrington, Burch, Serna, and Neeskens. Of course, a lot of that hinges on if Sjöberg is actually comparable in ability to Klute.
After the Sarvas deal I was beginning to get a little hope that the Rapids were on the right track. This deal crushed those hopes again. No matter what you think of Klute. Trading him and another draft pick to move up 5 spots in a crappy draft is ridiculous.
Sounds like he is open to playing RB as well which is a need for us. So his versatility on the back line is a plus. Also his attacking abilities would seemingly mesh with what we are trying to do. Seems strange for Colorado to give him up for 5 draft spots.
Even still....Colorado had a pick 5 slots later and gave that player/pick AND Klute. So even if Klute is comparable to Sjöberg, another player was lost. So far it seems like a dumb dumb move. We already needed depth all around, and now we just eliminated more.
Report on MLS website regarding Klute deal makes no mention of Columbus getting our 2016 1st round pick. I think that was erroneous information that got out when the deal was first announced during the draft.
Final tally of the trade from the Post: http://www.denverpost.com/rapids/ci_27335803/colorado-rapids-deal-chris-klute-columbus-crew-sc Columbus gets:2 picks and Chris Klute Colorado gets: 1 pick
This is how the Crew are reporting it. "Crew SC traded the 14th overall pick to Colorado. In exchange, Crew SC received the Rapids’ 2015 First Round pick (19th overall) and future considerations." http://www.thecrew.com/draftcentral...wo-players-opening-rounds-2015-mls-superdraft
MLS's trade tracker shows #19 + Klute for #14 + allocation money? http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/artic...fseason-trades-here-mls-teams-build-2015-seas
Yeah, as foolish as it may be, I'm trusting how the Crew and MLS are reporting this over how the Denver Post reports it.
No foolishness there. The Post reporting is half the time verbatim off the Rapids website with no direct interaction with the club.
I was a bigger fan of Klute in 2013 than in 2014. He seemed to lose some of his offensive prowess and appeared mistake prone to me just last season. That said, I have to agree with everyone that is saying this was a bad trade move seeing how we gave up so much for a few Superdraft spots and an unproven MLS rookie.
Either way, no 2016 draft pick. To answer your question seriously, I'm going with the article from today that specifically relates to Klute, not the trade tracker article from yesterday.
The only logical way they would go for this trade is if they were weighing the following factors: 1) They think Axel is good. Really good. It could be possible they assumed he would get picked earlier, but then seized on an opportunity to grab him by swapping with Columbus. I did hear a rumor, totally unconfirmed by the way, that several clubs (including Salt Lake) were looking at him. 2) They don't think Klute has a lot of upside, or at least that he does not offer the things the team really needs right now. I think it's more than fair to say he had by far the most disappointing year of all of those 2013 newcomers (the others being Powers, Brown, and Irwin). It could also be possible that he was set to get a guaranteed pay increase that was not going justify his on-field performance. Basically if Axel does turn out to be pretty good and possibly first 11 ready, it's not a bad move. If Axel is a bust, then its a bad move for sure...though I'm not as convinced as some that it's completely terrible given how many LBs we have and how Klute performed last year. EDIT: If the Rapids received allocation money in the deal, it may have played a role in the deal to bring Sarvas here. But who knows? Allocation is basically one great big mystery box.
