Miller is a mother f*cking beast. In these two games he scored 2 goals and had 2 assist....again he gave another team a title. He did it single handedly for Liga in 2010, now he did it for Emelec, he ended up being the Top goal scorer of the Copa Sudamericana even though Emelec was eliminated in Quarter finals, 18 goals and 10 assists in the campeonato (only 2 away from the top goal scorer which is Wila with 20 goals) and he's not even a striker. That's all I gotta say.

This kid HAS to be a starter on the NT. There's no if, and's, or but's. This kid is probably the only ecuadorian player I can label as a "genio" with the ball. Miller-Cazares-Montero as the trident behind Enner and we are going to be devastating as f*ck. One hell of a freakin attack we got. There is not an excuse in the world Vizuete can have for not calling up Miller now. Not a SINGLE one after what he did this year. All the commentators agree he is the best player of the season and the best of Emelec. No excuses for Vizuete.

Congrats to Emelec, you guys deserved this campeonato and your system of playing is what I imagined I would end up seeing once Emelec hit their peak (even though it took a few years). Very nice futbol. And I think I said this earlier...Roberto Burbano is going to be a monster. I don't think I've ever seen a juvenil play a final like that. A good 90% of juveniles would eventually screw up and let the pressure eat them up, but Burbano is on another level. You guys have an awesome future with that kid, and we are all going to see him on the U-20 NT and although I think it will be hard for him to start due to the fact that our U-20 is THAT good, he will still be a luxury to pull off the bench and I really mean that. This kid attacks and defends like he was brought up in a top european league. VERY VERY tactically disciplined and as far as his individual talent, the kid is nuts with the dribbles, break aways, speed, and ball handling. Some commentators are saying that he reminds them of Jeff Montero when he was first in Emelec....just to give some people an idea in case they haven't seen Burbano. The kid is a machine.

This final goes down as one of the best and will be remembered for a while in the history of ecuadorian futbol. The Segunda Etapa was one of the most exciting I've witnessed and incomparable to the first half of the year. Great way to end the season.

ps. Note to Emelec and Nasib Nehme: BSC is selling Penilla between $6-7 million dollars to Pachuca. I think Cristian Suarez is being included into that transfer, but if Penilla is worth that much, Emelec should not hesitate one freakin bit to tag Miller Bolanos for a SOLID $9-10 million. No exaggeration. Especially if it's America that wants him. You compare Miller's numbers to Penilla, and Miller accomplished 3-4 times more this season.

Assuming our squad stays intact, we'll be tittle contenders next year. Bolanos and Mena are in the prime of their careers. Health permitting, they will continue playing at a high level. Heck they might even play at a higher level - I don't think they've reached their peak just yet. Having a healthy Gaibor for a full season will also help.

I do think we can stand to upgrade at several key positions - LB and CB being the two positions that top the list. Bagui is getting up there in age and mileage so it'd be a good idea to look for a better alternative. One name that comes to mind is Mario Pineida. I think he'd fit in beautifully with our squad. That being said, the odds of us acquiring him are zero. I doubt Independiente would seriously consider selling him to a direct rival. If they sell Pineida it'd be to a foreign team. One can dream though right?

A quality CB should also be at the top of the agenda. We might not need to go out and sign someone either, we have a viable in house candidate - John Narvaez. I've always said that Narvaez is best used when played at CB. With the exception of Erazo, there's no Ecuadorean CB that comes in even close to the technical and ball distribution skills he possesses. That's just a fact.

Emelec's future is bright. We have a solid core as well as well as some young players coming up that deserve a shot at more playing time. Burbano, Angulo, and Jaime are all players to look out for in 2015.

I also agree with John Narvaez being the most viable option in center back. I think him and Achilier would make a strong duo. BUT, there's also that kid Jordan Jaime (center back) who supposedly "pinta para ser un gran jugador" according to the ecuadorian media. He's supposedly one of the best upcoming center backs in the country. And to be honest, at one point he did bench either Achilier or Guagua (can't remember which) and started a Copa Sudamericana game where he suffered that long 6 month injury which he is still recovering from. I'm pretty sure he has another 4 months to go. Had that injury not occurred, I'm pretty sure Jordan would've ended up consolidating himself and winning that spot in Emelec's starting 11. What Emelec needs are jugadores laterales con oficio. You mentioned Pineida and I agree that he would be a great option. I even think Emelec could do something like: Achilier-Narvaez-Jaime-Pineida....keep Bagui, Guagua, and Jose Luis Quinonez on the bench. Just a thought.

I always also going to mention Jordan Jaime (center back) and Bryan Angulo. The few games Angulo played IMO were VERY impressive. I don't know what Emelec does at youth level, but it's incredible how fully developed these kids enter into the first squad playing ball like they've done it for a few years already in first division, yet in reality they have 0 experience. It really doesn't show when you see them play. I'm positive that kid Bryan Angulo is going to make noise REALLY soon. As long as the three guys (Jordan Jaime, Bryan Angulo, and Robert Burbano) stay healthy, they'll more than likely gain an important role in the first squad. Burbano at the end of the season ended up consolidating himself and taking the starting spot from none other than Marcos Mondaini. Bryan Angulo IMO is better than Charcopa. I actually see Charcopa not getting much shine in Emelec along with Mauro Fernandez. Burbano and Angulo are an amazing pair of talent you guys have and it will be tough for an older Mondaini and Gimenez to stay playing at the level they are at right now. That's why Mondaini lost his spot to Burbano at the end of the season. Miller, Mena son fijos. Herrera can win a spot and Burbano can keep his spot as long as he keeps that level of performance up there. Mondaini, Gimenez, Angulo, Charcopa and Fernandez are all gonna be fighting to be substitutes. Some may not even make the bench. If I were Emelec I'd loan out either Angulo or Charcopa for next season to get them playing time elsewhere. I find it very difficult for Fernandez to win a spot although many claim he's a great player. At this point it's just very very difficult to gain a spot in Emelec. It's the team with the best squad in country hands down.

Another thing...it's the moment to bank off Mena and Miller. Especially Miller. It's going to be very hard for him to have another season like his last although he's in the best moment of his career and this is far from his peak. Miller is a player that IMO is europe-bound (top league) as long as he doesn't lack discipline. He's another breed of player that isn't seen often in our country. Like I said $9-10 million isn't asking for too much. $8 million would be an amazing deal for the purchaser if you ask me. And Mena (26 years old) you could probably sell for a solid $4 million maybe even $5 million. In two transfer Emelec can make double digit numbers in millions. I know Libertadores is a dream and it's around the corner, but the monetary gain is present now....and it may not be present tomorrow so Nehme better make his move with at least one of those players. Either way the bench is filled with talent and with younger players like Burbano, Charcopa, and Angulo I would feel safe letting go of Miller or Mena b/c in the mid-long run these kids are gonna become great players as well.

IMO the best 11 for you guys next season could be:

Dreer; Achilier, Narvaez, Jordan, Bagui(for now); P.Quinonez, Gaibor; Burbano, Miller, Mena; Herrera (Angulo)

Jaime is going to be out until at least March. Even then it might take him a while for him to get back in game shape. Remember S0rnoza?...he injured his knee back in 2011 and he wasn't the same for quite some time. His injury wasn't as serious as Jaime's either. Sometimes the mental recovery takes longer. I don't really know what to expect of Jaime next season. I would like nothing more than to see him receive his fair share of playing time, however I just don't see it happening right now. Emelec is going to be patient with him and his recovery, and as well they should, no need to rush it.

Another option for a lateral might be Andres Lopez. He's another player that's a good fit for our squad. While he's not as good as Pineida, he's a decent player in his own right. It's also time for him to make a move to a bigger team too. Nothing left for him to achieve at Deportivo Cuenca.

Emelec does have a decent collection of young talent. I expect to see more of them in the upcoming season as well. I think Quinteros is going to start breaking some of them in. Not just Angulo, Burbano, and Jaime but Aleman, Noboa, and De La Cruz (the new kid they signed) as well. Bolanos and Mena might not be here for long so it'd be wise for us to start looking (and grooming) their internal replacements.

I don't think its time for us to sell Bolanos and Mena. Sure they might be at peak value but I think Emelec is going to try to make a serious run at Libertadores this year. Having Bolanos and Mena on the squad will be crucial towards that. I would also keep Charcopa and Angulo on the squad. While there might be players ahead of them on the depth chart, injuries and suspensions have a way shaking things up.

This actually raises a pretty good question...who's worth more: Cazares or Bolanos?...Maybe I'm being biased but I would have to go with Bolanos. At this point in time he's the more complete player.

bolanos is definitely worth way more he is a complete player and has stats and preformed well to prove his price tag Juan has done good but not at the same level as bolanos cazares is probably priced at 4 to 5 million

during the middle of the year (before his amazing segunda etapa) I did mention here that Miller Bolanos is A LOT better than Cazares. Cazares is a great player, but Miller is something else. So no, you're not being biased. Cazares le falta mucho para ser como Miller and that's the truth. The only reason Miller isn't in a top European league is because of the lack of discipline he had in the earlier years of his career. That's the only thing that held him back, but the kid was a crack since he was 18 years old and played amazingly well in international cups with Liga when he was that young. Few players can pull that off.

I'm hearing that Angel Mena is being valued at nearly $10 million as well. I think that's a bit exaggerated and I don't know if that's true. What I do know is Miller's price tag is $10 million for sure. I think Emelec shouldn't attempt to price Mena any more than $6 million. No one will pay more than that.

Emelec could easily make above $15 million in two transfers. And take into account that with the sale of Marlon, Marcos Caicedo, and Enner they already reached $15 million. That'd be $30 million dollars within 2 years and some change. Talk about a team who's doing things correctly.

And the future looks VERY bright with Robert Burbano, Fernando Gaibor, John Narvaez, Javier Charcopa, and that kid Bryan Angulo.

With that type of money Emelec can think about winning a Copa Libertadores or Sudamericana which IMO should be their next goal. All Emelec needs to do is improve their defense. When Jordan Jaime recovers I think he should be projected to becoming the starting center back with Narvaez and place Achilier as a full back. And definitely replace Oscar Bagui pretty soon.

Emelec's finances are fundamentally sound. The sale of De Jesus, Caicedo, and Enner obviously helped towards that. Even before that they benefited from the sale of Jaime Ayovi and Joao Rojas. Add up all the transfers and that's a lot of dough. Having money at your disposal is of little use if you don't know how to spend it. In contrast to other clubs, Emelec knows what to do with the money they get from transfers. You don't really see them spend lavishly on foreigners or even domestic players. The income they generate goes towards player development and actually paying their players. Some of the income they generated over the last several years was also earmarked towards the renovation of their stadium. Neme is a smart man and he's done an excellent job during his time as President. He'd have no trouble beating Chiriboga if he ever decides to run as President of the FEF.

As for Mena being valued at $10 mil?...that's a stretch. I would say $4-6 mil sounds about right.

Emelec is keeping every single player they can. Oswaldo Lastra i think signed for a few more years. Miller signed til 2019. En Robert Burbano signed til 2019 as well. I think Mena has a long contract too. Emelec is rolling in money.

Now onto another subject....Miller continues to be a goal scoring machine. Jeez! 4 goals already in the campeonato and 1 in Copa Libertadores (scoring the winner in Chile). Nasib Nehme was very smart for keeping Miller for a longer period. After these 6 months and the Copa America, Emelec can possibly have the biggest transfer in ecuadorian club history if Miller maintains this form. I'm amazed at how he just doesn't seem to slip one bit. He's not even at 100% just yet. He's like 90% of how he finished last year (but that's normal cuz the season just started). With 2 more games in I can see him reaching his full form. Same with Angel Mena. The only player that needs to get back 100% on his groove is Robert Burbano, which I'm positive will happen. Poor Fernando Gaibor.....it's gonna be tough for him to play in Emelec after all those injuries. So many players have consolidated themselves in Emelec and now Gaibor is just another option. The good thing is Quinteros believes in Gaibor's potential, so he's been giving him minutes trying to bring him back slowly but surely. The bad thing is Quinteros will be gone soon and who knows if Gaibor is the type of player De Felipe will like.

Anyways, excellent team....If De Felipe doesn't screw anything up and keeps Quinteros momentum, Emelec esta para dar la sorpresa en la Libertadores. Esta vez si esta para llegar lejos. Good luck to you guys. It's your moment to shine. Don't screw it up.

not really an emelec fan but i truly support any Ecuadorian team doing anything internationally De Felipe first game is tomorrow vs international at home the good thing is that this and the game against universida de chile are at home we are first in the table as of now our only away game is vs the strongest which isnt an easy game either hopefully there momentum keeps going they have a team capable of making it to the quarter even semifinals all de felipe has to do is keep them going and get them out of group stages hopefully in first place in their group i really wish quinteros would have left earlier de felipe should have been coaching the game vs el nacional a little unfair for him but i hope tomorrow goes well for him none the less this is most likely his line up for tomorrow

WOW!! That could've been a 4-1 at the end. Too bad Lastra lost his head and got red carded for being retarded. When you act like that you don't go far in these tournaments. EVERYTHING and I mean EVERYTHING has do go absolutely PERFECT for you to go far in these tournaments and win them. Emelec has the tools to advance farther than ever, but they need to use their freakin heads. The minute you lose your head all your work goes down the drain in an instant. I don't know if Quinteros not being there anymore meant that there was no control, but De Felipe better give these guys a lecture lol. Especially Mena, Narvaez, and Lastra. Narvaez siempre juega al limite. Lastra usually is clean and doesn't commit stupidities like today's. Mena is usually a bit calmer as well. The chances to qualify are still VERY much in Emelec's favor but they gotta keep calm. They need to mentally prepare themselves better for what's to come. As far as the futbol goes, there's no denying they are a phenomenal team.....Jeez. With 10 players Emelec still had 3 extremely clear goal opportunities at the end. 2 from Bolanos and 1 more Narvaez. I can't believe they missed that. Emelec is usually more calm in front of goal but I guess the stress, anxiousness, and tiredness got to all them. The desgaste was huge so it's understandable. Anyway, I think Emelec could have this in the bag....even in their next game in Bolivia vs. The Strongest I think they have great chances to leave there with 3 points. Lastra won't be there, but I'm pretty sure Pedro Quinonez will be back. Pair him with Burbano and have Gaibor on as a sub and you're set.

emelec players are going to be at it none stop i hope there up for it physically and mentally they have el campionato, libertadores and the national team to think about and i know quinteros saw what had happened today he should scream at them as well never saw them lose there cool like they did today but that definitely has to stop and de felipe should stop this now before they let it affect them later but over all forgetting the fouls the red card and them losing there heads great game they just cant hold them selfs back mentality will always be an issue for us and our players no matter how good the player is even valencia lets himself get beat by his mentality boy if only we had that European mentality players like pirlo have we would be unstoppable the day of they won the 2006 world cup he treated it like any other day he didnt care about it he played ps2 all morning watched tv then went of an just won a world cup things like that are just admirable hopefully de felipe handles this well and quinteros keeps them in line they have to keep going

I notice Emelec is losing their mojo right now without Gustavo Quinteros. Their style of playing seems different now. You can tell it's not the same. My guess is their Libertadores run won't be as good as expected. Looks like the new coach is pushing Emelec out the lane they were going in.

my thoughts....why change something that was working like a machine?

Your right they are not going to have a good Copa Libertadores Narvaez had one of his worst games ever vs Independiente that definitely going to push him away from being considered in the nt.

Emelec performance in general is going to affect Millers and the rest of the players growth. I think now players like Mena and Bolanos should definitely move on to other leagues. If Emelec continues to preform like this that should definitely change the way Quinteros look at these players. It already obvious that Mena should not start on the nt Lastra is way too slow and is not the ideal player to start either.

Jefferson Orejuela is a great player Quinteros said the next call up he would give younger players a chance I would love to see how he goes about doing that who he does and doesn't call this time.

Wow. Emelec vs IND is one of the best games I've seen this year from Ecuadorian league. What a match. The ref though... how is he even a ref?! Should be fired ASAP. Still, the match was entertaining as heck. Golazos by both teams.
