And we get...Monaco! That's a fantastic draw. Any French league watchers out there that have thoughts? Should be fun.
Gooners....Please show me some LOVE. I called it on thursday and even called the PSG-Chelsea as well. " I have a sneaky feeling that for ONCE we are going to get the luck of the draw. Monaco or Porto this year. Specially Monaco since Arsene was their manager back in the days. I would love to see a remake of PSG-Chelsea as well" charlie15, Thursday at 2:56 AM Report #114 Quote
Monaco is really solid defensively. They are hard to beat, well organized and well coached. They have some very good players, nice mix of vets and promising prospects, Subatic the keeper is excellent, Abdenour the CD is a beast, Toulalan is on the top of his game, Joao Moutinho is playng well. Their youngsters are promising, Kursawa (best french LB in my book), Kondogbia, Martial their CF, Ocampos and Ferreira-Carasco the wingers. They beat Marseille last night 1-0 and are peaking at the right time. Having said that, it is the best draw in years. We should not underestimate them and they are a serious opponent. However, we have enough offensive firepower to go through and I am moderately confident. To add to the intrigue, Arsene is going back the memory lane and to the Rocher (The rock - AKA Monaco) where he was a successful manager. Great story.
It really is a great draw for us. A few of the big clubs will play each other and knock a few out. But enough average teams playing that we have a decent chance at another good draw if we make it through.
Basel v Porto means someone who wins the first knockout stage pretty much may get an (almost) free pass to the semis. I hope that's us, we deserve it.
delighted with arsenal's draw. can't say i'm too excited for the other games however. would love to see psg beat chelsea this year, but i don't see that happening. every year schalke are a bigger waste of space in the knockout stages than we are.
What a great draw. Though I would certainly not wish to tangle with Barca, Real or Bayern it certainly appears that there will be a number of beatable teams in the quarters. If we can find away through Monaco a matchup against Juve, Porto or this year's Athletico would all see Arsenal as potential favorites to the semis.
This; holy crap was I surprised this morning watching the crawl on FSLive seeing all the matchups and dreading "Arsenal v. Bayern/Real/Barca". When I saw Arsenal draw Monaco... So...good times.
Lots of nice draws for the new year: PSG wants payback for last season with Chelsea. Man. City wants to overturn Barca. Schalke's dreading getting annihilated by Real. Good stuff to look forward to.
What are you implying, Charlie? Did you personally have a hand in warming up UEFA's balls before they were drawn?
Last year and the year before, yes. 3 and 4 years ago, however--while The Arsenal were still getting knocked out in the round of 16--Schalke went to the Quarter Finals and Semi Finals respectively. Proof that the world of football is all about what have you done for me lately. In two year's time, most non-Arsenal fans will forget we ever won the FA cup in May if we go right back to being shite.
that happened once, and they were pumped out by man utd. a feat identical to our own a few years earlier. two years? we've already reached that point.
I'm on my phone, so it's hard for me to judge, but is that real? I don't know what that reaction video would've come from if not, but if that actually happened they're going to get destroyed by the media.
i really hope it's real but I doubt it. I'm also struggling to come up with an alternative scenario for that reaction though. Someone should make a gif of kompanys face. Priceless
It's a relatively short loop, there are a total of 4 or 5 yes signs. Note the quick reappearance of the Canadian Flag.
Yeah, I assumed it couldn't possibly be real, but I'm now intrigued by where that video came from. Edit: I don't see the Canadian flag you speak of. Where? When?
Jake, can't tell you my secrets, mate. Otherwise, as they say, if I tell you, ......you know what comes next...Don't want that to happen!
