Didn't make much difference against a ten man Honduras, but it could come back to bite them later in the tournament.
Man, I hope we don't sell Kos to them oil clubs in the future, dude has really evolved into one of the best CB of the game these days.
guess it depends how legend is defined...I stand that for them in the 90s he was a ********ing beast....
Kos scored a brilliant goal to open the 2014 campaign. So what does a player have to do to get his own song at the Emirates? I've heard he's even lobbied for it (which I'll admit is not the best way to get your own song, but after becoming an integral part of our defense in recent years, he's more than earned it.) Seriously, what's the process? Its not like you need a certain number of syllables in your name to make certain songs work. Hell we turned 'Nasri' into a 3 syllable word when we did the whole 'Na, na na na, na na na na, na na naaaa...' thing for Samir. How does than song not work for Kos? It's been long enough that it doesn't feel recycled. And its fun to sing! Na, na na na, na na na na, na na naaaa... Laurent Koscielny! Koscielny! Laurent Koscielny-eh! Consider it submitted. Now spread the word!
I have been a Kos fan from day one, but no way in hell he will be No 2 before Sol. As a matter of fact, I don't get how Sol is not on that list.
I agree with @charlie15. As much as I like LK, he can't be compared to legends like Adams, O'Leary (772 games for AFC over 18 years!!), or even Sol Campbell quite yet. Maybe in another few years.
I know he was only here for 4.5 years(5 if you include his hiatus) but, for me, its Sol then the rest. He was the cut diamond that transformed us from bridesmaids to the The Invincibles. There's no way that twerp, Owen, wins the ballon d'or if Sol was with us a year earlier.
Kos was strong at the back for us yesterday, I'm glad to see he's regained his fitness and his bitch-flooringness. In related news, during Martinez's post-game interview, he mentioned that Per and Lolo have made it easy for him to step in as Arsenal's keeper. Lolo? I've been calling him Kos or Kozzer since he showed up at the Emirates, how did I miss that his teammates call him Lolo?? I'm not even sure I like Lolo. Does he? There are less than 5 mentions of 'Lolo' in the entire Arsenal Big Soccer board. That's Lolo.
Yeah, that is his french nickname (Laulau in french) . We look really secure at the back with him. What a boss....
Given the dominance of Per and Kos (when healthy) and their apparent friendship, I see no reason why the BFG's buddy Kos shouldn't be referred to as the BFF. It works on multiple levels . . . the Big F'n Frenchman, Best Friends Forever, you get it. The BFG and his BFF. Embrace it.
Look at that- 3/23 clean sheets without him (13%) and 26/31 with him (83%). Yeesh. Very simply, he's probably the best defender in the league but isn't charming like Kompany or 'ard like Terry so he gets none of the attention.
He's been my favorite Gunner for a couple of years. He is world class and is the best defender in the league for my money.
I have to say, in terms of raw talent alone, Sol Campbell was even better than Adams or Bould. I'd argue, at his peak, he was the best we've ever had, and easily among the top defenders of the modern era. In fact, given the defenders running around Europe during the late 80s and 90s, Adams and Bould were no where near the top, individually. This was the time of Maldini and Baresi! However, the Graham back-5 was far more than the sum of their parts, and was rightfully, considered one of the top defenses in Europe. I think Kos/Per is similar in the regards. I don't rate them that highly on an individual level (compared to someone like Pique, for example,) but I rate them very highly together, and I love them to bits precisely because they love us as well. That emotional attachment counts for so much. It's a whole different feeling altogether when you see the reactions from the players who truly care, whenever we succeed at anything.
