Jake being signed for next season is dependent on a visa being granted.

I don't know anything about immigration or employment law, but I'd imagine there wouldn't be a problem as he's playing top-tier football.

    Must have Irish ancestry somewhere.

Then again, Connor O'Brien apparently couldn't get a passport, and if someone with that name can't . . .

Irish ancestry doesn't entitle you to an Irish passport. The rules are tight enough.

Manager taking a look at a couple of other yanks.

One of the big ‘hits’ with the fans last year was American striker Jake Keegan, and there is a chance he will be joined by more of his countrymen at the Dyke Road venue next season.

“Jake has signed, subject to a work permit being granted, but hopefully that won’t be a problem, and I’m not ruling out going to that side of the world for one or two more players. I have been told about a couple of players who could be worth a look at, so hopefully we’ll be able to get them over for a look,” Dunne said.

No word if Jake's permit has come through or not yet.

A Yale graduate is on trial at Galway Utd at the moment.

Jake's work permit was granted today. He's flying in this week sometime.

    Story.

Jake replaced goalscorer Enda Curran on 54 minutes tonight, in a 1-0 pre-season home victory over Athlone Town.

FWIW a college team in Ireland (UCD excepted) is what Americans call club soccer. It's entirely unpaid for the players.

    Jake assisted the first goal

and scored a penalty after he was taken down in the box.

3-2 win. Galway play provincial rivals Sligo Rovers in the next round, barring a monumental upset in their tie tomorrow.

Match highlights including Jake Keegan penalty.

Post-match press conference Jake Keegan and manager Tommy Dunne.

The EA Sports Cup is not very well regarded. Once upon a time it was played as a warm up for the season. Less people were in attendance than at the pre-season friendlies. Nobody cares about it until they get to the semi-final stage and they get the sniff of a final or a trophy.

Jake was dropped in favour of Enda Curran last Friday, who was completely ineffective. Would be surprised if Jake didn't start tomorrow night. Jake up front is Galway's best option.

Excellent win on Friday night. Jake ran his heart out. Straight red for one of our CB's for a phantom foul, meaning the goalscorer, Jake's strike partner, had to be sacrificed to bring on a defender. Played with 10 men for 70 minutes and were unlucky not to have scored at least once more.

Jake had a couple of chances (around 2 mins and 3 mins in the video), the first of which imho, he missed because he had been tugged. Probably should have gone down. Second chance was good work but unlucky.

We worked hard all game, even before the early dismissal.

Jake is #12 as always. You can watch in 4k quality if your connection and pc can handle it.

Jake is certain to start against Cork City away tonight, as Curran has suffered a calf strain. I don't agree with it, but I think Dunne will revert to one up front.

Kevin Garcia (from Queens) who just got clearance may well play, as there are 4 defenders missing at the moment.

Might be a bit much to play 90 minutes against the team that lost the title on GD on the last day against the winners last season, but needs must... He's left-footed and versatile.

A regular player for a newly-promoted League of Ireland side (in fact any League of Ireland side) representing Ireland? That's a good one. May as well scout the USL-pro.

    Not. Going. To. Happen.

If he gets signed by a League 1 promotion challenger, then you can ask that question with a straight face.
