Johnston and Boxx did not make the qualifiying US team. Press did. http://womens.soccerly.com/2014/10/02/uswnt-concacaf-world-cup-qualifying-roster/
It makes me feel better that she was next on the list. Dunn wouldn't have been the one I wanted replaced though...
If the Red Stars can get everyone signed, and with a couple of good draft picks, they should be OK. The question is the Canadians. Red Stars have 4 of them. Will the Canadian Fed put their players in the NWSL? Also, I'm predicting that central defender Sammy Scofield out of Notre Dame becomes one of Rory Dames' college draft picks. Remember this prediction folks, and see if I'm right.
Depending on availability, and if they were to draft a CB, I would guess it's Oyster before Scofield.
Personally, I'd prefer they go after Dydasco or Campbell because either would be an upgrade over Quon.
I hate to be mean, sorry, but an Eclipse Select U-18 defender would be an upgrade over Quon. She gets burned consistently, gets pushed off the ball and gives the ball away too much.
I'm not sure if this belongs at the end of the 2014 thread or the beginning of a 2015 thread, but.... what??? 526825630277857280 is not a valid tweet id =edit= Oh wait, may be nothing. The immediately previous time Arnim was pinged on Twitter? 526802727633158144 is not a valid tweet id
Yeah, I think that tweet was a joke. But I do like this response to someone's response to it: 526832002302246912 is not a valid tweet id Good goal to have. Now how are they gonna do it?
Yeah, by making that very vague Tweet (without directly replying to the Shirt Co), he got a lot of people thinking there was something big upcoming for the club - even the Local134. But yeah, he generally gives very good replies like the one you mention. This was just a good show of his humor I guess - which, I notice, was also on display when someone saw him at the Chicago WWCQ games and asked if he was scouting: 525875293433499648 is not a valid tweet id
I have to 100% agree with MRAD on this one, he seems like an awesome guy. I know I got an email last week with an incentive program for season ticket holders who get others to buy tix..... signed merch and other rewards depending on how successful you are. Amirite or does there seem to be some kind of constellation of WOSO publicity right now coming from many different areas of the world? Can it be a turning point for ongoing WOSO attention and league viability in multiple places?
How was MRAD involved in this? Was he one of the tweeters? Anyway, I don't think anyone here was saying that he's not an awesome guy...
Nope, as far as I know - although not following tweets so can't say.... just his ongoing commentary on the awesomeness of Armin. You misunderstood me if you think I was casting some shade on someone's comments about Red Stars or their owner. I enjoyed the referenced tweets - that's all.
I can neither confirm nor deny involvement in any of this. And yes, Arnim is a great guy who is very approachable.
BTW, I also saw and talked to Arnim at the WWCQ game at Toyota Park. I think there are some very cool things planned and hopefully happening for next season. I personally mentioned to Arnim that I would like to see another preseason game in St. Louis between FCKC and Red Stars. It was a very cool event and St. Louis represented. A very good way to share the NWSL with fans of other cities.
Hey, I just wanted to let you guys know just what you have to appreciate. I am a soccer bobblehead collector and a Houston Dynamo and Houston Dash and Houston Aces fan. I posted a photo of my collection in a women's soccer supporter facebook group and mentioned that i was a collector and was still missing some of the 2007 women's team bobbleheads. It was a random comment in a discussion with other fans and out of the blue, the owner of the the Chicago Red Stars post a message that he had some of the ones I was looking for in his inventory and that I could email his inventory manager and purchase them from the club. He didn't have to do that. I didn't even know he was in the group. Appreciate what you have. And by the way, I have found no other NWSL team that has all of the special fan opportunities and abilities to purchase cheap autographed action photos of the players and stuff that the Chicago Red Stars website has. (And trust me I went looking at all the other clubs when I saw you could get autographed photos for 25 bucks from your club!) Talk about busting their ass to make it a great experience for the fans and young girls who dream of being professional players one day. Take advantage of that stuff and be grateful and proud. I wish the Houston Dash had half of those opportunities you guys have.
I wasn't really familiar with Jackie prior to NWSL, but enjoyed watching her play and agree that with her friendly and approachable personality she has been a real marketing/PR plus for the team. Wish her the best.
