It was expected and not something I would disagree to. The same coaching staff as well which will help him. The qualifiers itself will be quite hard as we wont know what can happen with the new format. But there is still time to prepare for.
As much as we fans groan at LGJ teams' performances, there's no denying that his teams have always achieved results above expectations.... I'm starting to appreciate LGJ more now, especially after seeing that U-19 fiasco under Kim SH... I'm predicting that we'll get the same ol' frustrating LGJ style performances but still somehow grabbing that qualification berth in the end, as he always does. This team should be interesting as the base of the team I'm guessing will be the U-20 generation from 2 years ago, probably with some additions in attack from this year's U-19 team like SMW, HHC etc. I'm thinking it's probably a bit too early for guys like Lee SW, Jang GH, Baek SH etc to be involved, at least for the qualification stage...
Yes. Minus the wildcard from Asian game squad, zero player from Asian games was born after 1993. So, if the team does qualify, coach lee's gonna have to do it with a completely new squad. Which I believe that it's an insane task. And the new qualification format could be very tricky as well. Instead of the prior group winner of 4 with home and away, it will be a tourney similar to u19 afc championship. And the top three finishers will qualify. I would really prefer to have it way before this. But we just gonna have to tough it out. And one easy wildcard if we do qualify will go to son. Let hope we can duplicate the success back in 2012.
Yeah, I really hate the tournament qualification format because IMO it is really harsh... a team can have just ONE off day on the day of the quarterfinals and get eliminated in a single game, and I hate that fact (same with U-17/U-19 etc). I especially remember the U-17 generation from 2 years ago that played awesome ball in the group stages winning all three games but then getting eliminated by Uzbeks on PK's, so basically they lost their shot at the World stage not having officially lost even one game IMO the old league format is the most fair, and if they are so insistent on having a tournament for it I think they should at least make the quarterfinals two-legged or something like the CL, I dunno...
the idea is that they are streamlining it. but in reality they are crippling an edge i think the Asian sides had since all the other continents had tournaments and we had groups with home and away fixtures like normal Euro/WC qualification. if we had 4 spots at the olympics i would be more inclined to be ok with it. but with only 3 it makes it increasingly difficult. we know Iraq is strong and Japan put more focus on the U-23 level than the others so it will be increasingly difficult. much will depend on the draw and groups.

I remember seeing Lee Woo Hyuk once when he scored a FK(+ assist). I guess he lost his spot on the team when the Brazilian manager left. @3:00
Lee GJ has told he will give Lee Seung-woo chance: "Instead of official matches, I will call Lee Seung-woo in training time to give him a chance to compete with others. After the U-17 WC. But not now. I have no thoughts of using him for Olympic Qualifiers. Despite being 3 years younger, he is good. Next year when he improves his fitness and power he will be competitive with the 22 year olds." But alot will be dependent on what he shows in next year's U-17 WC.
[U-21] The team drew 1-1 with China. Lee Young-jae (our new Ulsan player) scored the goal only for China to equalize in second half.
Full First Half: http://sports.cntv.cn/2014/11/14/VIDE1415969759109867.shtml (Not the prettiest of football..) Starting XI: Cho Suk Jae (19) Shim Gwang-wook (8) ... Lee Young Jae (10) ... Ahn Hyeon Beom (11) Kim Sun Woo (6, c) ... Shin Il Soo (14) Song Ju Han (2) ... Song Ju Hoon (20)... Park Jeong Su (4) ... Kang Yoon Gu (12) Gu Sung Yoon(21)
[U-21] We lost 3-0 to Brazil Not that I really expected us to beat Brazil, but Lee Gwang-jong really has a terrible record against South Americans. Not something good for an Olympic coach that will be playing in South America itself. Next and final match is against (same position as us 1D 1W) Australia.
Looking forward to it. I got the chance to watch some of the Australia- Brazil match. Was positive seeing we got a result against them (2-2), though the next game we were terrible against China.
