We approach our 1st home game without the injured Barkley and on the back of a very disappointing 1st weekend result at LCFC. Coleman is fully fit now so he will come in for Stones & I expect Stay Puft (McGeady) to make way for Mirallas who was badly missed last week. Howard, Coleman, Jag, Distin, Baines, Mirallas, McCarthy, Barry, Pienaar, Naismith, Lukaku. I think Arsenal will be too strong for us this game and win 2-1

That was the equivalent of hiring a Ferrari for a day, letting the Stig drive it for the 1st half then letting your nan take over and watching the inevitable car crash. 2-0 up with Arsenal on their knees begging, so what do we do? Let them come slowly but surely into the game, watch both centre mids run themselves into the ground and don't replace either with the 4th choice midfielder who is supposed to have high energy (then complain after we ran out of steam, no shit Sherlock!). Coleman goal aside had a mare of a game defensively, at fault for the 1st by letting Cazorla get the BBQ out before delivering a pass in which if Baines was awake instead of falling asleep listening to the latest Miles Kane album (let's face it, we all do!) he should have cut out.
Then Jags decided he didn't get enough shit during the world cup and failed to clear a cross leaving Distin to take the flak for not realising Jag was about to ******** up. 2/2 games his sub's have been poor selections, we picked yet another injury up, this time to Schillo, the team looks seriously undercooked in terms of fitness and please please play your 28m striker upfront! 1mistake by Chambers doesn't make the tactic right as he did F**k all else all game. Good job we have an easy game next week with their new goalscorer having failed to score yet..oh wait..sh*t!

I kinda felt the same way. I got to see this match on tv and was pretty excited in the beginning. Everton was playing well making cool plays and got a decent lead. Lukaku was a lot of fun to watch too. I can see why everyone wanted him to sign. :) And Arsenal was on the ropes (I thought).

Then we went to sleep. What happened? Does Everton have that killer instinct?

Lack of fitness! We were dead on our feet after 60-70min. The the manager chose the wrong sub's to bring on, new signing Besic was the obvious move. Not a great start to season with title favs Chelsea up next

I know this is really late, but I just found out about this site after talking with some friends in the Dallas Everton Supporters' Group on Facebook. From what I saw in the match, we were dominant for the first 60 to 70 minutes, like you all said, but I thought we coasted in the end. Maybe fitness was a factor, but it seems to me that we have a pretty young squad for the most part and that shouldn't be an issue in arguably the best professional soccer league in the world. That said, I feel that Coleman should be playing right midfield, not right back, and that he made several defensive errors that either resulted in goals for Arsenal or easily could have. Also, Stones seemed like a better selection than Distin at center back, given Distin's age and the insanely fast pace of the Premier League.

Distin is still 1 of the fittest & fastest at the club. Thought Jag was struggling more

Fair enough, I just find it hard to believe that he can continue to play at a high enough level for much longer. Most center backs, and almost all other outfield players for that matter are just about done by the time they get to be his age. Goalkeepers are really the only ones that can consistently play at a top level into their mid and late 30s.

I agree, normally you would be right but what you fail to understand is Distin is actually a T-1000 Terminator sent by Skynet to rid all the evil opposition strikers
