I decided to join the Manchester United forum. I was waiting for a gesture from @Horsehead but there was nothing but lies about some socks or something that she was going to bargain with next Monday. I figure the Manchester United forum is looking to grow and it's an interesting project in my career. They also offer a big ugly shirt with a yellow emblem and an ugly milife crisis ride to sweeten the deal. I'm still talking to the @Zidane05 and his mastermind manager @Alma Merengue though, so there's still hope i might remain a Madrid forum mod.
I don't think it's fair to say they don't have any leverage. In American Football it's far more uncommon for an above average player of the same quality of Di Maria's say - Jamaal Charles- to NOT get paid. 9 times out of 10 if a good player holds out, or threatens to, he will get a restructured contract that's to his liking. If he doesn't, said player will most likely get cut resulting in teams flooding offers for his services. However, cutting players can result in hefty penalties so it's not a free for all where you just run around trimming the fat as you please; you essentially have to work with the cap even if that means keeping an under preforming player under contract.
I didn't want to get THIS much into the weeds, but most guaranteed money in the NFL comes via signing bonuses so the cash for that is paid up front, it's just distributed over the life of the contract for accounting purposes. Usually the first few years are guaranteed as well on an annual basis, but when you get into the back half of the contract, there is usually not anymore guaranteed money due. Now if a player had a signing bonus, that money will still count on the cap even if they cut the player, but they aren't actually paying him at that time. The money is gone and sunk, it's just on the books for accounting purposes.
De Sciglio is too injury prone, as a matter of fact isn't he rehabbing one right now? Pass. He barely featured in Serie A and even managed hurt himself during the WC to come back for preseason and hurt himself which is where he is now.
Don't mind Arbs leaving if we get a suitable backup. Its just crazy that it 3 days of the market leftand all of these bombshells are dropping now.
I would tend to agree with you, but early in the training sessions reporters were saying how in-shape Marcelo looked compared to previous summers. I wonder if he got the "your transferable" message and took a different approach to the summer. I think @mymy33 was spot on about the Xabi Alonso thing happening too quickly/smoothly to be a last second thing. Leads me to think that he too was given the "bring a suitor and we'll talk" speech as well. Same with Casillas' people trying to get him released from his contract - albeit at a ridiculous price. I don't know... maybe I'm trying to connect pieces here because I'm a little lost on what's happening right now. I don't think this as random as it seems though. The timing sucks because it's so late in the window, but I'm not ready to panic. Interesting for sure.
Probably wasn't last second but I doubt this has been on the cards for a while when he was advertising the new kit
Exactly. One minute he is advertising dragon shirts the next he is getting out of a van in Germany to sign for the bavarians.
I think he was thinking of leaving and working on it. I don't know how much in the loop we were on that.
Any ********ing rumours on who the ******** we are actually signing wtf! At this stage it seems no one....
Fair enough. But if the club is telling him they will let him go for the right opportunity, my guess is the conversations have been happening for a while. His father spoke today about "new challenges" and how Guardiola has always been a big fan of his son's style. I'm guessing his agent had conversations on more than one front (as he should). Yup.
