Seriously, this team is full of freaking dirty players. What a shame. No wonder they get so many red cards. That coach cannot keep his team discipline enough. They are digging themselves out of winning the campeonato and now they will be out of Sudamericana. Way to make Ecuador look bad.

Can't believe Narvaez made himself look stupid today. I'd expect this from Lastra or another mediocre player, but not Narvaez. Smh....when will these kids learn? The first goal was his fault and that red card. Dear God. Why f*ck up now when you were doing good? lol this only gives Rueda more of a reason to call up a Checa, Guagua, Bone, and company.

Why does Pablo Zeballos act like such a girl on twitter? All season long he complained that he didn't get playing time in Emelec and would whine on twitter lol then he left Emelec. And he still tries to diss Emelec indirectly on twitter hahaha What a child.

he's fighting w/ all those Emelexistas on twitter you guys should check it out. It's quite entertaining. https://twitter.com/pzeballos10

This one was quote of the year by Pablo Zeballos LMAO

Congratulations emelexistas! that was a well earned title. I think Emelec finally deserved it after fighting at the top of the table and participating in international tournaments for the last 4 years. It was about time. Good job guys and enjoy your title.

Hell of a year for Emelec and its fans. I think the big move is going to come this year....we'll see them make some noise in international tournaments even with the exit of Enner.

For now, savor the glory. This club has done it the right way.

Huge Libertadores game for Emelec tonight in Rio de Janeiro. Flamengo will try to bounce back after losing to Leon in Mexico. Seems like Achillier will be playing right back which is nothing new to him. Guagua as a CB is always suspect but hopefully they both impress Rueda. Achillier is probably gonna be our starting CB next to Erazo who will most likely be a bench warmer tonight.

Wow that Emelec defense was rapped. Guagua as most of us know sucks! Bagui is wack too. Can't believe they are going to the WC!

I heard John Narvaez got red carded in the game this Sunday vs. Mushuc. Anybody know what happened? I heard Quintero make some statements about it saying he's gotta try and help Narvaez mature and stop making those type of mistakes. It worries me that Narvaez has recently turned 23 now and still hasn't fully consolidated himself in a club team. He's had his moments of great consistency in Emelec, but it's either injuries or expulsions that get him out of the picture....not so much his performance levels. This tells me the kid has talent and even has the potential to be consistent, but has problem w/ keeping that momentum going for more than just 4-5 months. Expulsions and injuries (somewhat) are things that he can prevent by being a more professional player. I've seen this problem occur with him last season too, where he had a few reds or dangerous plays where he risks wayyy too much and is always kissing the border line for a red. The injuries can sometimes be prevented by taking care of yourself outside of the field and giving your body the proper treatment. Other times an injury can be inevitable b/c there's certain circumstances in a game where things happen. But it worries me that we can possibly lose someone with great potential b/c of things that are preventable. It's not his talent that we are waiting to see....we've seen it. It's certain things he needs to stop doing to take him to the next level....meaning the NT. That's why I said the other day, there's certain moments in a game where i applaud Narvaez and others where I say "no wonder Rueda didn't call him up". Although there's talented center backs in the country, it's situations like these which make it difficult for a coach to give these players on a chance on the NT. Another guy with disciplinary problems is Andres Mendoza from what I hear. At that point it becomes very difficult for us to say "Why is play X on the roster for these next few games"....And the answer is situations like these ^.

    http://www.ecuagol.com/ecuagol/index.php?n=55615

This is another reason why I think Quinteros isn't cut for the NT and shouldn't be a main candidate. The only player he actually successfully managed to help fully develop was Enner Valencia (and it wasn't even all him....Rueda should be given the most credit for consolidating Enner. Quinteros only continued what Rueda started w/ him), he half way helped Marlon get his momentum going (but Marlon didn't leave as a fully developed player....reason why we still see him struggling to start in Mexico), Marcos Caicedo nunca exploto al 100% con Quinteros, neither has Gaibor, neither has Narvaez. Every player has had different reasons- Gaibor would be fully consolidated right now if it weren't for his injury early on this season...Rueda even said he was going to be on the roster for Brazil, had it not been for his injury. So maybe I shouldn't include him on the list, but either way todo estos jugadores no han podido explotar al 100% con Quinteros.

The players also are at fault, it's not Quinteros fault 100%, but Narvaez, for example, has been getting reds since last season and let's not forget Nasuti and Achilier last year. Especially in the Segunda Etapa. At one point it seemed like they got red carded on a weekly basis. It just makes me think Quinteros doesn't work on fixing these issues which in turn affects certain players. If only some of these players were under Zubeldia, I can gaurantee there would be a change of attitude. Jose Madrid's change of attitude and performance this season is the perfect example of how Zubeldia can transform a player. That man was the biggest pecho frio in Liga last season and made a 180 this year. Completely different attitude this season. I feel like Quinteros doesn't have the ability to do that and it's something these guys need (on top of them also being committed to improving themselves).

I missed Emelec's game because I was watching Liga vs. Catolica and San Lorenzo's match at the same time, but I saw the highlights right now and Miller is undoubtedly in his best moment right now. Week after week he's been performing like the best version of Miller Bolanos that I know. 1 goal and 1 assist today. Just like I'm a big fan of Arroyo, there's no doubt Miller IMO is the type of player that's a gem. It's a privilege to watch him play and he makes a huge difference on the field on a very consistent basis. This is Edison's replacement on the NT. I just hope he keeps his head right which is all that we can ask for b/c he has more than enough talent to succeed anywhere.

^ i hope he keeps that mentality and doesn't get distracted. This has to finally be his best year....in other words, his most consistent one b/c he's always shown his quality.

I caught part of the match, thing is he's had quite a few games like this.
All he has to do is play this level in Sudamericana and I'll bet you Vizuete calls him up.

Miller Bolanos as a false 9 yesterday was insane. I never in my life thought he would be able to pull that off. And he got best player of the game....AGAIN. I think it's more surprising to notice when Miller doesn't get MVP of a game. They were praising the hell out of him on Fox.

8 goals in the last 7 games he's played in the Segunda Etapa. Liga needs to start putting a price tag on him and I'm gonna dare to say that $5 million is cheap right now. Liga can bank out like hell from this sale. These last 2 months he's even stood out playing as a false 9....a position I didn't even think he would be able to effectively play, yet he's made that possible and scored even more. Enganche, false 9, attacking left and right mid....this kid can do it all. And most of all his head is in the right place- focused on his career. If only he had done this earlier when he was in Liga, he would've been playing in a top league right now where he deserves to be. I'm glad he was once able to be part of Liga. People have even forgotten how well Angel Mena has been doing this season. Miller is a crack.

Wow. Emelec's defense is freaking horrible. Now I know why Vizuete never called any of them. Miller is not doing so great either. Stupid way to get a yellow card by him.

I thought Emelec was going to tie this one... After being down 3-0, then they came back and it was 3-2, I thought they'd tie 3-3 but it ended 4-2.... So do the 2 goals de visitante count for something for the game de vuelta? say Emelec wins at home 1-0 or 2-1 does Emelec advance ?

Rogerio Ceni was having his day. Or else this game would've been a tie or I dare to say a win from Emelec. Miller played well. The number of dangerous assists this kid puts into the box is incredible. He scored 1 out of 3 possibilities he had. That one chance he had in the last 10 minutes of the game was a sick ass save from Ceni. Tough luck for Miller on that one. Besides that I'd say Achilier and Jose Luis Quinonez had their faults as usual, but their not extremely horrible either. Bagui had a decent performance I think, but Narvaez....what a game from this kid this. I think NOW he is in top form to play on the NT. This month Narvaez has done really well in campeonato and Sudamericana. I hope he keeps this form and continues to develop it without committing stupid mistakes on the field. Narvaez was by far the best in defense last night when attacking and defending. Very very solid and I'd say one of the best from last night.

Overall, Emelec had a really great game away in Sao Paulo against one of the candidates to win this tournament. Had they not let last goal go in, or if Miller had scored the 1 on 1 chance that Ceni miraculously blocked, this story would have been completely different. Emelec would've almost had this in the bag. Right now a 2-0 or 3-1 win in Guayaquil is the goal. A 1-0 or 2-1 isn't enough to qualify. Emelec has to win by a 2 goal margin that isn't a 4-2, b/c if it's a 4-2 then they'd go to penalties. Good luck to you guys! This is the best Emelec of the last few years undoubtedly. This is the futbol that I thought you guys always had the potential to play. If Emelec beats Sao Paulo, I dare to say that they will be finalists. But I'll also be completely honest and say that River is going to win the entire tournament. Best of luck guys!

Good 28 minutes of Emelec and nice goal by Miller. Too bad that defense is bad except for Narvaez. He is playing really well. It be a miracle if Emelec wins now after that goal by Sao Paulo.

EDIT: How in the world do you outrun the player and give him such an easy goal. I don't get it. Everyone knows a player will stop and turn, and still, the Emelec's defender outruns the player without thinking. So stupid.

OMG.... I can't believe so unlucky. Emelec had a fantastic game overall. So sad they couldn't win it. If it wasn't for that defense Emelec would've of advanced to the next round.

Damn. This was one of the best performances I've seen of Emelec in a Copa Sudamericana. They got mad talent and lots of heart. Narvaez, Miller, and Mena are on another level of futbol. In their best moments. I am extremely surprised how Narvaez has progressed this past month or so. There has been a HUGE change in this kid. Just 2-3 months back he was getting injured and getting red & yellow cards up the ass for making dumb mistakes and now it's like he flushed it all out of his system. He has been a freakin beast in defense, especially in these 2 games vs. Sao Paulo. Seriously, I am amazed with Narvaez. Very solid defending from him and if he keeps it up and finishes the campeonato like this, I think it's time to call up him up the NT and I'd even say it's time for him to start a game or two to see if he can make the transition effectively.

Mena definitely in the best season of his career. If only he had blown up like this earlier in his career he would've developed into a much better player. But he still has a good 3 years or so to play at top level IMO so hopefully a Mexican or Argentine team take him. I think he'd be successful almost anywhere in the America's and he deserves it.

And Miller.....a f*cking beast. In the best moment of his career and he's still only 24. Comes to show what staying clean and dedicating himself to his profession has done for him. It makes me proud to see Miller playing like this. Not one minute did this kid give up in any game he has played in the Copa Sudamericana and always put in the best of him to somehow score for Emelec even though he's not a striker. He played in an improvised position as a false 9, as an enganche, and sometimes a bit wide, but every single time he performed at top level and was easily Emelec's best player in a good 90% of their games. In the campeonato, his numbers speak for themselves. He's Emelec's best player and IMO he's the best player of the entire campeonato. If he isn't awarded that by the end of the season I will be in shock. This kid has done everything possible to win that recognition and I will say it now just like I've said it plenty of times before.....Miller es jugador de seleccion. This is a top notch player that's a crack. We've always seen it and always known it from the time he was in Liga (w/ his lack of discipline and everything), but now we are seeing his talent at it's true potential. And this is just the beginning....Miller has not reached his ceiling either. His potential is VERY high. And I can say that without a doubt he is better than Juan Cazares and Michael Arroyo. If Vizuete can control his temper and Miller can use that energy and translate it into leadership which I know he has the potential to do, he will be the enganche #10 for the NT for the next few years and leave his mark on the NT. Edison Mendez's replacement lives within this kid.

Narvaez had a monster game for sure. The best defender by far from Emelec. His transition from attacking to defending was on point tonight. Not just on the RB position but there were lots of times he played CB and played much better than the other CB from Emelec. Miller, Narvaez, and Mena definitely should NOT be in Ecuador next season! Sell them ASAP! Its a perfect time for them to play outside in good clubs. It will be a huge drop of talent for Emelec but I'm sure they will get a fat stack of money from the sales. They also produce very good players from their schools so I think they will be okay if they lose all three players next season.

I think there was at one point a few years ago where Edison Mendez said "Miller va a llegar a ser el mejor en su puesto en el pais". and it looks like what he's saying is true. His racha is like Enner's in Pachuca last season.

Miller just doesn't stop scoring and Narvaez seems like he continues to have great performances. I missed this game but I heard Miller got injured and will be out for 8 days or so. Hopefully that doesn't slow him down b/c this kid is literally un-freakin-stoppable. He scores at least a goal every game sometimes more. And he's done it in campeonato and copa (up til the point emelec got eliminated). No hay como negarle seleccion a Miller. No way in hell! IMO he's a jugador FIJO en the NT and if he gets his opportunity to start I know he'll lock that position for good. Hopefully he stays healthy til the next call up and I have no doubts him and Jeff Montero will have secured their starting spots. The other opening would be between Plata, Ibarra, and Penilla.

Can you guys imagine how lethal we would be with Miller playing like this on the NT? And with Enner in front of him? Yoya as a sub hopefully bringing his great form over to the NT? Our striking options right now are incredibly good. Not to mention Anangono, Penilla, and Plata are great options as well and they'll all basically back ups. Our striking force at the moment seems more complete than ever.

And in the last few weeks it seems like Fernando Gaibor is BACK at 100% which is good news. He's scoring and performing well. This will be very important for the NT.

I am watching Radio Sport on Ecuavisa and I had no idea Emelec is actually the one that has ownership over Miller Bolanos. I am so confused. The guys on there just said "Antes del partido contra Sao Paulo, Emelec rechazo una oferta de 4 millones de dolares para el pase de Miller Bolanos por que tienen planes de venderlo en una cifra mucho mas alto". And I have a feeling that team might have been Sao Paulo. And they always went along to say "De una fuente muy confiable y creible les puedo decir que el America de mexico es el mayor interesado en la contratacion de Miller Bolanos para el siguente torneo y piensan ofrecer una cifra muchisimo mas alto de los 4 millones que rechazo"
