http://www.miamiherald.com/2014/05/13/4115439/will-soccer-stadium-threaten-existing.html Why doesn't this story come out in the news why can't the news do a story on this?
Saw this on Reddit. How do you guys feel about Bill Peterson and NASL attempting to steal the thunder from Beckham? Tried, but couldn't type that with a straight face, lol. Article is in Spanish btw. http://deportetotalusa.net/audio-na...-hay-conversaciones-con-empresarios-en-miami/
If there is one group that basically will have no effect on things, its Peterson, NASL and Traffic. They've had the run of Miami/Ft Lauderdale for 10 years now and have done little but stake a claim at Lockhart.
Im really puzzled as to why the need another Florida team? Along with starting up a Canadian league is NASL looking to start up a Florida league as well? Just makes absolutely no sense.
That's not the league's fault as much as it is the fault of the specific ownership group in OKC... OKC NASL is an example of what happens when a sports management group actively recruits ownership to buy a PDL club in anticipation of buying into USL Pro (offering the prepay the expansion fee) and then "settling" for an NASL expansion franchise on the rebound.
Why they have to take a shot at us? Why does everybody have to hate on Miami? What the hell!!?? Isn't Preki an original Miami Fusion FC player? Who needs another California based team anyway? Give other states a chance!!! http://m.soccerly.com/article/soccerly/preki-were-ready-to-take-beckhams-place
Paid for stadium, one of the most iconic sports figures in the world who will bring tens of millions more, a state in desperate need of construction jobs.........and very little, buzz, excitement or real political support from the looks of it. You tell me why.
This isn't MLS of 10 years ago, not even four or five. It's possible that MLS/Garber wanted to see more support from city officials and fans in general. Upon seeing the reaction they just may feel Miami isn't up to snuff, or not worth pandering to with the deal put forward. Sacramento has exuberant fans, has politicians, and now money backing it. We saw the same thing in Orlando. Orlando made it clear, and Sac is making it clear they are excited and want MLS. They are embracing it and making it part of their community. Even NYFC had a big politician on it's side initially (Mayor BBerg) the NY Yankees, and boatloads of money. Atlanta had an owner we all underestimated with regards to his research, commitment and what he knew about the game, and fan support almost 3 years out has been great. Minny is showing real growth at NASL levels and two different groups of billionaires are interested. In Miami we have unsupportive politicians, lukewarm fan support, no buzz, tons of pushback and questions, a not so great rep of supporting soccer or sports teams in general... ....for a paid for stadium, a world icon who can bring in tens of millions more, in a state desperate for construction jobs Maybe MLS wants to see just a bit more from them in general. Maybe it's not worth it without real backing and commitment from the other side. Just a thought.
Should the deal fall through, Miami do seem to have much to lose, rather than Becks, who may just move on to another city, which will likely welcome him with open arms, to exercise his option...
Sacramento Republic FC seems like a no brainer to me. They were drawing 20K fans a game when they were playing at a high school stadium. If any city deserves to make the jump up to MLS,It's Sacramento. http://www.lagalaxy.com/sites/losangeles/files/imagecache/620x350/image_nodes/2014/05/14 SFRC VS LAGII 09 copy.jpg http://i2.wp.com/sacramentopress.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/Republic-FC-30.jpg http://www.gravel2gavel.com/Cal Republic FC.jpg http://cdn2-b.examiner.com/sites/de...67d6069ffa13b4c1669346346db.jpg?itok=QsyqaqeX http://i1.wp.com/sacramentopress.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/Hughes.jpg?resize=618,300
Yup. Sacramento already has a very nice downtown location in the railyards, political support, and a very powerful ownership group. If all the final funding and club acquisition details (Kings need to buy Sacramento Republic) are finalized by next month when MLS comes into town, it's a wrap. They will be the 23rd team.
Nah, if they have all their ducks in a row and the MLS Board of Governors approves, they'll be announced this year. They'll want another Orlando City situation where they can use their last year in USL Pro to get their fanbase energized, boost ticket sales, evaluate current players who could maybe make the jump to MLS, and secure corporate sponsorships. This strategy of staying in the lower division for one more season before making the jump has also worked really well for us (Seattle), Portland, Vancouver, and Montreal.
Did you guys see the LAFC press conference? Great ownership group in place, the inly Hungría infundada discouraging regarding Miami MLS Washington that he talked about future expansion and didn't even mention Miami at all. Watch the press conference on mlssoccer.com and let me know what you think. They were pretty fast with this expansion, i feel like if this thunder was for Miami MLS but since we are slow, MLS went ahead with LAFC. Thoughts?!?!?
Lmao... My bad I was on my sister in laws iPad her keyboard is in Spanish it autocorrected most of it....
Lets try this again.... Did you guys see the LAFC press conference? Great ownership group in place, the only thing that I saw discouraging was that when he mentioned other MLS expansion markets, he didn't even mention Miami MLS. Watch the press conference on mlssoccer.com and let me know what you think. It in the first 5-8 minutes. They were pretty fast with this expansion, i feel like this press conference was for Miami MLS but since we are slow, MLS went ahead with LAFC. Thoughts?!?!?
They needed to replace Chivas and didn't want to lose the 2nd team slot in LA, thats pretty much it. I doubt there is much else to read into that.
http://www.si.com/planet-futbol/201...ern-legion-supporters-expansion-david-beckham Have u guys seen the video, with Don Garber in this article? He actually says we wont get a team if we dont get a stadium? Well how the hell is NYCFC have a team? Arent they less likely to find a stadium location than we are?
MLS can set different targets for every city if they want. They call the shots. Why would it be any other way?
Damn, San Francisco Republic is looking stronger than ever, now that the 49ers want to invest in the team for MLS: http://www.espnfc.com/major-league-...-to-invest-in-mls-hopeful-sacramento-republic How does this look on us though? You guys think if we don't get investors backing our team, we'd be weaker than the others? I mean I heard that rumour that Cruise, jay-z and Will smith maybe interested in our expansion team but what would be a better backing? Franchises or big actors?
