I spoke to a friend who used to play college at big Division 1 program and he said to remind your brother of the issues with playing at altitude I am sure he is already aware of that but I did not think to mention that earlier. Not like we have many mountains at home
He'll love it. I have quite a few mates who live in Denver or the surrounding suburbs. It's a beautiful area and the downtown area is great.
Hello finest of men. I'm coming to the USA in November. Can someone recommend a place/area to stay in Dallas (I have a preconception that there will be more to do than in Fort Worth)? Somewhere thatll be pretty lively in the evening and easy to get out to AT&T for the Cowboys game (on public transport if possible). You are all stars.
Just spent two weeks in the DFW area for work over the last two months. Stayed in Addison and Farmers Branch. The area I stayed in had a load of restaurants and good ones too. Nice little pub to catch a match on the corner of Beltway and Midway Rd called the Londoner. I was a 20 minute non freeway drive from downtown Dallas. Nice neighborhood too. Addison is a nice part of the metro area. Just a heads up too, but there are a ton of toll roads there.
Great actor all around outside of his comic roles. One Hour Photo, The Birdcage, and Moscow on the Hudson. One Hour Photo puts Williams in a light you can't imagine him in but he's brilliant at it.
not sure if you booked. lived in Dallas for 6 years, mostly in the addison area actually. the londoner is a frequent meetup for the north texas blues. great bar. however, it's outside of the 635 loop, meaning it's outside of Dallas proper. outside of the londoner, i wouldn't really recommend addison. there ARE a lot of other places to eat and be merry, i just wouldn't say they are the best dallas has to offer. lower greenville is a good area, as well as knox -henderson streets. uptown gets crazy at night, wouldn't really recommend it after about 9 pm just because it gets a little too much, not dangerous, just really busy and filled with a very young and loud crowd. shoot me a pm when you decide where to stay and i'll let you know all the good places that are close. deep ellum is a good place to go out, its the seedy historical up and coming type place that every city has. i love it though. i don't really think there is anywhere to stay there, nor would you really want to. downtown is dead. as for the game, there is no public transportation linking the stadium. yea. let that sink in. it's awful. and it's a pretty long ride for a cab as well. not sure if there is a bus available or not. quick list of good bars Londoner - Addison Londoner - State and Allen (same people, more fun location for downtown area) Old Monk - Henderson Trinity Hall - Mockingbird Station Anvil Pub - Deep Ellum Dubliner - Lower Greenville The Ginger Man (tap house) - Uptown Flying Saucer - Addison (must do if in Addison) Capitol Pub - Henderson if you need anything else, or like i said, get a location and want restaurants that are close by as well, just let me know.
ok thats all awesome, really appreciated. i've been out of the country so my mate has booked us accommodation for dallas, so ill find the name and let you know. i'll also be dropping in on new orleans and baltimore as part of the trip, looking forward to it.
Lol, it's been slow at work for me. I just realized that 9-10 years ago I used to come to this forum for info. Man, times have changed. It's quite awesome that I'm able to watch footy on my phone now. Lifesaver as I don't live the journo life anymore.
It always has been. Funny enough, a lot of the music, movies, TV shows, and such I discovered was through here. Especially the music, thanks to Prawn Sandwich. He knew his stuff.
