Legend.— Alecko Eskandarian (@alecko11) August 7, 2014 You are a legend @landondonovan. My voice is still raspy from your goal v Algeria #ThanksLD— Heather O'Reilly (@HeatherOReilly) August 7, 2014 #ThanksLD for inspiring a generation of young American soccer players, myself included. It was a pleasure playing with you @landondonovan— Sacha Kljestan (@SachaKljestan) August 7, 2014
Anything I would say at this point would be totally inadequate. So I'll just contribute my inadequate feelings - sad, but not surprised.
One of the most enduring and special moments as a Galaxy fan was Bruce subbing off Beckham in the 89th minute of MLS Cup 2012 so the stadium could give him a standing ovation. I want that again so badly, I know getting to a final and being in a position to have a selfish substation is insanely rare, but it’s the only correct way for Landon to go out.
I will miss Landon. I remember being at the Coliseum and seeing his goal and assist in his first cap in his first 2-0 vs. Mexico. He's a great player and I really was looking forward to seeing him transition into the more cerebral thinking slower midfield player in his final years. Cup winner 2011:
I feel like someone punched me in he gut. I was expecting a big signing and instead this is what we get? There won't be another like him. I'm extremely sad but happy to have witnessed his legend. A role model, a hero, a myth and a LegenD.
I hate that I'm at work. I'm a grown woman tearing up. Can't wait to change my profile photo. So much that I want to say... LegenD
I literally had the following post queued up and about ready to go when your post popped up: "Anyone else a little worried about the absence of Berks from this forum today? She must be in total shock and unable to post."
I actually stumbled across this vid when the cut was announced, but didn't post it then. You will weep.
At the presser, the Stub Hub Logo is coming unglued, falling off the podium...an omen? ETA: The ad I got on the presser page is for Full Sail University offering a Sports Marketing & Media degree
LD says he made the decision before Seattle the game and his play has reflected that. I can’t disagree.
Hey Galaxy AV team, maybe have the mic levels at the podium louder than the ********ing mic next to the camera. Christ on bike.
When does everyone think JK will tweet about LD's successful career? A. Never B. After a successful surgery to remove the stick up his a$$ C. When he finally grows up D. When he feels shamed into doing it I'm going with D.
One of the first twitter sites I checked. Disgusting that he is silent. I'd like to remind him that his ONLY trophy was as a result of LD. So my choice? D
But, but, LD couldn't hack it in Europe... In 2009-2010 EPL season, LD was 2nd in league in big chances created/90 behind only Tevez. Dude was giving his strikers lay-ups. #ThanksLD— Matthew Doyle (@MattDoyle76) August 7, 2014
