The rumor about Gustavo is that we have a plan B for Illarramendi to get minutes elsewhere. Could be to bring him back with more confidence... could be to set him up to make a different decision next summer.
What exactly fills you with this notion ? As far as I remember he played only once as a striker ( before Ramos got red carded and he was substituted within the first 10 mins iirc )
He is a very good finisher, showed that he is capable of stepping up and finishing his chances against Levante, Osasuna and Bibao IIRC Signing Falcao or another one would be overkill if it isn't already
Is Casillas cup-tied if he plays in the European SuperCup? If so (and now with the signing of Keylor Navas), I wouldn't be surprised if he mysteriously comes up with an "injury" prior to this game and doesn't play. I'm assuming if he does indeed want to leave it would be to play with a club in the CL.
I believe that the European SuperCup is an exception to the cup-tied rule. I'm pretty sure that's the case, maybe someone can correct me if its not.
Yes, the UEFA Super Cup is an exception to the cup-tie rules. You can play that match and still be eligible to play in European competitions for other teams.
Which still does not the answer that he never played as a striker but primarily as a winger . There a lot of players who are good finishers - Cr7 , Bale , Robben , Ribery but not one of them would be half as good as a striker . It is another thing that Jese used to play as a second striker in Castilla , but I believe if he regains form and fitness he would be the perfect replacement for Cr7 . Signing Falcao will not be an overkill in any way , he would address one of the key issues ( Benzema's long droughts) that has bogged us many times in the past and at times proving to be decisive .
IIRC Jese played in that role or in a similar role at Castilla, maybe someone who follows RM Castilla can enlighten us With Falcao we would be having 8 attacking players for 3/4 positions and make our salary wages a lot bigger. Money does not grow on trees
It doesn't; it grows in JAS' office. Official: Jesus Fernandez is off to Levante More and more and more noise about Casillas playing in the European SuperCup as his final match for the club.
Woah, when did this happen? Getting rid of Diego Lopez only to then allow Iker to leave or what's the deal?
El Partido ante el United varia planteamientos. Salida de Iker más factible. Diego ve de nuevo una luz. No le convence la oferta de Mónaco.— José Luis Sánchez 🇪🇸 (@JLSanchez78) August 4, 2014 Diego Lopez ''should'' leave, but that will not be easy. Much to negotiate. Iker's exit looks feasible.
There has been talk about Casillas' people negotiating his exit for a while now. The Diego Lopez stuff is believed to be from the press (pockets of which absolutely love Casillas). Lopez' agent has denied that he was ever given the '72 hours to find a team' ultimatum (are we at the 72 hour mark yet?). The biggest challenge with Casillas continues to be the 'finiquito' he wants: 3/4 of the salary owed to him and a release from his contract. But the comments from more reliable sources are on the same page in terms of saying that the desired outcome from all sides is that Diego Lopez stays. It'll be interesting to follow how this plays out, that's for sure.
You prolly got the translation by now but just in case you didn't basically says: traumatic surprise departures expected soon.
If Iker does leave what are realistic destinations for him? It looks like the Arsenal door is closed after they signed Ospina. Only CL club I can think of that's in the market for a GK is Napoli, but I don't know what Casillas' relationship is like with Benitez and then there's the whole wages thing. Other than that, there's still Monaco I suppose.
DIEGO LOPEZ ON THE MOVE? Well, he appeared to be, but Le 10 Sport claims the Real Madrid goalkeeper - first choice in La Liga last season - is NOT heading to Monaco. The Ligue 1 club reportedly have no plans to make a move for the 32-year-old Spaniard.
Can't be true, there's no market for Iker. Everybody wants Diego as opposed to Iker. I think letting Casillas go instead of Diego would be better for us, as Diego has a much lower salary so leaving him on the bench burns less of our cash than doing so for Iker. Plus leaving him on the bench for Alves would cause less backlash than leaving a goalie on the bench who has been a big part in our achievements over the years.
I really can't believe most of you want Casillas out ... !? WTF is going on with the madridismo !? That's Iker Casillas - the legend, the institution! I could never choose any goalkeeper in front of Casillas, Iker will always be N1 for me.
I remember the times when Hugo Sanchez was number one for me, then Manolo Sanchis, then Redondo, then Raul. Legends fade with time and as much as we all hate it, I believe it's time for Iker to leave. Hopefully, he will leave on a high note with Supercopa in his hands.
