At least Higuain sent us to QF for the first time in 24 years and he was MOTM against Belgium. Palacio misschances against Holland and Germany both cannot be forgiven because its 1v1 from 3 yards. 3 fckin yards!

Actually Higuain's goal against Belgium sent us to the semi final. Still can't forgive him or Palacio for those misses in the final. Oh and Palacio, shave that ********ing stupid ponytail.

Sorry it was my mistyping :). Pipita also helped to setup Messi first goal. That throughball for Di Maria by him should have been another assist.

The biggest blunder Sabella's made in that final would be replacing Lavezzi and Higuain with Kun and Palacio. We dominated the German prior to that. Lavezzi replacement cost us the midfield battle while Higuain despite missing that first chance, he simply looks more dangerous than Palacio and looks like he's going to score soon or later (at least if Lavezzi never replaced).

I'm not against putting Kun if its in ET but the sub were both way too early and imagine what damage could have been done if we put those fresh legs in ET instead at 45 minutes.:ninja:. Loew easily trumped Sabella on that one. His super sub came in so late in the game and scored.

Well, if that's true I think he deserved one more chance. We have best defence in the tournament and finished runner up, I dont mind if he stays for a little while. CA should be his last chance. If we could fix our attack and midfield, we could easily win the next CA with the defence we showed at WC. Romero already proof himself in 2 major tournaments now. He conceided just twice in CA 2011 and 4 times in 7 matches during the WC.

I'd like to see this team at the Copa America:

    Romero
    Zabaleta-Musacchio-Garay-Rojo
    Mascherano-Kranevitter-Perez-DiMaria
    Messi-Icardi

We might hate Icardi's attitude but sometimes a hated guy like him could be the one that play without fear. I think the 4-4-2 fit us better, off course with Messi upfront. Perez already proof his worth as midfielder and with Di Maria bombing up and down all day, I wanna see Messi as the one who will do the damage not as goal creator.

Get Icardi in, he might be a dickwad but he should get a call up. If I see Palacio in the NT shirt again I will set fire to myself.

Wht do u guys think of playing 2 box-to-box midfielders since Mascherano wont be starting in 2018.

Seems like a good idea maybe

Virtually every manager at this world cup made substitutions that benefited their respective teams. We saw that from Germany in the final. Sabella made substitutions that benefited the opposition, just like Pekerhead did in 2006, when will we ever learn. 1990, 2006, 2010, 2014 all loses to Germany, half their world cups have been won against us. The last time we beat any of the big boys at a world cup was in Diego's time, West Germany, Brazil, Italy.

But in this 2014 final case, we could have win it regarldess the subtitution. Pipita missed glorious chance, his sub Palacio did the same, and our captain did the same. Pipita and Messi chances were both in first half before Sabella even made the sub.

No doubt Germany has been our nemesis, we only beat them once in WC they beat us 5 times and draw once. Its a bit similar to Italy and Germany's rivalry in which Germany failed to beat Italy once in 9 clash at tournament. Slightly less in our case one-sided but you get the point. Even when Germany had home adventage , they still shit brick against the Italian.

I still think we need to retain Sabella if he decided not to quit. Joachim Loew lost in 2 major tournaments before winning this one. We can learn from that. I'd like Sabella leading this tough nose defence team for next year Copa. In my opinion, we fail in that tournament, I dont think the guy will have the confidence to go all the way in 2018. It has been too long since we lifted a thropy. Since 1993 it has been a multiple QF failure, 2 Copa America final losses, Confederation final lost and finally a lost in World cup final. We're bcoming Holland of South America.

Really it's got to the stage that there is only any point in getting rid of Sabella if we are going to bring in one of the top manager's in the world, Pep, Ancelotti, even that bastard Moanio, Van Gaal, otherwise stick with him.

I get ur point but Low's teams always played well and hes the kind of coach who doesnt mind implementing youngsters with the veterans. Sabella did well but the performances were pretty bad and the players he called up alot of them are not NT material and dont deserve to be there. Andujar, Basanta, FF, Augusto, Maxi, Gago, Palacio

It just felt like he'd rather have veterans than more talented youngsters. Also, There was really no creativity other than Messi. It seemed like we were Messi's team instead of a team.

The problem was that Messi was expected to be both Xavi and Villa for the team, and that's impossible. We were let down by our strikers after initially all being convinced that our defence would let us down. You can't account for missing easy chances.

Thats true and i was reading somewhere that Messi was pissed at Sabella for not bringing him any help. His body language during huddles and how he ignores Sabella on the pitch are somewhat indications of that but u never know. Also, he did state that he felt bad that Banega was dropped from the final list.

I mean we can analyze all we want but in sure the players talk about this when they hang out and the points we bring up could also be brought up between them so if he was truly pissed then he had the right to be.

It's nearly a week on and I still feel an overwhelming feeling of sadness that we missed a golden opportunity to win the world cup. I guess we all have to move on but I doubt if that feeling will ever leave us.

I understand, but then think about the Dutch. We are somehow lucky to have 2 stars on our jerseys. Specially that with the overall level of teams rising, it's going to be more and more difficult to win a WC in the future.

I have come to terms with this by being satisfied that we have great history and are rightly considered as one of the top football teams. I don't want to make myself miserable anymore for something that is so difficult to attain as a WC. Life is too short not to enjoy it fully.

Actually, there's nothing wrong with Sabella team upfront, do you remember how many goals we have in qualifier? 35 goals mostly through Messi, Higuain, Di Maria and Aguero... add Maxi few goals in last few matches. Higuain even scored 4 goals in previous WC. Aguero scored 3 goals in 3 matches in Copa 2011.

If they're struggling to find the net during the WC (apart from Messi), how can you blame the coach? If Muller, Klose, Gotze banging goals in qualifier and they couldnt do it in WC, would they blame their manager? The sad truth is , all the guys who suppose to deliver during the tournament, they've been disapointing, and that's it.

Palacio is the only one who never deserve a call up in the first place. I think at one point Sabella wanted to bring Lamela but then he suffered major injury, while Icardi off the field antic and bad boy image made him being left behind.

We're 4th best team in the WC history. We're reached 5 finals now, only 1 less than Italy.
When England won their first and only WC and when Uruguay has won 2 WC, Argentina best achievement at the time was only a runner up finish. Now we have 2 WC and reached another 2 finals.

We can only drop to 5th if Uruguay win in 2018.

I know what you mean and I agree with what you say. It's just having made it to the final and then miss out due to dreadful finishing makes it hard to take. And the sadness is that we may never get another opportunity again or at the very least it could be another 30 years before we d again.
