A big thanks for the Germans here who did not gloat despite their crushing and well deserved triumph.

As for my fellow Brazilians on Bigsoccer, keep your chin up. Let this terrible lesson be the start of a new era. Keep in mind that Brazilian soccer began in that afternoon in 1950, when we lost to Uruguay at Maracanã. We fell indeed, but eight years later we started a journey that took us to winning the Jules Rimet and two more Fifa cups, in a total of unmatched 5 World Cup titles.

This may be rebirth, but it is by no means the end. Perhaps the harsh style of Felipão and Parreira needed indeed this painful death. But despite their ugly tactics with players such as Hulk replacing the likes of Lucas, Brasil still breeds the best players in the world and this is as indisputable as the resounding German victory today.

That is because losing here is not a National Disaster for the US, so they won't panic and break apart when losing

That you do, the talent on even a poor team, properly leveraged, is more than almost any other can muster in a "golden generation"

Tough loss for Brazil, no doubt. Brazil will regroup and recover. Happens to every big team now and then. Germany will be World Champion this time round.

    Forums are not reality
German players behave as real gentlemen after the game, sincerely feeling for their brazilian colleagues

I work with three Germans. They are lovely people who showed me only support and respect me after the game. There was a French guy laughing at me, though. I didn't say what I thought of him because I didn't want to lose my job.

...And since part of my family comes from Brandenburg, I have not other team left to support in this World Cup besides Germany.

Has anyone ever witnessed such a degrading loss by pro-level players? I can't. The Germans could almost select a new teammate for each goal - "ok, let's get him one now." Absolutely stunning at this level of competition.

Probably because in the German forum, we're among other German supporters, practically no one else, so we talk as much sh*t as we want, as no one is a Brazil fan there, no one gets offended, we're all excited (and probably drunk :p). I'd suppose the other National team forums are like that as well.

Gloating is part of being fans, we all do it. But since Germany have no traditional rivalry with Brazil and considering the scoreline it's simply not appropriate now.

There's also that little matter of the final. The strange thing about tonight is that we now MUST win the Cup as otherwise this semifinal will lose almost all meaning

An argentine show (Celebrities dancing, you know the stuff) is making fun of brazilians...showing the people crying, made me so angry and ashamed...miserable people
And also stupid....we can lose any moment and they won't like being done the same
I will have a drink right now, I am furious

It was heartbreaking to see the crying Dante being consoled by his Bayern teammates. The guy has the most amazing Cinderella story of only being 'discovered' at the age of 30 after years in the wilderness and then gets to play his first (and presumably last) World Cup match for Brazil only for it to end so badly for him

This thread has basically gone to hell in a hand basket. I have deleted several posts as well as handed out some infractions. If the trolling wasn't bad enough the off topic conversations of other games and teams has buried this thread.

^^OK so much for that.^^ I know the result looks bad but as I thought about it I think it really was tactical mistakes that made this one appear a lot worse than it should have been. If I am coaching Brazil or play for Brazil I would look to make a statement in the 3rd place match. It is likely the last match some will ever get in a yellow shirt. I would really like to get the perspective of a Brazil fan at this time but I know this might not be the right time.

The Brazilian people have every right to feel angry, maybe even insulted, by their very own soccer federation, who apparently couldn't manage to come up with a better squad for a World Cup on home turf - in a country of 200 million soccer fanatics.
I'm sure it's hard to see a bright side right now if you're Brazilian, but I'd look at this as an opportunity to completely rejuvenate the entire system, something is obviously wrong.
Maybe there's corruption, maybe some sort of buddy-buddy system promotes the wrong people, while the right ones get stuck somewhere along the lines.
For example, I don't recall Fred, Marcelo or Hulk adding anything constructive to this tournament, besides cool hair.
I could be wrong, but the only accurate kicks I remember Hulk delivering were directed at opposing players' legs.
Very hard to imagine these really were the best players a talent pool as deep as Brazil's had to offer.
There's another bright side: You don't have to play Argentina.
And you get to cheer against your arch-rivals in the final, just pretend the team you're cheering for is Flamengo, the jerseys are kinda similar......
