Anyone know if Dortmund is scouting DeAndre Yedlin? He might become a very good right-back with marketing potential as well because he's American.
I would have liked us to make a play for Thorgan Hazard. Good move by Gladbach. I read in the Daily Mail, which isnt saying much, that we are after Origi. Might just be the Mail trolling liverpool fans as they want him too. Although transfermarkt reports the same. There was someone on this forum who was saying that we should go for him too. Maybe sell PEA to free up cash and room? Also, in regard to the much maligned evonik deal, could this relatively small annual increase give us the ability to improve our wage structure and keep Reus for the long term?
Reus did not "carry" that 2012 Gladbach team the way Bale carried Spurs for two seasons. Bale was not only Tottenham's top offensive threat, he was the undisputed leader. The complete heart and soul of the team. At Gladbach, Reus was not the leader nor the complete heart and soul. Ter Stegen and Dante had more than a bit to do with how well that team did too. I was trying to stay out of this as I find the argument to be completely ridiculous. Some are clearly letting bias show and some are showing they don't know much about both situations. I don't care who cost what. Reus and Bale are both great players. They are great in different ways. I'm not interested in childlike fan bias and flat out ignorance. Again, both are great players. Both have world class qualities. Both would be great in the BVB lineup. Personally, I think Bale would do better in our setup, but that's neither here nor there. I am happy with Marco Reus and realize we have a great player in him too. For one more season anyhow........
Are we still on this topic? I thought it was a foregone conclusion that the hair on Reus's left a## cheek have more technical ability than that nearly 100 million pound overrated Brit who looks like he came from the Planet of the Apes.
You forgot Neustadter. I don't know how he's played for S04 but I'd hear his name alongside Ter Stegen, Reus and Dante.
Bale had one huge season, Reus was the best player in the BuLi with BMG and again last year. The english premium isn't a steady one, it goes up more the bigger a star you are buying and that's why bale cost so much, Barkley isn't even a really good player yet and everton are said to be laughing at bids under 50M. Bale cost as much as he did because he was the best player in teh epl for one season, which isn't easy, and was a uk passport holder. The face of the EPL costs crazy money, even if he's just bitten his third opponent ;-)
I'm a United fan who just wanted to say that having watched David Luiz's shambolic performance just now, I honestly believe it would be criminal for Dortmund to let Hummels go for anything less than 70m (if he ever leaves even since he seems to love your club very much). What a class player.
Whats the Hummels contract stuation like, I know he would be the focus of many clubs now since a lot of impostors have been exposed at this world cup
I believe he has one until 2017. However, I don't think he'll leave anytime soon. I mean, I've always admired him as a player, but as a professional he's unreal. How often do you see players say stuff like this in modern day football? "I've never judged my career in terms of titles. For me it's about something else: I love to play football, prefer the style of football that suits me best. I do not say, 'If I have never won the Champions League, I am not happy in life'" "I would prefer a Champions League title with BVB to winning six with another club." Most players care about getting the most money they can nowadays which is pretty understandable but you can't help but respect Hummels for saying stuff like this. As much as I'd love to have him at my club (as would any club), I hope he stays at Dortmund for a long time and gets to see his wishes come true. Loyalty in football players is really rare nowadays and it's a breath of fresh air to see a player like Hummels.
I also hope he stays in Dortmund, If he leaves for any reason I would want him at Bayern. I think we should have spent that Gotze wad on Hummels instead
Hummels is likely to be sold. It pisses me off. Manchester United are in advanced talks to sign Angel Di Maria and Mats Hummels as part of a stunning £75million double deal. (Metro) I swear if Hummels is sold we better get no less than 50 million euro. Also is Ginter a done deal for us? His arrival only makes the Hummels departure more imminent. IF that's the case I'd rather we cash in on him rather than losing him for nothing like Lewangolski. I can only hope we can lock up Reus and Gundogan long term.
I can guarantee you that if you had bought Hummels he'd be a fringe player in die Mannschaft if not Bayern and Gotze would be your chief playmaker at the world cup. And you'd be saying you wish you had triggered Gotze's release clause instead. I mean Julian Draxler was brought on ffs to get some playing time after Germany had scored a brazillion goals yesterday.
Likelihood of them leaving: Gundogan>Reus>Hummels. After seeing Gotze, Sahin and Kagawa, I am more concerned about keeping our coaching, scouting and medical staff top notch than the playing staff. To be honest with you I'd like players from countries which generally don't develop talent. You know why? Less international duty, more focus on club. Let Bayern deal with their exhausted players.
We've been linked to every player you can imagine this summer considering how shit our season has been. Out of all the players we've been linked with Hummels is the only one who I can comfortably say we have no chance at getting. I'd take everything the papers say with a pinch of salt since most of whats been reported is total bs. We've been crying so hard for quality in midfield for over 6 or 7 years and thats where the priority will be. I really don't think we'd be able to match the fee of Hummels since I doubt he'll go for anything less than 50m. I also don't believe he'll leave unless the club themselves push for any deal to happen which also seems like a long-shot.
I'd hate to see Hummels leave the BL....but if he does....I hope your FO isn't like Bayern and actually get what he's worth. I hate seeing the BL being treated as a bargain basement market.
Do you believe stories about fairies and Martians too? LOL!! Just because something gets written, it does not make it true. Mats Hummels isn't going anywhere. BVB has him under contract for three more seasons and will not sell. No matter what Man U. or anyone else offers. Hummels himself has stated he does not intend to go anywhere. Do you know how many stories have been written over the past two years about Hummels leaving? Literally hundreds. Even after he signed his extension, there were rumors about his being as good as gone to Barcelona. Yet, he's still here. Save yourself the aggravation. Stop believing obvious BS. There are knowledgeable people here you can ask first. The Ginter deal is more than likely going to happen. However Ginter isn't coming to replace anyone. Ginter will be part of a second CB duo with Sokratis. Ginter will also more than likely play some D-Mid. EDIT If I were you, I would prepare to lose both Reus and Gündogan. Gündogan for two reasons. One, because he only signed a one-season extension. If he somehow reaches his old form, he's gone for a huge payday. Two, if he doesn't reach his old form in the next two seasons, the club will probably cut him loose. I think we will eventually lose Reus because clubs with bigger names and bigger money than us will be willing to activate his release clause after the coming season. Reus does not seem to be willing to allow BVB to buy out the release clause and I honestly do not blame him. Part of me still hopes Reus will decide to be the star to take his hometown club back to the top of the football world. But the realist in me says he moves on to greener pastures (as in far more money) after the coming season. I hope I am very wrong on both players. But this is what I believe on them.
On the players, prepare yourself for disappointment. Klopp will not leave unless he is offered the Germany job.
Oh ye of little idea! LOL!! Dude, I am finally going to tell you this. I am surprised I need to tell someone who is such a Bayern fan as you are this obvious fact. Bayern doesn't sell for the biggest money because they don't have to. Bayern has enough money. Far more than clubs without gazillionaire owners. Bayern sells for purpose. In other words, they sell these guys to places they can get them to go to and where they have the least chance of coming back to bite Bayern in the ass. People will say, "Wait. Bullshit. Atletico was in the CL Final last season." Yes. And not a soul expects them to do it again. Atletico caught lightning in a bottle and most of the football world knows it. Mandzukic is now Real and Barca's problem. And he doesn't scare either of them........ This is also the main reason Gomez wound up in Florence. The stories that he wanted to go there are bullshit. They were just the best clubs of the ones Bayern would accept selling him to.....
