I'm sorry but this looks pretty darn conclusive to me. As in he dived conclusive Edit: I tried to upload an animated gif but not sure it worked. Here is a link to a slate article that has a bunch of video replays: http://www.slate.com/blogs/the_spot..._the_winger_makes_the_ultimate_world_cup.html
I'd rather he keeps Kuijt there. People here have been calling for Kuijt to be tried at LB for the last four years. Van Gaal had the balls to do it, and it's worked so far. At RB he put in a better shift than Janmaat or Verhaegh has. Against Costa Rica we need to go with a 4-3-3, with both Kuijt and Robben on the right side. I think they would torch them.
He didn't step on his toes because if he did then Robben couldn't have launched into the air like that.
The Mex strategy was to not let Van P or Robben get behind them--the Dutch strategy was to get the Mexicans to move up and then pounce on the counter The first half was awful but we slowly got better as it went along--then they get one early in the 2nd and decide to play 10 men back ---it actually took a long time to get our first one and we would have got another with or without Robben doing Swan lake The Mex were totally out of gas later--their passes even in their own end were listless and players were reacting to where the ball was going instead of making plays Going forward LvG has to know that we can play attacking football against these teams and win--no real need for this rope a dope crap----the 1st half will always be close but once they get gassed out---we have far too much talent for Mex or Costa Rico Argentina or Belgium will be a different strategy--- but for the next one---run them into the ground by keeping it wide and with all our talent put them away Robben was tremendous--I forgive him the dive--as I said we would have got another anyway-- -we will need a replacement for DeJong and I'd love to see Clasie
I'm not here to irritate anyone. But if you read through that forum, you'll notice that they don't even agree among themselves. One thing they're all pretty certain about is that the double challenge by Marquez/Moreno was a "clear penalty" and if I'm not mistaken, Robben admitted to taking a dive in that one. So much for that one. (To be fair, he might have said it to be the least bit controversial in the interviews). If anything, we've learned that the officials just can't keep up anymore.
Robben Launches into the air because he's trying to jump over Marquez like he did the previous Mexican defender who lunged in. But his right foot appears to catch on Marquez' leg while his left foot was being stepped on. Hard to stay on your feet when that happens. He could have done without the dramatic flailing though.
I will just say that it looks so bad for FIFA to put a UEFA ref in this match. Why would they do this? Very difficult to say this was fair. And now robs even the Dutch. Really hope we get a neutral confed ref for the costa rica match.
Why would a Portuguese referee be biased in any way in this match? Portugal is out of the tournament and hasn't played against either side.
Those guys are neutrals. Only 1 Mexico fan has said that was unfair for Mexico and its funny is he is here discussing with you guys. If you visit the Mexico forum you will get different perspective.
I'm just gonna say that as a Dutch fan who's seen my country lose over and over again.... I'm ready to dive all the way to a World Cup win. DGAF re what the rest of the world thinks, seriously. Result over anything. As if any diving will be worse than the criticism that the team received (especially *in* Holland) after what happened in the final four years ago? And guess what, the team showed up to a million of proud fans in Amsterdam. Also find it highly ironic of Mexico to complain about anything if you look at some of the behavior of Mexican players and fans in the past dozen years. That being said, Mexico's team played really well and I'm sad to see them out the tournament. Seriously.
I think everyone in this forum bar outsiders agree the PK was just and so does most sane people out there. Robben admitted to 1 dive in the 1st half which was not the double challenge or the one that got the PK. He said he is ashamed but don't why you are linking it to it. He had 3 Clear PK's
Clear as day as a PK. Don't know what you're smoking buddy. Looks honest. Whether he cries, dances, falls, slides is a different story. Marquez tripped him & also stamped 1/4th of his boots and clearly hindered him. Robben making most out of it is a different story. That does not make it any less of a Foul
I think the way Mexican coach reacted like complete retard with his comments just shows how sane people are. This guy the coach is making 1 after the other conspiracy theories and blaming FIFA and the whole world and finding 100 excuses to fail and things blasting others absolves him of the blame like his stupid subs. Mexican fans are towing that line. They can foul Robben thrice in the box but once when a PK will be given, the bi***ing starts
Please don't write Lies to justify BS. Robben clearly said that was a PK but he did dive 1ce in the 1st half which was not the double tackle on him. I have heaps of seen US fans in a forum and most of them are continuing their BS CONCAF. Anyways most US fans don't know a lot about football.
Right that's what I was referring to. U.S. fans know plenty about football. They don't know as much about soccer, though some of them are quite knowledgable there too. As for the "BS CONCAF" the federation (actually called CONCACAF) has as many quarterfinalists as UEFA
Marquez barely makes a move toward Robben. He appears to MAYBE brush his toes, which causes Robben to go airborn (and even adjust midflight, like he was hit by an imaginary bullet. Pretty impressive). No way that's a foul.
The freeze frames don't do it justice. You have to watch the play and you'll see that Robben takes off in a completely different trajectory from where Marquez might have (but didn't IMO) foul him.
