If I had to pick one of four 'powerhouses' of Brazil, Germany, Netherlands, or Argentina to face in a semi; it would have been Argentina. And while I was rooting for an Algeria rematch, I can't be too disappointed in the Belgium draw. They are very beatable.
Just finished watching their game. Yes they were sitting a lot of guys but not impressive. The US is confident and believe in what they are doing. Argentina besides some Messi magic hasn't been that impressive either.
If Messi goes cold then Argetina is definitely a different team. I like our draw and also think Germany was the best prep for Belgium. We will grow from this loss and we will also have an extra days rest. I would love to see Algeria and Netherlands smack the hell out of Germany and Mexico on Monday.

I think you're confusing Belgium with Germany. Belgium did not look spectacular in one of the lesser groups. Had they been in our group, they very well may be packing their bags right about now.
Let's take care of business with Belgium first. I thought we had a golden opportunity 4 years ago when we could have played Uruguay/South Korea in the quarter-finals if we got past Ghana.
They are like lil Germany. Their squad is loaded with quality. Look at their wikipedia page and look at the the clubs these guys play for. This game isn't gonna be a cake-a-walka.

We step it up and we have a chance, wont be easy at all, and we are the underdogs but I think we are very capable of the win. I think we match up with Belgium better than Ghana or Germany, so there's that.
Exactly. I'm not worried about Belgium - I'm worried about our performance. If our performance is there we'll be more than capable of beating them... and reaching the semis too.
We had a crap group draw but I think we could actually get to a 3rd place game after Netherlands smashes us!

I don't understand people who think we're going to the Semis! How are we going to contain Messi? I bet we'll have enough trouble with the big lanky dude with big hair, not to mention the golden child. Listen, if we get really lucky playing Greece ball we may squeak through in a once-in-a-lifetime fluke (greece euros), but unlikely that we have the requisite talent to beat Argentina. I'm even worried about Belgium. They are leagues better than us. Even a broken clock is right twice a day, so I'm leaving open the possibility that our 'broken attack and broken #10" can score against a powerhouse team in their backyard.
