Trip Advisor: http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopi...G-Rio_de_Janeiro_State_of_Rio_de_Janeiro.html But I haven't seen them myself.
I'm attending 57 and 59. Leaving Fortaleza on July 5 6:55 am and connecting in Sao Paolo to get to Salvador.
Can't speak for TAM, but Gol has the same restrictions and they are ignored. MANY people had the standard rollerboards like in the US. There is no way they are under 5kg. I would say the carry on situation, as to what people are carrying on, is the same as I have seen everywhere else in the world. I'm carrying on a large computer bag/briefcase and a camera backpack that I weighed at about 7-kg (15.5 pounds) total.
No problem bring beer and large bottles of water through natal but no chance with a small bottle of mosquito repellant on the previous trip. No way of knowing just try. So far so good on my flights. No cancellations on the day. Some queues and delays but nothing major.
Finally got screwed by an airline in Brazil Went to the Ecuador v Honduras match in Curitiba last night. Got to airport for my flight back to Florianopolis with Azul Flight had been cancelled months ago Azul had sent my confirmation emails which I had on the phone saying good to go 3 days ago and about 10days ago. Checking the reference on the internet showed no indication the flight wasn't going ahead. Azul informed me they tried contacting people. A pile more people rocked up for the same flight with the same issue. Big stuff up there end. Anyway they came to the party sort of Option 1 was to await a flight this morning and spend a night in the airport. Option 2 was to get a Taxi at Azul's expense to Florianopolis. Took option 2 Cabbie was bemused with the paperwork from Azul and had to check it with them and clarify with his boss afterwards I it was right to do. Ended up hitting the road. Unable to sleep with him whizzing about at 140-160kmph and the car rattling Had an hour hold up in Curitiba with a bad traffic accident a car was under a truck. Ouch Made it back to my hotel in Florianopolis at 3:30am Tipped the cabbie R$100 and made sure he was to fleece Azul as much as he could Thank god that was the only flight with them.
Gol 1823 from FOR to GRU and GOL 1164 from GRU to SSA. Arrive in Salvador at 2:35pm and hopefully get to the match on time
I have the opportunity to get tickets to macth 57, quarter finals in Fortaleza, on 04/07, but am having trouble finding fligths from Sao Paulo at reasenable prices ( everything I found is over R$1000 for the return trip pp). Does anyone have ideas for alternative (and cheaper) ways to get to the game. Thanks a lot.
Anyone got refunds from GOL for canceled flight? I remember reading some sort of twitter contact option to get refund faster. Does anyone know?
I am in a same boat. My Japan TST turned to Colombia TST includes QF @ Fortaleza. But I can not find any flight from SP on July 3 or 4. I think R$1000 is reasobable tho...
Yeah. I would prabaly pay the RS 1000, if I could go on July 3 and come back on July 5/6. But the prices to this dates were 2x as much and last time i checked not even that was showing on kayak. The best option i've seen so far was a promotiom Gol did two days ago: going to natal on July 2 and back from Fortaleza on July 7 for about RS 650 pp. I didnt buy because of the dates
is it possible to check into Gol flights online beforehand? it seems to not allow me to do it for some reason. Edit - directly booked Gol flight seems fine whereas one booked through Expedia is not
yes, they e-mail me several days before, I think about 4-7 days before, and I checked in early for all my flights (4 so far).
Just to let you know the drama today myself and 4 other plane loads heading to Belo for the Brazil v Chile match We were left in Rio at SDU The day was a joke a light fog delayed flights early morning and then flights were allowed to leave for some reason they wouldn't allow planes to land so there were no planes arriving to take the passengers of course very little info was given and by 11:30 am and not on a plane we were ********ed Ridiculous as the conditions were not even close to being bad add in then there were thousands of others walking out there were no taxis buses to get back to Copacabana just to top things off TAM are refunding my money in 40 days Ps I had a 9am flight for what it's worth Pps I am really looking forward to going to the France game and the Argentina game in the next few days at the same airport
No after hitting the jackpot to get that ticket my dream to see Brazil play in the WC in Brazil will not be coming true. What sucked the most is I went to the effort to for go m50 in Rio on the same day and by the time I was clear of the airport disaster had no chance to make a last minute sale without getting screwed
Anybody know what's going on with flights out of fortaleza July5? Impossible everything is sold out, no?
I've had 3 internal flights in 2 days and all went smoothly. Avianca and Gol. Good sized seats too. Hopefully this standard continues. Based on post above sounds like it's prudent to get flights to city of game as early as possible in case of delays.
Really feel for you MFKS78. The flights to Belo H from GIG on saturday did all go it appeared although some others were cancelled. The fog looked pretty bad to me. I was surprised but glad ours took off. I was on GOL. I couldn't see the orange tip of the wing at one point on the runway. It was better when we took off but visibility was poor. I don't think it would have taken off in Europe. I lost a game before the tournament started to a cancelled flight but in the end all mine worked ok. I went to ten games in nine different venues. 4 games involved a morning flight on matchday and a 5th involved 2 morning flights. Now there were queues, there were delays and gate changes and sometimes no gate info. One left 90 minutes before the time on the departures board and from a different gate but they told us to ignore the board (Manaus to Brasilia) and we did. However they all worked. Everyone seemed to get on ok. Indeed TAP (Portugal's national airline) proved to be far far worse than any domestic airline in Brazil. I flew with 4 - Avianca, Azul, Tam & GOL.
Good rule if it is your country and a vital game you cannot miss. However not practical during a world cup if you want to see a lot of games.
Well if you decide to fly on gameday then I guess you just have to be prepared to miss the game. Especially in a country like Brazil with a very congested and inefficient air system and huge distances. My group just gave up on seeing most of the extra matches we wanted because of the risk.
