When i saw Goetze missing that chance, and gave that ball away just after.. i said myself lets see how some will react to ozil miss and goetze miss. I can see from conflicting reaction to both miss here, most were quite for Goetze miss.... I think some fans they abuse very much about ozil, isn`t he top scorer and top assister in qualifying campaign? Even when he has good game he`s booed. Today he was really good, he misses a goal then gets subbed. It`s only normal that he reacts like that. No matter what he does some peopel are never satisfied. He`s a fragile person, let`s not push the kid that much!. There is even someoene saying he stopped playing, wow really does he really divide that much opinion. That guy who said ozil had stopped playing did he even mention Ozil had a good game before he 'stopped playing' !!
It`s not an opinion when obviously one ignores the great game he had and get stuck on one miss. And then say such silly thing as ' he stopped playing ' . That`s simply hatred. Curious how did u see his performance today?
i heard from sources that low check the forum between the two halves and gain more insight on what should he do. I cant confirm or deny that.
Well I don't think anyone said anything too outrageous yet. Then again, I'm blocking most dopey people so I don't see a lot of it.
We'll I've always advocated a front 3 of muller gotze and Reus.. Since no Reus then ozil or schurrle I also like lahm in midfield I liked Kroos as a provider and khedira did well too.. Would've liked to see bastian get minutes too, it's very important.. I thought defense was pretty good, not 100% but decent enough.. (I knlw 4-0, but they had several clear cut chances they completely flopped too) I thought a little soft pk but more or less pk IMO. A little soft red card.. He should've warned pepe at least ON TO THE NEXT!
At least the Americans understood the irony in getting people with guns to enforce a "no-guns" law. I'm going to miss this place.
Lahm seems to have fully settled in as a midfielder now in all aspects. I have 100% confidence in him as the #6 in a 4-3-3. It feels good.
Believe it or not, Toni Kroos, who is always seen as "lazy", ran 11.3km in this match. more than any other player on the pitch
Like I said earlier, I thought Kroos was pretty good 7/10 and I'm his biggest critic, just ask anybody on the Bayern boards. Also, I thought Khedira was pretty solid 6/10 and liked him pushing up the field.
Really the ideal midfield for a tournament like this. Players that can keep the ball very well and have a great workrate. Wouldn't tinker with it too much if I were Löw. Also, Kroos made and won 3 tackles (only Boateng had more), made the most passes, had the best passing accuracy of any player and played the most passes into the final third. He was just about perfect in this game.
Excellent opening game. Pretty much all that I have to say has already been said, but I genuinely think this team has a better chance at a trophy than it's ever had since Low's taken over, as long as he continues with this shape. There is a special balance to the team with Khedira, Kroos, and Lahm all providing something unique, yet necessary to secure the midfield. Khedira (who was particularly impressive considering he's just come back from injury) gives energy and forward drive with and without the ball, Kroos retains and recycles it, and Lahm cleans up the scraps in addition to his stable passing. The 4-2-3-1 was more attacking and exciting, but as a German fan you never felt "safe" whenever we lost the ball because there was rarely enough support in midfield. With this formation, we play at a slower pace but are in control, and have the right platform to let Goetzil and Muller shine individually and collectively. My hopes may be too high following a big win, but I really want to see us play Spain with this setup. I think we may be the one team that can keep the ball and play our game against them.
Good points. I believe Lahm has fully transitioned into a true #6 and I finally feel fully comfortable with him protecting the back 4. The movement and dynamism of Özil, Götze and Müller today gave Portugal nightmares, while the compactness and organization of the rest of the team was quite impressive.
I still wonder though if this lineup will continue to look as good when teams bunker down. The nice thing about Portugal was they gave us fair amounts of space to prowl around the field. Teams like Ghana and the US will no doubt take notes and be more compact against us.
Both teams don't posse the same threat the Portuguese do when it comes to counter attacks, so we will play a little more freely against them. The Americans gassed 45 mins into the game, I'm sure we gonna make them chase the ball for the first 45 mins and then try to kill them off in the second half. Ghana will have to come out and attack from the first minute cuz for them the next game is do or die and hopefully we will be able to pick them apart on the counter.
I'm not nearly as worried about "bunker" teams with the new 4-3-3 tactics as I was with the 4-2-3-1. We have a true #6 to protect the back 4 and everyone seems to know what their responsibility is defensively. Counter attack goals shouldn't be as much of a problem as they were in the past. Also for set pieces we have Boateng, Hummels, Mertesacker and Höwedes on the pitch so I feel pretty comfortable about not conceding in that regard as well. With the free roles our attacking trio are given and the quality they possess I believe we are good for at least 1 goal in any 90 minute match. The one thing that does worry me is what will happen if our CBs trying to play fullback or Mertesacker get isolated against a Robben or Hazard or Messi? Hopefully our midfielders will keep putting in the required defensive work and make sure those guys are always double teamed.
