Really? I really can't see the advantage, I mean, you'd probably save 2 or 3 hours, but just the hassle of going to a new city, then getting to its airport, not to mention that it's more expensive.
I tend to agree but there were more seats on the flights out of Campo Grande. The added bonus of getting to see the Pantanal would have been a factor.
Thanks for your advice guys but my problem is that I have a connecting flight from Sao Paulo to Florianopolis the next day (4:00pm) and there are literally no flights out of Cuiaba to SP 24 hours after the Aus-Chile game. I have no idea what to do but I feel like I'm gonna have to fork out a lot of money either way!
Have you called/tweeted or in any way contacted the airline? Given that the flight was moved more than 4 hours I think you may be entitled to either a full refund or have the flight moved free of charge.
Skyscanner.net is showing a couple of options Cuiaba to Sao Paulo. Azul at 10:30pm for A$399 and Gol at 11:15pm for A$241.
Thanks mate, appreciate you looking that up. But that probably only leaves me 60-90 minutes to get from the stadium to the airport after the game (where as previously I had two hours). I think I would need the traffic to be perfect which is highly unlikely after an international sporting event! Would anyone take this risk for $400 + the cost of a new flight if I miss it?!
Have tickets for two QF...Rio on the 4th then Brasilia on the 5th. Kick off in Rio is 13:00 and our flight leaves GIG (couldn't get SDU) at 18:40 that same day....I'm really stressing about making this one, will have less than 3 hours after the final whistle to make the check-in. Actually thinking about heading to GIG that morning to store our bags, then head straight there after the game, rather than having to head back to Copacabana pick up our gear then on up to the airport. Anyone know how congested the roads are from Cento to GIG? Any thoughts or recommendations are most welcome. Thanks
If it was daylight hours I definitely would. There's just something about walking the streets in the dark with my backpack and all my belongings in a foreign country that just doesn't sit well with me...
I've tried calling them but couldn't get through all the Portuguese voice menu and speak to a real person. I've just sent them a tweet (translated to Portuguese). What are my rights in this situation do you know?
Tweet them in English it's fine I've done this before, tell them TAM changed my flight need full refund flight times don't suit new changes......Part1 Cont Part 2....my Eticket number is XXXXXXXXX please follow me so we can DM Cont Part 3....please can I have a case number Contact them between 8am and 8pm Brasilia Time if you get no response hit them on Facebook too
Long trip for Japanese standard but some Japanese doing as well. Cuiaba is very limited and expensive. If someone have enough time but no money, it will be a option.
Thanks Stuckin1au, I appreciate your help. I ended up calling them and they said the flight was changed due to airspace restrictions. I can either fly out of Cuiaba early and miss the game (whole reason for going there) or get a refund and spend 2 extra nights stuck in Cuiaba with no booked accommodation and also lose money on another flight booked out of Sao Paulo. Neither option is ideal but hopefully I can work something out. By the way, has anyone seen the protests on the news today? I'm usually pretty positive about these sorts of things but I have a feeling we're in for some serious delays/interuptions over the next month. I didn't hear the city, but even some police were on strike somewhere in Brazil today...
Don't mistake protests and strikes, they're not related. They're doing these strikes right now because they know the government will throw money at them to stop it before the WC. Only police strike I heard about today was the civil (investigative) police in some states, but they just set a date for it.
My wife and I are planning on flying from Rio to SP (and back) for the Netherlands/Chile match on Monday the 23rd. There are early morning and later at night nonstop flights that get us into and out of SP in plenty of time to catch the match, but does anyone know the amount of time we should plan for travel to and from the airport in SP to the match? It looks like the flight would come into CGH and leave from GRU(??) Thanks!
TAM have put together a guide for the World Cup. http://www.paixaoporvoareservir.com.br/downloads/guia-do-passageiro-TAM-EN.pdf
Did you get an email acknowledging that you sent the request and its being processed? I sent me email to refunds@tam.com.br and I get nothing back. The call center people told me i should get a automatic confirmation that the email was received but i dont. Ive sent it 3x from different email accounts and nothing.
What's the limit on liquids and carry on bag weight on domestic flights, and are they enforced by the airlines? I've seen 100ml as the limit for liquids and 5kg/10lbs for carry ons. Really hoping to just use a carry-on for all my flights but mine weighs more than 5kg for sure. Thanks.
They only check the weight of the carry on if it looks too big, so make sure to compact it as much as possible.
Thanks, I plan to buy some hand sanitizer and toothpaste in O'Hare to avoid TSA but I was worried I'd have to throw them out in Sao Paulo.
Thanks for the reply Simon and Lucas. Have got liquids and a reasonably heavy but compact bag, and I'll report back what Avianca lets me get away with on my flight tomorrow.
just a pre-warning for people....buddy that landed at GRU on American at 6:20 BRT this morning is currently in a 3 HOUR immigration line and has missed his connection
