I think Gruezo did well this game, obviously he's still trying to adapt so he's gonna make some mistakes but overall I think he held his own, this was a good test for him.

Now some things that need to improve, of course defense- Guagua was not too bad but still needs to work on positioning and awareness.... Banguera does not convince me and he seems overweight, I'd rather see Dominguez in goal if he recovers in time...

Ayovi - He seems hit or miss, he can bless us with beast FK or cross but just easily can do half assed defending like on England's 2nd goal.. Still I thought he was one of our better players. 7/10

Caicedo - Just ok, I think he needs to be more aggressive attacking, when he sees the ball wide he desn't attack the box like he should. The thing is we need him because he can hold up the ball and have nobody else who can do that. 6.5/10

Montero - That boy can fly and was one of our best players, a little sloppy at times but man he looks like he can blow past players at will and is starting to get himself into scoring positions.. 8/10

Arroyo - Always said this dude is underrated he is our only true threat from outside the thing he does that montero doesn't is show a bit of patience he finds the space he looks for his shot and le pega con un fierro lol Great goal and in the few minutes he had I think he proved he deserves minutes in the WC. 7/10

    A. Valencia - I'm not gonna analyze his performance too much but I thought he did what is expected of him but I think Rueda should have tried him in CM just to see how he does... What happens if Noboa or Gruezo get hurt I would rather see Valencia move to the middle and see Ibarra/Arroyo/Rojas wide. 8/10

What's up with all these people thinking we are playing dirty? That Castillo injured Montes and Gruezo intentionally threw himself against Chamberlain?

its ridiculous... but we are a physical team. A lot of times its the other team knowing this and trying to out negate the advantage. In the case of Montes he unfortunately paid the price.

The "Ecuador De Futbol" youtube channel usually uploads full matches within a matter of hours after every Ecuador game.

Any game Arroyo plays he has to play like yesterday with lots of freedom and space. He's not so much the type of player to stay stuck to the wing. But yeah, that would be very interesting to see with Valencia as a center mid.

We are physical but not dirty. We play to our strengths, our guys are not the most technical but they are fast and strong, so of course we will play counterattack and knock opponents off the ball with physical play. But you rarely see our guys make the type of stupid tackles Montes and Sterling made. Unfortunately for Montes, Castillo's legs are like tree trunks. And frankly Sterling deserved to be choked for pulling that crap in a World Cup warm-up match.

Rueda told Arroyo to come in and tie the game and Arroyo showed just how it's done but let's not get carried away this was a tired and worn down England team... If Ruedas idea of instructing players is basically hey "go score a hatrick and win us the game" then we're in trouble.

Does anyone know how bad the injury of Noboa is? Is he gonna be ready in time for Ecuador's first game?

Supposedly he is gonna be ready. Rueda just rushed him into playing for no reason. The right thing to do was to play Mendez or Saritama and let Noboa finish the last 30-35 minutes of the game. That's where he is screwing up. At least he let Felipe take a break the second half vs England. If he's not ready I'd start Mendez or move Valencia to the middle and have Ibarra start.

That's too late. Vs Honduras sounds right. We can't sacrifice Noboa and Castillo til the end. We gotta win the first game and then the second. The last one vs France should be to rest players and give Rojas, Yoya, Saritama, and other players some time.

Watford plays in the Championship not premier league. Either way, best of luck to Paredez. Quite a fast/tricky player on that wing.

I watched the Ecuador - Eng match and found it to be quite entertaining. I think the best comment I can make for it is neither team stood out to me as being clearly favorite. That shows leverage. I also have a tone of respect for Valencia and you realize just how important his leadership is for Ecuador. Even when he gets upset, he doesnt bow down to anyone. I did find Montero to be 'not himself'? Watching him for Morelia, he lives for those 1 on 1 situations and yet vs England he was almost over cautious and took no risk in trying to beat his mark? This is his WC to shine. Also, the CB #3? Don't know his name. He's really tall and lanky. He is slooooow. Is that Guagua?

Overall, Ecuador look very solid, very well balanced in their lines. One thing Rueda does bring is confidence to his players and you can tell while he respects his rivals, he's well aware that Ecuador can take 1 of those 2 spots. Suerte amigos!

I have a question? Is Paredes, Guagua, and Banguera the best we could do in those positions? They are absolutely horrible! Paredes has been sucking it up since the qualifiers when he made that own goal against Chile. Guagua, I don't even know where to begin! He's the worst I've ever seen! He's slow and allows passes between his legs! I don't see how anyone can think he's worthy of playing in a WC team. And finally Banguera. It seems like he can't stop any hard and direct kicks. If I were an opposing striker, I'd just try my luck from a distance and know that at least 1 out of 3 shots will make it through. I'll be praying for these guys to tighten up and play much better.

your right i thought we faced France second in world cup and either way lets see how we do on the first two games compared to other teams to see who we put up against France even the number of goals could keep us from qualifying maybe a change in line up is needed to make us more defensive against them we still have to see noboa and castillo are vital to us but we can always make our mid field work out our only problem is defense i agree they should play vs honduras to make the most of that game the more goals for us the better

we have a better chance vs France now that Ribery is out

I believe in our NT team and they will make it to the second round.

The main idea will be to defeat Switzerland no matter what's the score and if we complete that mission, the next one will obviously be to win against Honduras but by a margin of 2-4 goal advantage. I find it very possible for that to be done but again, the main task is to defeat Switzerland. Once that is done, we got 70% chance to pass through. By the time we play France we get breathe easy, play some substitute players and prep for the next round. Now obviously to avoid playing Argentina, we will want to finish off in first place in the group. That's where the game with France would be vital. Only our players know how far they want to go. If they wanna just play the next round and go home then just finish second. If they aspire for more, then win the group and we will get a more accessible opponent in the round of 16.

I doubt we win the group and at times I even doubt we pass the group phase but everything will be up to our defense. That's the key to qualify: Defend well.

A decent line up against France would be

Banguera; Paredes, Achilier, Guagua, Bagui; Ibarra, Mendez, Castillo, Rojas; Felipe, Fidel

I feel sorry for Ribery, but c'mon…the guy has won almost everything, he's played 2 World Cups, won the Champions' League, World Club Cup, numerous individual honors, etc.

Does anyone else think Dominguez should start over banguera? And I don't understand why Rueda won't start Achilier over Guagua, to me he's the better choice
