After 90 minutes the scoreline was 0:1. No one would be praising Guardiola for fielding 5 defenders and parking the bus if Hummels goal hadn't been disallowed. Instead people would be talking about Bayern's toothless offence (after the first 10 minutes) and their inability to score. Coaches don't get applause for losing a game.

And it's not like Dortmund wasn't missing players too. Especially the entire first choice central midfield of Gündogan and Bender. Kuba and Subotic have been injured for many months as well.

@dw_sports: Germany thumped their U20 side 7-1 today, 4 goals from Schürrle. Löw used 20 players, but no Lahm, Schweini, Neuer, Schmelzer or Mertesacker

@dw_sports: In Germany's 7-1 win over their U20 side, it was scoreless at halftime. Guess Löw's 9 subs worked. #dfbcamp #Brazil2014

Schurrle scored four goals and Volland scored a brace in...all goals in 2nd half. It was 0-0 before half time, Podolski was the other scorer

Also Durm, Kramer, Ginter and Volland wore jersey numbers 24-27 for what it's worth.

Lars Bender has been cut from the 27.

The other 3 players, should be Ginter , Draxler and Mistafi in my opinion.

Schuerrle, Durm, Volland and Weidenfeller played well if that matters at all

Good for Durm. Can be breakout player for Germany if he starts.

Only concern is Durm hasn't played a minute at all since Schmelzer is back from injury. And I assume Klopp knows what he is doing......Durm isn't as ready as people think and Schmelzer is still the better player now

I also think Loew prefers a lefty as his left back. Our wingers such as Mueller and Reus are more like inside forwards. And rarely provide width.

Like Bayern has shown in the Pokl Final, without width will create a "jam" in the middle and will find it difficult to penetrate

Don't think two rookies starting at the back is a good idea. Experience is crucial for defenders but not as much for attackers. This have been confirmed by several coaches like SAF and Wenger. Especially games at this level. Two rookies starting is not the way to go.

Prefer Hummels starts as a Libero at CB, along with Mertesacker and Boateng. Rotates between CB n DM.....so that Lahm can play as a RB

    ------------------Neuer
    -------Boateng--Merte--Hummels
    --Lahm-------(Hummels)-----Podolski
    ------------Schweini--Kroos
    ---Mueller------Oezil--------Reus

Two rookies at the back? No Mertesacker? Mertesackers experience is still needed at the back

    Won't happen.

This team, especially with the players at the back,

WE CANNOT AFFORD TO BENCH ANY OF BOATENG, MERTESACKER OR HUMMELS.

    'nuff said

if Loew insists a 4-2-3-1/4-1-4-1, this will be my team:

    ---------------------------------------Neuer
    ----Boateng--------Mertesacker-----------Hummels--------Grosskreutz
    --------------------------------------Lahm
    -----Mueller------------Kroos----------------Oezil-------------Reus
    -------------------------------------Goetze

Schweini is a big question mark and dont wanna make any conclusion before he is recovered fromn injuries

Schuerrle may start ahead of Goetze. Appeares to be a better aerial threat inside the box, decent scoring rate too

Its bascially Kroos and Lahm in a 4-2-3-1

Oezil more AM, Lahm as a holding midfielder at DM and Kroos more CM (similar role as Schweini's)

I kinda like that line-up. Could work with Reus upfront and Götze on the wing as well. Schürrle as impact player in the 2nd half.

I also prefer to have Großkreutz starting. The team is too nice from time to time. Recently he proved he can play the anti-social asshole part that this team needs.

Didn't we bench Boateng in favor of Bender at the last tournament? He played better than Boateng as I recall. Why can't Durm be given the same shot?

Lahm can't simultaneously be our RWB and our CDM.

Bender only played one game as RB, and he wasn't a NT rookie. Has played many games before the EM 2012

I don't like having two rookies at the back, consider we are most likely gonna start Grosskreutz at the back.

I m thinking Boateng at RB n Grosskreutz at LB is the solution. So Hummels n Mertesacker can play in the middle

No it doesn't. With Lars Bender out, Loew is just gonna cut 3 players from this preliminary squad

Loew has already cut Goretzka, Hahn, Max Meyer and Jansen. That's 26 players, brought in Kramer later...that's 27 players

But with Lars Bender out, only 26 players left now

Boateng was suspended for the last group game vs Denmark iirc which made Lars step in and he didnt play better than Boateng.

I think no matter what we need our best players in attack...

    Muller, Reus, gotze, ozil, Kroos(bastian)

Muller: because he's muller....no one can explain his importance or how he does things..

Reus: he is a fast dribbler and technical player with always an eye on goal. Plus great free kick specialist.

Gotze: one of the most talented Germans in this generation. Can dribble and play in tight spaces. Always a poacher in the box..

Ozil: no matter what anyone thinks, still a creative genius. We will need him to help unlock defenses and interlink with the other attackers.

Kroos; will need him to move the ball around and control possession in midfield. Has a great shooting ability, great free kick taker. Has a great long range passing ability.

Bastian: depending on his form, can take Kroos role. More defensively sound and tougher physically.

Schurrle: I like the idea of him as super sub. He has excelled on that role for the NT before. Has the speed and dribbling ability. Has a powerful shot.

I don't want to see klose, poldi on the field...
