The Schalke U19s just completed the West-Double, winning the A-Jgd BL West title and defending the Westfalenpokal for a 2nd year in a row.
Hendrik Lohmar is one of the underrated members of this U19 team. He's been an important defensive player controlling the central midfield in the League, Cup, and UEFA competitions. A tall and agile player, strong in tackles. Also has good footwork and passing skills. Very well rounded and definitely a talent to follow.
I don't think he's necessarily underrated. He's one of the younger members of this U19 team. He's not as young as Multhaup, but still young. I think he'll be one of the stars of the team next year. He definitely will have a chance to prove he's first team material at some point down the line.
Lohmar certainly a good candidate for box-to-box midfielder of the future. Plays with an edge, and has combination of strength and technique. Multhaup reminds me of a Holtby type player. Clever midfielder that has versatility to play in various roles. I think Felix Platte is an interesting striker talent but he's had an injury plagued season.
Out in the semi finals vers Hoffenheim 0:1 0:0 Nevertheless Schalke U19 in top Four three years in a row
Do any of you happen to know if Joshua Bitter at Schalke has American citizenship? He's a '97 who I believe was playing for Schalke's U-17's as a wingback this past season. Over in the Yanks Abroad section of the USA forum, we've been trying to figure out whether or not he has American citizenship, but we've yet to get any confirmation.
I didn't get a chance to respond in depth in the other thread earlier today. I have no idea about his nationality. I suspect @Homa might know, if anyone actually does. What I do know is that he received high praise, and it looks like Elgert, our U19 coach, is taking him on. Our U19 team is very competitive, arguably the best in the country, so Joshua probably won't play much in his first few months with the squad. That said, pretty much all of our senior team players come directly from the U19s. If Joshua shows promise to become a decent pro, the coaching staff will know about it within a year or so. Our U19 team has a strong record of developing fantastic CBs, so I'd say he's in good hands. Hopefully Homa has more insight into his nationality.
Sorry, I don't know what nationality Bitter has. I'm no closer to the club or anyone who works there than everybody else here. I only read the normal reports and the use normal sources (club homepage, transfermarkt, kicker etc) that are available to anyone. Bitter is a German according to Transfermarkt and Schalke's homepage but that doesn't really tell much at this stage. Most boys who were born or grew up here go with the German nationality at this stage.

I figured there was a relatively small chance. They just don't announce that type of thing when these guys are young. Come back next year @ussoccer97531 when this kid is 18, having played his first season with the U19s. All that said, if someone has reported him as American there's probably a good reason for it. If you believe he's a military child, knowing what part of the country he's from could give you a clue. There aren't any military bases in NRW, that state in which Schalke, Dortmund, Leverkusen, and Gladbach play. Most American military bases are in southern Germany. If he's from southern Germany, there's probably a larger chance he's actually American.
Another thing to mention Neuer Özil Höwedes Draxler 4 former players of the "Knappenschmiede" in Belo Horizonte yesterday We can be proud )
We can, although Özil was only a short time in our youth system. I always have some trouble describing him as a Schalke product.
http://knappenschmiede.schalke04.de/de/aktuell/140711_u17_auftakt/page/1349--6-6-.html Uwe Grauer takes over as new coach of the U17. He worked previously as assistant in the U19. There's also 6 more new additions this season for the U17. Schalke has recruited: Fabian and Lukas Kunze from VfL Theesen, Nico Wolters of Rot-Weiss Essen, Maurice Buckesfeld from Hombrucher SV, & Björn Trinks from Chemnitzer FC.
Schalke U19 win the Bundesliga Cup. The three-day tournament took place in Schwäbisch Hall. Schalke defends the title with strong performances, while also maintaining clean sheets in each match. http://www.lagalaxy.com/blog/beat/2...-lopez-and-abraham-romero-called-internationa Interesting. We don't normally look outside our borders for youth players. I know we signed that polish kid to a youth contract last year, but that type of thing doesn't seem to happen very often.
Schalke signs Felix Käfferbitz from TuS Koblenz. The 16 y/o striker will join the U17 team. Already making a great impact scoring 2 goals in the season opener victory against Mönchengladbach U17.
Apparently Haji Wright is in our U17 team photo, listed as a guest player. He's in the top row, 4th from the right. He may be unable to sign until he's 18, due to European labor law. American sources are also indicating that his younger brother is also involved with the club. Both players are forwards, basically young versions of EMCM, but perhaps slightly more athletic than EMCM.

Felix Käfferbitz has been a great addition and top talent this season. Currently leads the B-Junioren West in scoring with 9 goals, and one of the best scoring rates at the U17 level in the nation. Keep up the good work!
