Maybe I'm not "anti-Red" enough, but I really am not worried where Liverpool ends up, rather I'm concerned with the Blues' finish. We'll play in the Europa league qualifying (unless Arsenal truly tank it over the next two league games) - but I'd rather see a strong finish, including beating Man City. I think the longer term effects on Everton are more important than depriving the Reds of another-flash-in-the-pan before they drop to 8th next year.
Clearly not. Longer term, finish9ing 4th won't matter, despite it appearing to be significant. But Liverpool MUST NOT win the title. Fans can live off a title for a long time. Once it's in the record, it's there to stay. Man City or Chelsea must win the comp. We cannot defeat Man City.
I get that - at the same time, I want something for the Blues to live off of as well - and finishing strong (even if in Europa league as I don't think we'll be in the CL) and setting a new standard under Martinez are the things that set Everton up for the future - not just as a memory but as a new expectation.
