There's always clubs who get relegated due to financial trouble so they could always benefit from that.

Sadly, that's a reality. Ideally, I would like all of my teams to do well, not because their opponents were really bad, or in forfeiture, but because they were the best of all of the excellent teams! That's not too much much to wish for is it? :D

Hello, I am looking for some clarification. My French club is RC Strasbourg and I am/was happy to see them heading in the right direction after all the troubles and relegations they have had and to be back this season in the National is a good thing I haven't followed them very closely since they had left Ligue 2 but am troubled to see them in 15th! Do 4 teams really go down (relegated) in the National?

4 teams go down because the CFA has 4 groups so 4 teams have to come up. National used to have 20 teams so 4 going down wasnt bad but this year they went to 18 teams and to me 4 relegations with 18 teams is not fair.

Unfortunately, yes. Two more match days. We need Luçon to slip up.

I do agree that is way too many teams going down in an 18 team league.

The only way to fix it is to reduce the CFA to 3 groups each and I dont know if thats being discussed or if it makes sense.

Is it a realistic chance that Strasbourg will stay up? What happened this season was it the coaching or the players not good enough... we always appeared at least in the season before to have some players of a higher calibre playing for us. did that change?

They can stay up if teams ahead of them get relegated due to financial difficulties. It seems to happen every year.

If they win the last 2 matches what needs to happen ahead of them to stay up (not including financial issues).

Hopefully RCS will win their last two matches. They need others to lose too (at least Lucon - it would be a bonus if Boulogne were to also lose), but they must first win those last two. I don't think they can stay up if they only win one. Then other team's financial difficulties might come into play.

Well, Racing lost today vs. US Colomiers, and that let US Colomiers move ahead of them in the standings!

It looks like only financially troubled teams going down, can keep Strasbourg up now. :(

I was really frustrated on Friday when checking the scores. I hope that the club can someday regain their status among the top flight.

You should have had more faith. It was pretty obvious they would get saved.

Do you mean they have stayed up? I haven't been looking recently (just got back from a couple of camping trips), but I thought they had already been relegated! How on earth did they stay up without some other team(s) being relegated for financial troubles?

    http://www.soccerway.com/teams/france/racing-club-de-strasbourg/

With the last four in the group being relegated, Colomiers, Strasbourg, Vannes, and UPdG were all relegated - or so I thought.

No strassbourg are not going down they were saved by other teams getting relegated for financial troubles.

However Strassbourg has changed its name to Strassbourg Alsace.

While I am glad that Strasbourg stayed up, I would rather that it would have been because of their good performance on the pitch. I feel bad for any fan whose team goes down, unrelated to performance.

Now, I wonder if it is too late to get any additional good players to keep Strasbourg up, the right way?

They changed it like 2-3 years ago. Strasbourg-Colmar is a very good Alsace derby that will continue on for at least another year. They dont have much history together because Colmar have a total of 1 season in L1 and 5 in L2 in their history so it took Strasbourg falling down to the lower levels for the rivalry to develop.

I really want a Strasbourg jersey. Preferably 2007-2010 range. If anyone knows of a site to buy one, please let me know. Thanks. [IMG]

I looked on Racing's website, but you can't buy anything online, only from their shop at La Meinau! I honestly don't know when I'll visit Strasbourg, again. I have a bunch of female cousins, but none of them (including their husbands) care for footy, so I haven't asked any of them to get me a jersey.

BS store doesn't have anything for Racing, either. I like the picture of the old jersey you have attached, and I really like the new ones, too.

I like the newer ones too. Well, 2013/14, but the current ones aren't anything special imo. Thanks for the info.

RC Strasbourg used to have an excellent online shop and they were very good about communicating got my brother-in-law a camo 3rd shirt with his name on the back a few years back. When the team got into financial trouble the clubs official site ceased to be and the shop went with it.... sadly.

It's not hard to see there aren't many RC Strasbourg fans on this board, the last post here was a little over a year ago!

However, Racing is doing well up to this point, sitting in 2nd place in the table, 1 point behind ASM Belfort, and 2 points ahead of Orleans! If they can finish no lower than 2nd, they can win promotion to Ligue 2.

Here's hoping they can finish the season out, strong! Allez, Racing!

really wished they rebuild the stade de la meinau instead of Toulouse to host the euro 2016 , the "Eurostade" look pretty sharp aka the Marseille of the east lol

I have been following RCSA more closely this season from my understanding they are favorites to go up. I am still trying to get myself a jersey/shirt though. I have emailed the club every season (at least twice a season) for the last 3 seasons! Not a single reply. It gets frustrating I am trying to give them my money and they don't appear to want it. I don't understand why clubs (and there are tons in the Swiss leagues as well) that have non-existent online or off line for that matter shops. I know some of these clubs are small but surely some money could be made selling any quantity of shirts.
