http://baynews9.com/content/news/ba...icles/bhsn/2014/4/3/orlando_city_looks_f.html Preview from Orlando News source. And the one from the D&C: http://www.democratandchronicle.com...rochester-rhinos-open-season-orlando/7330099/ The game can be watched here: http://www.youtube.com/user/USLPRO
http://www.democratandchronicle.com...fall-3-1-at-orlando-in-season-opener/7372175/ Not too bad, but the first 20 min were brutal. It looked like a team that has been together playing against a team that is just starting to figure out who is starting. I am going to watch the match again before I comment more. But I was impressed how they responded and played the last 70 min well. Often a manager will break the match into 15 min increments. Yes, they were killed in the 1st 15 min, but the other ones they played decent against a team that has their number.
Line-up Banks- Rolfe Vu-Rozenboum-Rosenlund-Dixon Sossou-Hoffer-Slogic-Diallo Soffner Sossou was beat bad twice in the first 5 min after that he settled down. Vu with a great ball and almost scores in the 12'. The 2nd time around I thought the Rhinos did better than I gave them credit for the first time.
http://boxscorenews.com/dutch-lions-set-to-host-the-rochester-rhinos-p79900-68.htm Preview from the Dayton perspective. Match 2 vs Dayton 11 April at 7:30pm EST Dayton 1-0-1 with a win over Charlotte last week. This will be their home opener. Match will be streamed live on Youtube.com/USLpro
Rochester draw 1-1 with Dayton. They were the better team. One goal taken back due to a questionable offside call. The Dayton goal was in the 93rd and a potential foul on the keeper. The match was really unwatchable due to the stream and way the field was set up. Here are two reviews of the match. http://www.helltownbeer.com/2014/04/usl-pro-dayton-rochester-draw-1-1-in.html http://www.democratandchronicle.com...11/rochester-rhinos-play-draw-dayton/7627039/
Rochester. The majority of the possession, the majority of the chances, and a goal disallowed. After about 20 min, Dayton really stopped trying to play soccer, but really settled into kick and chase. In the end, Dayton managed to get a point, so I guess it worked for them. But I saw improvement over the Orlando match. I think that they will end up ok this year.
Match this weekend is against Chicago Fire Reserves on Monday. I am hoping for 3 points and progress in all facets of the game.
From Jeff Devronica: http://www.democratandchronicle.com...ach-will-miss-flash-match-in-chicago/7874643/ Diallo hasn't practiced all week and will not go to Chicago. Jon McCarthy (LaSalle University) will make his pro debut, starting ahead of New England Revolution loanee, Luis Soffner.
Rhino's win 0-2 with goals by Minh Vu and JC Banks. 4 points from three away matches. Not too bad. http://www.democratandchronicle.com...b-first-win-of-season-2-0-in-chicago/7971187/
http://www.democratandchronicle.com...-rochester-hall-of-fame-to-honor-six/8096395/ Details of the 6 who will be inducted to the Rochester soccer Hall of Fame at the home opener vs Charleston this Sunday.
1-0 win over Charleston with JC Banks goal. Solid match, the Rhinos controlled the play and Charleston really did not look too dangerous. Nice first step to trying to win back fans after last season.
http://www.democratandchronicle.com...early-goal-to-1-0-win-in-home-opener/8316709/ Jeff Devo's thoughts.
2 point weekend with two away draws at Richmond and Wilmington. Richmond could have been a victory, but at least points were picked up. Charleston picked up 6 points with away victories at Harrisburg and Dayton. They played two matches in three days instead of two in two. Next weekend in Orlando at home. Then we will see how far they have come.
Rhinos vs Orlando this weekend. This is the biggest match in Rochester in a while. Western Mass Pioneers will be the opponent in the US Open Cup next Wednesday.
Rhinos draw at home vs Orlando 1-1. They dominated the 1st half, then fall back the 2nd. http://www.democratandchronicle.com.../05/10/rochester-rhinos-draw-orlando/8957247/ This is the 3rd match of the season that they were ahead in, and let the other team come back to tie.
http://www.starnewsonline.com/article/20140513/ARTICLES/140519883?p=3&tc=pg Rhino's 4th in the league according to this guy.
http://nesoccertoday.com/?p=25735 Nice preview from NEsoccertoday. Insight from someone who follows both Western Mass due to their geographic proximity and Rochester due to the affiliation with them. I wonder if Alencar Junior and Will Daniels have good games, could Rochester sign either of them like they did with Mali Washington back in the 90s?
