The director did a fantastic job. The very light touch with the recreations and terrific use of historical footage gave the entire thing a starkness and weight that was quite powerful.
Looking "forward" to watching this - DVRd as I'm still in Canadia. Want to keep it to show my kids in a couple of years so they start to put the whole fabric of Liverpool together and why people 3000 miles away can have a connection to the team and city.
Seemed to me that when Burnham started his speech in 09, people saw another (younger) politician trying to make a political statement at a memorial rally and let him know about it. They were tired of being fed that pap. But the look on his face and the way he nodded to the crowd told me that he was really determined, right then, to try and do something.
I thought the same exact thing while watching the documentary last night (about his facial expressions and interaction with the crowd)...and didn't he come through?...wasn't he one of the few that followed through with his promises?
Yes, you could tell that it had a very profound affect on Burnham. Before that moment, he may not have had every intention of following through to that extent, but cheers to him for doing the will of the people and bringing things to light that were kept dark for a long time. Goodness, does that chant not send shivers down your spine?
I managed to watch it a few hours ago, I felt totally helpless and hopeless right up until the picture from the City game was shown. I wept like a baby from that moment 'til the end, I couldn't help it. Seeing how far this has come, I couldn't bare watching it for two hours and those 96 families keep fighting after 25 years. They are the real heroes of Liverpool.
Someone please help me with chronology: was Mr. Burnham's interrupted speech before or after that Arsenal match? Thanks.
I had to go back and look, bc I almost thought it was the same year. But, I believe the Arsenal FA Cup match was in '07.
Proud to say Kansas City Cauldron have made a JFT96, YNWA banner for me to hold at SKC home match tomorrow
This is fantastic. Awesome work by the Cauldron. I'll look for you Saturday. I suppose you'll be easy to find.
We do need to meet. I will be tailgating by the blue bus at 4:30 and usually go inside Member's Club at 6 or so. I stand about five rows back near the corner flag in the Member's Stand closest to the Club. Anyone selling merch at the blue bus can point me out. And my ugly mug is in profile pic. BTW, futbol club bar is open at 6am on Sunday, I will be there too.
@kopiteinkc agree, I've seen you over by the corner stick (as they say -- you can always tell a Liverpool fan in the room, just have that certain look about them). I'm generally in the last row (bc I sometimes stand on my seat) over by James and Mike. My name is Rob. Can't do blue bus sat, but will try and come over to the corner flag area pregame and say hi. Big weekend this. Cheers!
