Around Orlando's game on Saturday night, it occurred to me that the game was happening on Yuri's Night. That gave me a spark of inspiration: the "Space Derby", Houston Dynamo v. Orlando City SC

Naturally, there is a historical connection between us through the space program, with Orlando being near Kennedy Space Center and Houston hosting Johnson Space Center. I think that would be a great impetus for a secondary rivalry.

One of my own associates at The Ruckus suggested it's not a good idea for you guys to be involved in more than one rivalry. But several teams are involved in multiple rivalry cups. The Cows are involved in three.

It would also be the Unique Color Derby (orange v purple)

Better hurry up, then. It looks like Atlanta MLS might be eyeing orange.

Any rivalry with Orlando in MLS should have its roots in the fact that our two cities have actually played each other before in a championship arena. The '95 NBA Finals to be specific.

MLS-Atlanta would be fools to move away from the Atlanta Falcons red, white and black. Blank owns both.
    Look at Sounders/Seahawks

the problem with that is DC is already black and Chivas will be rebranded to those colors as well. So I could see them going with a different set of colors.

Guys, ATL has pretty much confirmed it's red, gold, and black for them.

    Good pickups there Stiffler!
I still love recalling the way Dream and the guys just came in a swept Shaq n Penny and their crew right outta the Finals there in '95! I mean if anyone remembers how good that Orlando team was they were 60-1 iirc at home in the regular season and playoffs combined going into the NBA Finals series. And Houston won those first two games IN Orlando to pretty much slam the door on Orlando players, coaches and fans hopes of winning silverware for their City. It's not like they have NFL or MLB teams to fall back on. Like San Antonio and Portland, the NBA is the team to run with but now MLS is there so I am sure their peeps have to be over the Moon with their new entry into another chance at winning something in the name of Orlando Florida.

If anything can be witnessed from the cultures of the cities in our Region III, specifically when Atlanta joins the conversation soon. There is this>Houston and Dallas: Orlando and Atlanta.
This should be a terrific setting for each of the two natural rivalries between the four cities to flow over into the matchups of the four when they play each other. I.e. Houston vs. Orlando or Atlanta vs. Dallas and so on.
Well, we get our first shot at Orlando and them against us this weekend so let the bloodshed in the South begin!!! BIG REBEL YELL!!!
