Stupid Valdés. Why'd you have to go and do that to yourself? It's hard to argue that Victor Valdés is not the greatest goalkeeper in the history of Barça. We were shocked and confused about his decision to leave the club after this season, but most of us respect his choice and appreciate all he's done for the club throughout its most successful period. This is a space to post greatest saves and triumphs videos, updates, and news on our most unsung hero, wherever he goes from here. Fake but hilarious.
Barcelona media stated Valdes still has his pre-agreement in place with Monaco, and that FCB is leaving the doors open should Monaco not honor their with Valdes. Monaco is standing by Victor so far. FCB could look into signing a second keeper as has been rumored.
Barca will offer Victor Valdes a contract extension if he is unable to find a new club because of his injury original article: http://www.ara.cat/esports/barca/BARCA-VALDES_0_1109289261.html Complicates things with MATS coming next season, but it's a nice gesture by the club to cover his rehab even if he insists on leaving once he's better. It's the way to treat a legend.
Morale booster video from the club: I agree with the cartoon above though: the last image shouldn't be of VV laid out with his hands over his face.
With the 2 year transfer ban that we just copped, could it be enough for Valdes to stay? I'm not too sure about the thought of Pinto being our main goalkeeper for 2 seasons, and I haven't seen Oier play so I dunno. I guess that young German keeper we were going to sign, as well as Alen Halilovic is now void aye? PS. Can't remember the last time I've been here, it's been years haha
To clarify, the transfer ban is for next two transfer periods, or windows, which equates to one full year/season. Barca cannot conduct any transfer dealings in the upcoming summer transfer period (July 1-August 31 of 2014) nor in the next winter transfer window (January 1-31 of 2015). They can resume transfer dealings in the summer of 2015.
Why did he hate being a GK ? Not the best GK, but one thing he could probably say he was the best at is ball distribution with his feet (and not only Barca). He messed up a few times, but given how many times he was put under pressure due to the playing style Pep required of him, he has been amazing in that department. I am not sure if this has been posted in the Media thread, but you can see him and Pique with some great foot skills in the futsal friendly 2 years ago (I think ?) between Pep and Tito. Here are some highlights.
