Obama is shoving this down your throats, GOPs, and please take that as the sexual metaphor it was always intended to be.
But will Democrats have the backbone to run this election supporting the ACA? History about the Dems lack of balls would tell me they will not.
Well, they better. Look, in some states this will be harder to manage, and that's okay. But Dems need to remind themselves that the percentage of those who dislike the law includes a lot of people who do so because they want a single payer system (i.e., they don't dislike the ACA because it went too far but, rather, because it didn't go far enough). You know, back in 2004, when Bush was re-elected, it was my conclusion that he did so on the fumes of his immediate post-9-11 performance. Six months later, and I don't believe he'd have won, as the Iraq and the Afghan wars dragged on. Sometimes six months can be a meaningless amount of time in American politics, other times it can be an eternity. On this April Fool's Day (I assume Fox will soon claim the ACA numbers are some sort of terrible AF joke), we're seven months out from the next national elections. Back in October, frankly, it seemed impossible that the exchange enrollments would get to 7 million by yesterday. And yet... Plus, the U-26ers, the off exchange numbers, the Medicaid enrollees. The trends are so clearly in the Dems favor as regards this law that it's not even funny. This HAS been a tumultuous transition for some people. In part, what we're seeing is the beginning of a cultural shift for millions of Americans who simply never had insurance before and, now, need to learn what it's like to use the healthcare system in a totally different way. It's not a simple or an easy thing. But the wrenching change associated with this first ever open enrollment period, it's pretty much over now. Good Lord, but it was imperfect. Still, the numbers are there. And now people will have seven months to use these plans before they go to the polls in November. I don't expect a sea-change in attitudes between now and then. But I do expect to see a gradual erosion of the dislike percentages coupled with a gradual improvement in the positive numbers. Mostly, I expect other issues to once again gain center stage, such as unemployment and economic growth stats.
Interesting numbers when it comes down to the TP: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs...harts-that-explain-the-politics-of-obamacare/ Repeal and Replace!* *Just don't ask what would we replace it with.
Isn't it the case that what few ideas the right actually has about that include some of the most popular parts of the ACA?
For most of the people in the country yes. Approve 41% Don' know 5% Dissaprove 53% Make it work 30% So, 71% of the country overall wants the law to work (even if they dissaprove). For the TP no. They want the law to fail. Approve 2% Don' know 1% Dissaprove 97% Make it fail 60% Benghazi! 99%
Just read an article about how the Ohio Democratic Party is refreshing the memory of their constituents about the Ohio SB 5, the anti-union bill. Benghazi, SB 5, it's all team politics and it's what turns regular people away.
I think I was not clear but I couldn't make the tabs work for me in the previous post. It is actually 41% that approve the law plus 30% (of the total) that think that we have to make the best of it, even if they don't approve it, so it is more like 71% agree that we cannot go back. For the TeaParty i the other way around. Almost all of them despisse the law and only 30% are willing to make it work. 60% wannts to make it fail.
Go back? When are we going forward? The ACA pretty much took the old system and expanded it to make it worse. Still a system reliant on insurance. Nothing to do with actually providing affordable health care. As people find out that their insurance covers little, it will become even less popular.
http://www.latimes.com/nation/la-na...tional-20140331,0,5472960.story#ixzz2xXuhljEu I'm pretty pro-ACA, and I've gotta say I'm STUNNED that number is so low. If true, huge, huge success for Obamacare. I gotta be honest, I don't even know that this means.
Depends when, where and how people want to use it. I remember when Dems were pushing this law saying it was a Reep idea so Reeps can't hate it. On the flip side this idea was loved by Reeps until the Dems took it. Who did what is up for debate until political points need to be scored. Basically, Team Blue out Reeped Team Red on this one but the cheerleaders on either side have yet to budge.
